  1. I got sick of working on the motor stuff for a while, so I moved to a much more messy part of my project, my custom dash! Please be gentle, I know it doesn't look so hot right now, but I'll eventually be bondo-ingpainting it... but for now, this represents 30 or so hours of work, a couple hundred bucks in fiber, a grand or so in silicon, a lot of itchy clothes, and a LOT of love. Here it goes: Cut some cardboard to fit up to the window joined the cardboard together Fiber glassed one side of the cardboard and scraped the cardboard off once the fiber cured: Repeat the last couple steps til you have a couple pieces to join together: Cut a hole for the steering wheel and fit up to make sure you're going to be able to fit the sucker into your car: Cut monitor hole and mount monitor Cut hole for Computer case and fiber case in: And those are all the pics I have for now. Right now, the USB Hub, iPod docking station, and mounting brackets are curing, once they're done, I'll up some more pics! This is also the latest post in my project thread, but I wanted to hear some opinions, and folks can't reply to the project thread: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=130545 What do you guys think?

  3. Project Dashboard: The goal was originally to have a monitor mounted behind the wheel so I could use megatune as my gauges. I then added a little micro-atx desktop to the dash, and mounted an Apple docking station. I'll be hiding two earth magnets under the final finish (black tanned buffalo hide), so I can just mount magnets on whatever new docking station I get for whatever new phone I get (I've had 3 new phones since my gf and I started the dash) I also decided that rather than running more wires into my VEMS box, I'd just get a couple of gauges and run THEM behind the steering wheel (Speedhut speedo, fuel level and oil pressure gauge), and mount a 15" monitor in the center of the dash for the rest of the gauges. Pics in the next post.
  4. kk, I'll take a look at a surge setup, ever thought of that before, thanks guys!
  5. what ended up happening with this? How are you triggering megasquirt?
  6. As far as engine management goes, take a look at megasquirt, it'll run just fine if you set it up right. I ran MS on my l28et swap and it did great (wasn't aiming for 500 hp though), and now that I'm putting a 7m in my '73, I'm going with a product called VEMS (http://www.vems.us/), highly recommended by a few friends of mine, they say it's basically a more professional, less finicky version of MS.
  7. I've heard that the '75 had bigger lines coming in and out of it, and will fit right into a '73. Are either of these just nasty rumors, or would I actually see a benefit from this swap? I've been told that my '73's Fuel pickups just won't cut it when I start getting to my 400-500 rwhp goals.
  8. I suggest not doing this. I did it with my 280zx turbo, and it sucked. hard.
  9. The rear end is all wired up, and I have started my dashboard project. It's called, project dashboard, and you'll all see why once I make some headway. Also I need to setup Photobucket again, since it suspended my account
  10. Started working on the wiring harness, but on a sweeter note, I found ANOTHER 7mgte, with the starter, alt, turbo (zero shaft play), condenser, power steering pump, and intercooler, with what the guy tells me is 65k miles. He's asking $500, which is about what I would pay after buying a starter, alt, and turbo, PLUS the motor I have now is pushing about 120k miles. I'm super excited.
  11. Thanks sir. I'm right now working on a wiring diagram for it, i've got the front and rear lights wired in. lol
  12. actually, i suppose one could have a hernia in their ass as well.
  13. hemorrhoids are in your ass, not hernias.
  14. lmao It turns out it is not a strangulated hernia, meaning I don't need to worry about my intestines coming through, but i'm hoping not to have to have surgery. Good news is that the school will pay for any cost of this, since it's a sports team injury.
  15. I submit for your enjoyment: I've been practicing with the University of Washington's cheer squad for a couple months now, and after starting to do backflips again for the first time in a couple years, my abs are totally sore and tired. Today after lunch, at work, where I do nothing strenuous (as an intern at a major construction company, my job is mainly reviewing drawings), I sneezed. This pushed my abs past their limit from what dire state they were previously in, and split them. Big badass cheerleader man (it really is a tough sport), just herniated his abs by walking out into the sun.
  16. I don't mind spending $$, just means I won't be buying them soon, lol thanks a lot guys! I love the tool shed. shame that thread found its way there. and Tony, you always seem so wise beyond my years.
  17. k, thanks a lot guys, that's enough for me! I'll pass!
  18. I have read something about these here, but I wasn't able to find the thread, so I thought I'd ask. Who here knows about these here seats?: http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/pts/1285166423.html Notice this guy isn't passing them off as Nismos, but rather as "Seats with the Nismo racing logo embroidered onto the head rest" My thought on the matter is that for $180 per seat, something as nice looking as these would have to be worth it, if for no other reason than this: I believe a cheap DOT certified seat built in the last 5 years is probably safer at this point than an OE seat was in 1972, when my car was built. Thoughts? Or better yet, linkie?
  19. Turns out the $whatever difference between the summit and painless harneses is the extra manual pieces that come along with the painless stuff (along with anything that other people have noted). I ran to my neighbor's place, copied his painless manual, and everything is falling into place. I'll post my notes later on in the project.
  20. I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out how to connect who to what. The following documentation is for my summit harness: http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/instructions/sum-890020.pdf I'm referring to the 240 diagram here: http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=2126 So far as I can tell, I need to run two of my lights in paralel, but I can't tell which ones! From the summit PDF you'll notice I don't have a wire for my brake lights. Does this mean I need to run another wire seperately and bypass the deal all together? I've been locked here for a couple hours, and I'm ready to just frisbee this little bastard laptop into the lake, so I'd appreciate any help you guys can offer.
  21. the throttle cable is a simple and fun fab. I used bicycle brake cable, bought it bulk from a bike shop, along with the cable sleeve, and the metal end knobbies that go... on the ends. I ran my cable through the stock linkage holes, filling the holes in first, and drilling holes for the cable, while drilling less deep holes for the end knobbies to make it all nice and purdy. do this a couple times and you'll get to where you're trying to go. since you're fabbing the intake, it shouldn't be hard to figure your post points out. I'll try and find some pics when I get back from the seafair parade tonight.
  22. i love it, very original from what i've seen.
  23. Look at that last pic... way to go Matt! I'll be watching FnF on loop right there, I think we've all been waiting to see a sweet Z in one of these movies. Haven't seen it yet, but I can tell you that transformers sucked. The first was great, the second was like... Two and a half hours of suck. you're watching it, wishing Megan Fox's tittie might fall out in all the bouncing and running going on, meanwhile wondering how many people are going to lose money on this, feeling sorry for the thousands involved in it, thinking "Christ, the guy that masterminded this is clearly insane!" It was like trying to maintain an erection through footage of the towers going down. For over two hours. But on the first note, the car looks great, man!
  24. haven't done it yet, haven't even built my motor mounts yet. However, I'm about to move into a place with a four car garage, so the motor mounts should be done in about two weeks
  25. No new pics damnit, but my girlfriend wired up the low beams, high beams, front turning signals and running lights and horn for me. I ran the grounds for the left tail light assembly, and I pulled the new harness through its channel in the right side of the body.
