  1. not sure how much help it'll be, like i said, i'm running way smaller injectors than you, but no problem. anything to help another member get up and running.
  2. i've got a wideband, i can post my ve table and stuff later on today. i'm only running 311 ccs though...
  3. i gotta say dude, you might be my new hero. can anyone name the movie this came from? "DUDE! On a scale of 1 to 10, one being not so extreme, and 10 being extremely extreme, i give this a nine point SEVEN!" anyhow, that's your car.
  4. you are going to flip when you ride in it for the first time dude, the most satisfying feeling in the world right now is driving my car.
  5. also, i just learned not to f*ck around when johnc's administrating... lol
  6. I just had a flash of brilliance, 20 second time delay and a flashbang... won't f*ck yer car up too horribly and would set off any alarms nearby, wake the neighbors up, and leave the f*ckers wondering what to do...
  7. LOL the wide eyed smilie is perfect. I'll post a pic, lemme find one she won't flip out at. It aint gonna be in her undies, I'll tell ya that, but a bathing suit is close, neh? she says "i'll pick it". expected. I guess I'll post one when she gets back to me on that.
  8. gah! i am looking to do this to my car... like this weekend, because i want it really bad and i don't want to wire msns-e into my ignition switch. and i can't find the damn album on his yahoo! pictures site. anone have any pics of this?
  9. racer, 30% off would probably be worth the postage... you willing to hook all the folks on hybridz up with cheap wire? don't bring it to class unless you have enough for everyone... lol
  10. buy aluminum is about theonly thing i could tell you for cheap wire. ebay might be a good place too, but copper is pretty much at rape me prices right now.
  11. there's a guy on ls1tech who lives around here (seattle )... can't remember his name, who tunes ls2s for members, something like buying the software (proprietary) and a six pack, he might charge, not sure, but he's pretty f*cking good from what i've seen, my friend and i showed up at his place as he and his buddy got out of an 11 second h2
  12. nuculear. it's pronounced nuculear. that's crazy, wood... i'd say in the summer, you might try it just for shits and giggles, but not in a car you like a whole lot. what sort of lab do you work in? might be able to ask someone you work with about it? it doesn't seem to me that it would be all that different in cooling properties, but i've only taken a year of gen chem, so i'm no expert. interesting idea man.
  13. I'm driving around seattle in my 240, down lake city way. My girlfriend is in her underwear (sweet), and we're just driving to my place. A mark 3 jetta pulls up to the light, the kids inside are staring at the car, so i figure wtf, i'll just hit it a little. i leave them a couple car lengths behind at 30 mph, and at the next light i asked if it was a 4 cyl or the vr6, he said vr6, thank god... lol (side note: right when i spool up i get this great power loss, i have about six hours of tuning before it's perfectly running, i've no laptop with a serial port for msns-e ) at the next light i just drive like normal, and i look behind me and there's a crown vic, with XMT plates tailgating me. I pull over, as my girlfriend hurredly grabs for her shirt. I said "no, put your pants on, leave your top off, don't let him see you putting your clothes on." so she puts her pants on, trying not to let him see her moving much. he walks up and says "it's a lot louder than it is fast" my first reaction was to say "F*ck you! wanna race? f*cking cruiser" (though my performance against the jetta proves that i wouldn't have stood up to the cruiser, i know) next he tells me it's wreckless, regardless of not going over the speed limit. now he shines his light at Morgan and says "whats your story? you tanning? it's too dark to be tanning" (as she's in a pair of pants and a bra) to which she replies, "no, just hangin out, is there a law against driving around in a bra?" I hand him my papers, license, insurance, reg, all that, and he goes and sits in his car. 20 seconds or so later i hear his radio again, meaning he opened his door, and there was no way he wrote me a ticket in 20 seconds, so i'm happy at this point. he walks up and says 'i'm not gonna give you a ticket cause by the look on your face it's obvious you didn't know what you were doing was against the law. you probably figured that you weren't speeding so it was okay, right?' "absolutely! i had no idea, i figured it wasn't against the law since i wasn't speeding!" "right, so i'm gonna let you go now, and no, there's no law against driving around in your bra" 'well her first instinct was to put a shirt on but i didn't want you to think there was something weird going on in here' "well i didn't think you guys were having sex while you were driving, though i've seen that before. have a nice night." then he drove off, and my heart started beating again. I asked why he pulled me over rather than the other guy and he said it's a toss up, and sometimes they both pull over, and other times he pulls one over and chases the other down and comes back, but he's not really feeling like "wrapping that jetta around a telephone pole tonight" he was a pretty nice guy, lol I've talked my way through probably 12 tickets in my 5 years of driving, but all for crap like i'm driving my parents car and i didn't know the headlight was out. i'm driving my dad's pickup and the valve cover is leaking oil on the header. i'm down in ghetto ass kent with a bad tail light. all kinds of crap like that. This is the first time i've been pulled over for something legitimate and not gotten a ticket for it. This makes up for the one time i got a ticket: 65 in a 60. I no longer feel cheated.
