  1. Just an update, wow it's been a long time since I've moved on this project. I have a VEMS box headed to me as we speak, and there is a brand new wiring harness all laid out and waiting for me to start connecting stuff.
  2. amazing. quite a kick in the ass for me, i've had my 7mgte sitting in my 73 without motor mounts for a year now. Looks incredible man, you should be really proud.
  3. i just take the stuffing out and sit on the hollow fabric
  4. Motor is still not in, I promised my parents I'd quit working on my car during the school year. HOWEVER, I did just pick up a VEMS setup for $600, complete with a wiring harness. Life is good. Just thought I'd update you guys!
  5. I did this last January, and the inserts started coming out by April. I'm in Seattle, lots of wetness, but it happened. I mainly wanted it to be less obvious that I was rolling around without a bumper, so it worked. Looks badass man, I hope it sticks around!
  6. Wow. I'm reading this sucker a hundred times between now and my actual install. The harness is in the car, waiting for me to start stripping and crimping. Thank you for all the great posts guys!
  7. Under dash, passenger side, the only connector I haven't removed is blue and (I believe) 5 x 2. The only thing that makes sense to me is that it would be the wire pack that travels to the rear of the car. Can someone confirm this?
  8. Could, but at that point you have to bend the block to match and he doesn't have a big enough hammer.
  9. I've bought all my MS stuff from Matt, he's great with customer service. I'm pleased 100% with his work. If you have a question that you can't resolve on your own, give him a jingle, he'll get back to you with whatever answer you need.
  10. isn't the fuse block in a 260 in the console somewhere?
  11. That couple of hundred won't pay for the frame repairfloorboards you'll need. The way clifton is suggesting uses the stock mounts. Find a good body'd car (is that a word?) for a grand, and start from there.
  12. The motor: The Mounts Clifton Designed, which I, shamefully, will be copying: I plan to cut the exhaust at the first bend and just rotate it 180*. I hope to. And just for the hell of it, we dropped the motor in with a crane to see how badass this thing will really look. Once the motor is swapped in, we're planning on putting a small jacuzzi or spa in between the pulleys and the electric fans. Maybe a batting cage, I really have to think of my options, I don't want to let all that space go to waste.
  13. That's a nice setup! Nothing like data redundancy, we've been running Raid 6 everywhere, but that's really overkill. I've never build a dual quad core over 2 ghz, I bet that sucker screams! I've got a server install to do this weekend, the company purchased their server from HP about a year ago, and just brought us on as a consultant. We're installing Small Business Server for them, because all of their email runs through POP3... Not the most secure and certainly not the safest as far as data redundancy is concerned. Also, flip through the list of similar threads... lol
  14. I've got a 20 gal tank, but it's full of a Gecko and Green Anole. I used to have (in my bigger tank) 2 plecos and an 11" Albino Tiger Oscar. Loved that thing, f*cking feeder fish got to it, parasites.
  15. ooooh that is sweet. thanks a lot guys!
  16. I'm in the same boat, I did 125 in my '95 golf but only 115 in my Z The boys of Ramsey county... lmao... Someday the mountain might get 'em but the law never wiiiilll
  17. I'm about to start my wiring harness, and I'd like to draw a diagram on the car. I'd like to be able to draw the location of each device and have a checkbox beside each, to show whether it's been wired or not. I've googled around, and haven't found what I was looking for. Does anyone have a pic of the top of their car? as in, just showing the outline of the car from the top view?
  18. Just read that some upgrades were happening, just wanted to offer my services as a tech if you need a server built. If I just missed the boat, or you're not interested, it's cool, but if you'd like, I could post a short hardware resume' Haven't donated YET (gotta buy my 7mgte first), but I'd like to support the site in whatever way possible.
  19. LOL I get it now... yeah, I like that a lot.
  20. you can't post here anymore, you're banned. very banned.
  21. so how do i get my name in red? LOL
  22. My sister and I painted the car with Herculiner from Schuck's. It'll be stripped off at some point (peels off in big patches, if you ever want to remove it, works great.) I'll post pics of that someday.
  23. So... After measuring all that we had to fab, we started bending: Then we bent some more: From another angle: How's it fit? A little floorboard repair while we're at it, Poik helped out here: Building an end piece for the new frame rail: Ripped the old frame rail out: Welded the new wheel well in: Fitting the new rail: Didn't take any after pics... damnit, lol I'll take some the next time it's on a lift.
  24. So, After the new carb was installed, and everything was all gravy, I drove the car. Whee. That little sucker hauled ass. For about a week and a half. Now, when I buy a car, I change the oil, spark plugs, etc. I check the oil every time I drive it for a week or so, to make sure it doesn't leak. The car didn't leak oil, it didn't burn oil. The friday following the carb install, I checked the oil, perfect. I drove up to my parents' place, and parked the car. I drove my dad's pickup for the weekend (hauling dump runs and such). On a side note, here's a pic of the truck a year or so prior, after racing and beating an 11 second mustang at the track in Bremerton, Wa: Note: Poik and I won the race. This happened on the way home, doing 50 mph, steadily down the freeway. This is a thread for another day, however. So, Monday morning, I get in my car (didn't check the oil this time), and got on the road. I got from Monroe to Kenmore: Before I noticed a rattling sound. I immediately pulled over, checked my oil. Bone dry. I walked to shell, bought 5 quarts of oil, dropped it in the motor, and checked the oil. The motor was hot, so all the oil heated up and dropped to the pan, and the oil came up to the "okay" mark on the dipstick. I drove to work, and worked. After work, I checked my oil, it was full. The motor, was not leaking any oil. I drove home. On the way home, however, the L24 went tits up. There was no oil sitting at home on the driveway where it was parked for the weekend, and there was no burning oil smell to the exhaust. CERTAINLY NOT 5 QTS IN 20 MINUTES OF DRIVING worth of burning oil smell. So, at this point I have a car with no motor, and a turbocharged motor with the same mounts and all that, in a car with a 3 speed auto tranny, and inferior looks and aesthetics. I swapped the turbo motor into my s30. Whee! I also rewired my MS Harness. It sort of looked like this: Yeah, I don't have a pic of the harness in the s30, but it didn't look any better than the original. Anyhow, I drove my car a lot, and it was fun. Next up in the list of fun stuff which has been a pain in my ass: Replacing the passenger side frame rail. Suddenly the car started veering right really hard when I hit the brakes. Turns out the subframe rail was rusted through and needed to be replaced. I replaced it with a piece from http://www.baddogparts.com/. It was an awesome piece, and I'd recommend it to anyone who needs to replace their frame rail. Luckily, my neighbors build cars. Their work is ******* amazing. They restore Jensen Interceptors. I'd never heard of a Jensen before I met Doug and Keri, but they seem to be really great cars. Anyhow, Doug allowed me to use his shop to replace my frame rail, and when it became apparent to him that I didn't know what the hell I was doing, he helped me out by essentially doing the whole job for me. Essentially, I'm in debt as far as work time goes. Whenever I'm at my parents place and I have a spare minute, I ask him if he needs any help. He really bailed me out, and didn't ask for anything in return. Anyhow, here are the pics! Before any work: So, Doug told me to start cutting shit away. Here is that: He asked me to pull this in one piece, so we could use it to fabricate other pieces:
