  1. if you're willing to ship i know a guy in seattle who has done a fair amount of z work, he's had a lot of z's in the past, and currently has a 73 with (i think) a 454 in it.
  2. I can stop by this weekend and look at it if you want, I live in ballard and travel tofrom edmonds regularly. Hell, I've even got my stock l24 dizzy.
  3. ♥♥♥♥, I was gonna have my motor rebuilt buy a guy in western Idaho, a friend of a friend... When it came time to actually order the motor, we found out he had died about a month ago An inconvenience to me, but a much greater loss to him and his.
  4. Notice the only person who didn't say "keep it!" asked how much you wanted for it?
  5. How do you make sure the flares are symmetrical? or at least similar?
  6. badjuju

    shift knobs

there's also the epoxy method. for that professional look.
  7. rune, my avatar used to be the head of smokescreen, that's funny. Did you by chance ever get to meet a z guy named Brad out of grant's pass?
  8. uhh, i'm about to have an l28et rebuilt, but i'm up in seattle. you willing to crate it?
  9. Are these potential problems things that would come up right at first? As in, I imagine if there wasn't enough piston to valve clearance I'd find out right away, like within the warranty period, yeah?
  10. I had searched rather diligently for a used l28et in my area, and it makes me really nervous to consider purchasing a used motor so far away. Frankly it concerns me buying any motor so far away, but I'm much more comfortable with a rebuilt motor. Does anyone foresee any problems with getting this much power out of this setup? Or more importantly, does anyone foresee problems with this setup as far as stock reliability is concerned?
  11. Not a burn thread. Not a burn thread. Not a burn thread. I emailed a guy named "Datsun Parts" on ebay about a motor he had up for sale. He called me and we talked about him building me an l28et. He said "around 2k plus shipping" I asked for a sheet describing everything the "around $2k" figure would cover. He emailed me this: ---------------------------- Engine includes complete long block. F54 block with new .50mm oversized ITM Brand Dished Pistons with rings New set of Felpro gaskets New timing set new rod and crank bearings new freeze plugs deck surfaced painted to the color of your choice hot tank cleaned reassembled P90 head includes 3 angle valve job polished crank new guides new valve seals new valve seats new water pump new oil pump valve cover and oil pan included -------- Does the above fall under what has been described here: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=127084 as "Will put up with 300 rwhp"? It seems to make sense from what I can gather.
  12. or radial belts winding on pavement... lol
  13. My thoughts exactly. You probably won't notice a cooling difference, but it's like the idea of having a light inside your computer case. It'll generate some amount of heat, which is enough to offset the 'cool' look in my eyes. I say go for it though, the fact that we don't get IC's to begin with makes the heat argument a little silly. Your car. Find a sexy color and go to town.
  14. but seriously, i'll take that burden from you if you'd rather not bear it. a z is a hell of a responsibility.
  15. Sounds almost worth the drive from seattle.
  16. LOL! I saw "last post by meatpop" and started laughing my ass off.
  17. awesome man, glad to have another member up with MS!
  18. I'm great with cars, but I'll forget all about my Z for some good sushi. Maybe the mechanic has a soft spot for good cuisine?
  19. need a motor to go with it though. i guess the two replies in half a day lets me know what the other guys think, eh? lmao Thanks guys
  20. Tony, the chances of 1 voter impacting the outcome of a presidential election are something like those of being struck by lightning while masturbating in a ditch in the rain. I'm not sighting a source, but you catch my drift. That being said, I still vote. My not doing business with him, will have an effect. If you say it won't, you're either lying or don't understand capitalism. Whatever minuscule effect his not having my $300 of profit will have on his business will be less than that of all these people reading these posts. THAT being said, we're still discussing it. He's a prick. Your guy from CA was a prick. If this is the way these two particular businesses are run, that's fine, this is America, but this guy's still a prick, and I'm not gonna buy his ♥♥♥♥. I would have had the patience to pay full in cash at the time of service, had his deal made me want his motor more than this other deal. If discussing price and warranty is dicking around, I would say they're unimportant to the deal at hand. Being that the price of an automobile is always the biggest print in an ad (possibly aside from the name of the vehicle), I'd say it's not unimportant. I might even go so far as to say it is important. This was the first phone call longer than "what does your slave cyl cost?" And he blew it. On the flip side, I talk to the other guy about twice a week, and have a 5-10 minute conversation with him about this stuff. To boot, I pay his cost. Gary might not care, and that's fine, but my money is worth money to him, and he's not getting it. "I don't care" is a good argument I suppose, but I haven't spent the $5 here and there to do this and that for the last two months, and those little expenditures have added up to about 23 of the cost of a new motor for me. In closing, little crap (that would be me, in this case) adds up quickly. While I know I'm not making a big impact, I also know I'm not supporting an assbag's delusions about his market power in my auto community. -off to jerk off in a ditch
  21. did you have to suck it through a hose? sounds like a good deal to me man, hose or not.
  22. ... is from a rattlecan. I'm pretty proud though, I like it a lot, the girlfriend did the cool part. I did the rear bumper as well. Then, today, I went to check the rad fluid and found oil! Guess it's time to get a motor that fits the paint, eh? What do you guys think? I still have to paint the door sills, I know, but I only had so much time in one day.
  23. where you at? your location just says "USA" actually come to think of it, there's one place I know of to get 93, there's a chevron nearby Mountlake 9 theater in case anyone from seattle reads this.
  24. I'm working at UW to fix a SolidScape ModelMaker II. The element for the supporting material has gone out, making the models it can make rather... boring. We're also building a new one, to be accurate within a micron, but I can't tell you any more than that
  25. You bite your tongue, he was a king! Thanks guys, lol Phil, that intercooler looks amazing. Do you get any grief from the man about having no bumper?
