  2. Awesome man, thanks! Turns out the first tranny I could find is an R154... es bueno! This guy wants $300 for a tranny, no shifter. 91k on the tranny, no shifter, no clutch, fly, or pp. Seems pretty high to me, I'm gonna check the junkyard first, cause this guy says he bought it from a toyota yard here in edmonds, and I think pull a part's cost for a tranny is like... $30 or something tiny like that. I do know, however, that the yard he bought this tranny from isn't a u-pull, so he probably paid a lot more. It'd be really cool to start fabbing mounts this weekend. Clif, what turbo are you running?

I think I'm going to buy the first tranny I can find just for fitment purposes, once I have the tranny and shift position I can make my mounts, then just return it to the junkyard if it's an NA... heh Do you know off the top of your head how far forwardback and updown from stock mounts you had to offset your brackets?

    Engine swap

    lmao this will be an awesome swap, it's quite backwards, and you'll scare the sh*t out of a lot of people. There's a mazda pickup at my buddy's shop with a twin turbo rotary in it, funny to see.
  9. really it sounds to me like you oughtta get an s30... you've got quite a bit of work into your current car if it's only got 6k miles on the motor. start from the car you want, and work from there. if you want an s30 looking dash in an s130, look at the plethora of "build your own dash" posts here, there's literally nothing you couldn't do with the support and help of some of these crazy guys. as for the motor, if all you want is a little more torque, it'd be easier to go with a nitrous or turbo setup, and run something like megasquirt to handle the tuning, than it would be to go with an rb or a jz swap. If your motor has 6k miles on it and is in good working order, the extra power from either forced induction setups will not harm the motor any.

  12. yeah, it's going to be a bitch, but so will an rb25. doing each project the right way, i don't think it will be any more work than an rb25. do what you really really want, imagine getting all the bullsh*t done and going "f*ck, i wish i had..." no. just do it.
  13. yeah but torque is also what makes a car fun, lol Look at how much power you want, decide from there. It's going to be an expensive, labor intensive, badass project, so decide what you want. look at the motors from the top, decide which would look cooler in your engine bay.
  14. go with the toyota motor. Personal preference doesn't enter in here, it'd be cooler. ^lol
  15. Or, just duct tape a leaf blower to your intake, with a throttle for it mounted in the cockpit.
  16. if you're doing wed reduct, just buy the panels. there are tons of options, search around. probably not worth your R&D unless you're going to sell the stuff. the easiest swap for more power, hands down, is l series to l series, if you want tons of power cheap, go turbo. the other motors listed are great too, and require more work, but an L28 swap is just a drop in deal. Also, I believe it's all across washington, but in my area our cars are so damned old they don't care what we do to their exhaust.

  18. Does it really matter which is better? Those of you who have tuned their cars to the point that you might form an opinion have enough money into your car that if you really really cared, you could switch at some point, but you don't do it, because of one reason or another. If any of you cared enough to swap it over and tune your exact vehicle and show us a dyno sheet, I'd think it was great, but the truth is probably that those of you who run a 4 barrel probably have some nostalgia attached to it, same reason I'll always want to run megasquirt. Point: Even if one was proven, beyond the shadow of a doubt, to be better, some of the people who have pounded on this argument, still wouldn't switch, because they like their setup. Not everyone runs the widest tires they can fit in their car, even though it offers more traction. Being better won't make hardly anyone switch.
  19. I think PIR (formerly SIR) up here in Washington makes you have a helmet under 12, a cageroll bar under 11, or 13/12 if you have t tops or something... Past that I've heard they don't really care

  22. wow, so a jmgte swap could be as easy as the install kit, 2jz mounts, and the 7mgte, plus newer brackets if it's an older motor?