  14. You can get an infrared heat lamp from eastwood that works pretty well so i've been told. my buddy and i do lots of powdercoating in his garage, with an old oven, but it's limited by space.
  15. i won't need a knock sensor, right? i mean it'll be obvious when it starts to ping? not sure i've ever experienced it (yay)
  16. dar dar, thanks. lol
  17. i was planning on dyno tuning after i IC the system and run it up to about 12 psi, tune it myself, then have a dyno shop fine tune it for me, are you suggesting dyno tuning it now then later also, or just getting the dyno sheet for what i have and adjusting accordingly?
  18. msns-e l28ets30 i've tuned so i now have 11-14 afr everywhere i've been. however, after it spools up, there's kind of a lag where it's a noticable drop in power, then it just takes off like a bat out of hell. it does this in first, second, third, fourth, and fiiif. i'm thinking it's a timing issue but i don't have the balls to change my timing under boost right now. supportive thoughts anyone? lol
  19. wow, i've never started a thread with so many responses. lmao i have an old zalman, that would look so ghetto though... yeah that helps, nbesheer. i've been rolling around doing that too, as well as turning ms off while i'm compression braking to turn the water pump and get airflow while not causing more heat. I'll look into the taurus fan thing, gotta be cheaper than buying a brand new fan. careless, the problem is that i don't have that many fans lying around, so i guess this whole thread is somewhat of a mute point, but if everyone sent me their extra fans... lol also, yeah the fans run on dc, the water is the biggest problem for me. a cpu fan gets way hotter than 200*, so i'm not concerned about heat, and if i used brushless motors, wouldn't that eliminate bearing life? as far as blocking airflow, yes the frames of the fans would block a little, however these fans have such a small mass that driving at 30 mph would push them faster than the electricity would, so the fans themselves blocking airflow i don't see as a major problem. When I swapped the l28et into my 240, i had to remove the hall effect sensor to keep it from knocking on the rad support, and when i put it back on, i had it moved about 3/8" to the right (looking at the motor from the front of the car) and it didn't read any magnets. I don't think that these fans, 3-5" away from the back of the sensor would effect it any. damnit i wish i had a ton more of these to try it, i've got msns-e, i can watch my coolant temp change by degree, it'd be a fun test.
  20. cfm is cfm... as long as it's shrouded, it'll push or pull, yeah?
  21. The way I figure it... the rad is 24" x 13". or 609 x 330 mm 609120 = 5 330120 = ~3 5 x 3 = 15 15 fans of 120mm size could fit in that space, with about 1" depth. running a 92 cfm fan, it gives me 1380 cfm. running a 114 cfm fan, it gives me 1710 cfm. eh? eh? of course, this idea was shot down within minutes of posting at zcar, but hybridz is a bit more... progressive? lol by the end of buying all the fans and stuff it wouldn't really by cost effective, it might just turn out to be a decent idea. I don't have enough of the quality of fans I'd want to use for this, but it's a hell of an idea I think.
  22. I have an abundance of 80mm fans. I don't have a fan which is low profile enough to put on the motor side of my radiator. It's an s30 with an l28et. I have a hall effect sensor pointing at the face of my water pump pulley triggering megasquirt. This hall effect sensor would be right in the way of my mechanical fan. I am currently just trying not to idle at lights and in traffic for fear of overheating. I'm wondering if anyone else thinks this is a feasible idea? If I were to just make a bank of 80 mm fans like 8*5 and run them as my cooling? Anyone seenheard of this?
  23. kudos to him for getting that fu/cker to work
  24. if you wanted to, you could just buy a set of halogens, and a couple cobalt drill bits and just drill the backs of them out, that would look fu cking sweet, and totally stock from a distance (so long as the lights weren't on, haha)
  25. i wish mine was that pretty. I just got my l28et swapped into my s30, and believe me, the feeling you'll get when you're steering around your hard work, there's nothing like it in the world. I just wish I got college credit for this, hah
