  1. I run a clutchnet sprung 4 puck, grabs like a motherf*cker and doesn't chatter much at all, just took a little getting used to. Not bad for the like $130 i paid.
  2. Is it totally out of scope for me to want to do this with the motor in the car? I'm planning on jacking it up as high as possible (hopefully finding a lift instead), cleaninggrinding to get a good surface to weld to, and then stitch welding the bad dog rails on. It's a 73 I only have to do the front sections, but I think I'll be doing front and back. My idea is that I just have to jack the car up and weld. Am I going to have to remove suspension parts and the like, to weld underneath them?
  3. 1981 Turbo, Auto, T-Tops, 300k on Chassis, no Motor
  4. i've never heard a z i didn't like mang, sorry
  5. 0-10 mph, and then again at 70 mph, i get a knocking sound coming from the back right wheel somewhere. going down a hill, i noticed it not making the noise earlier today. suspension problem maybe? I took a look under the car, didn't see anything rubbing, no clean spots from something being hit, no bare metal from something rubbing, however 0-10 mph, i can feel and hear the knocking, and it is directly proportionate to car speed. at 70 mph, the whole car vibrates like a mofo, that's almost useless mirrors due to vibration, and everything in my console jumping about. A friend of mine suggested a wheel bearing maybe? Thought I'd ask you folks before taking her in to a shop, cause I sure as sh*t can't see what the problem is.
  6. way to go man, you'll be skipping for the next week at least.
  7. if you need any parts off my l28et, and want to trade me one of your oh so abundant rbs for say, the head off my motor, i'm down.
  8. Phiz, happen to have a spare carb? my 620's just went out
  9. That is truly a work of f*cking art. And all those mag covers? dude, i didn't even get that far in NFS: Underground, lmao keep up the good work, and I'm glad to know that you work on it yourself, too many people do too little with their cars.
  10. I was thinking about this, but the problem i couldn't figure out how to get around is the locking steering column. maybe... take all the wires from it and rewire it however, say your NASCAR idea, then stick the key in, turn it, break it off inside, then it will be unlocked, and won't run the bat down? lol maybe... I hope someone can get around this.
  11. man i clicked this thinking someone was putting an odyssey minivan v6 in a z. got all excited. lol
  12. i have that done to mine in orange, looks pretty cool. primer with orange scooped out.
  13. z? there's a z in that pic? it looks to me like it's just a picture of a really big intercooler. with part of a license plate stuck in its teeth... lol just playing around, looks awesome! my front plate got about destroyed when i did my swap, as the arm on the crane was just about 2 inches too short... is there a law against f*cking it up rather than modifying it? where's the line? find it, and exploit it's fuzziness. i don't want to hear any jokes about exploiting fuzziness.
  14. is it worth going with belton ya think? I'm looking to do this in the next month (next paycheck... lol) My plan is to remove me bumpers, fill in with bondo, sand like a mofo, belt out a coat of primer, wet sand at 400, prime, wet at 800, prime, wet at 1500, then start painting, and do the whole shabang over again with flat black, then again with clear. I want good UV resistance, though I'm in Seattle... lol Which paint should I go with?
  15. Last weekend I did two things: I reinstalled my cardboard glovebox insert, and I tried to pull my stereofan console to install a new stereo. After pulling the whole stereofan setup out about a half inch, I decided it's not worth messing anything up, and reinstalled it. I do not think I disconnected anything. I was very gentle. Whilst installing my cardboard insert, I pulled the momentary switch which turns off the glovebox light. you know the one, top right of the glove box? pushes in when you close the glovebox door? as I pulled it out, dar dar, I shorted it out. It blew the accessories fuse. After replacing the fuse, my little yellow defrost switch doesn't work, and neither does my fan. fusible link inside? any ideas?
  16. so... yeah i don't see how painting a manifold would keep it cool... anodized cpu heatsyncs don't work as well as plain ol aluminum and those don't work as well as copper... what we need is a copper manifold with fins all over it. or hell, a ceramic bottom manifold with a copper top and ceramic runners?
  17. anyone seen corky romano? dude, unless you're going to go balls out on a miata and track it, get a z. sure, most of the looks i get in my 73 are from chicks my mom's age (i'm in college too), but it's something to be driving a z. there just aren't that many of them. i was a cheerleader in highschoolstart of college, i don't care about 'that guy must be gay because ___' comments, i just like Zs a lot more.
  18. much more safe than a motorcycle, eh? not sayin much man, i think as far as a teen owning one, probably, since you don't have the motorcycle's power, but you also lose the ability to zip away (however unlikely the chance to use it) if say, a semi starts merging on you.
  19. I'm not posting mine, in case the next owner has enough of a brain to check out hybridz, lol
  20. royal purple is expensive sh*t, lol bummer dude, is this just what we get for driving cool cars?
  21. wouldn't be a problem with an aircooled porsche... bummer. as for ibh, dude, no reason to admit defeat, what you've done is pretty inspiring to me. The joke "the aristocrats" is kinda like working on a car the way we all do. The more gross and verbose the joke is as it leads up to the punchline, the more ironic and thus funny the punchline. the more work you do, the more hardship you go through to get this crap done, the more rewarding it will be when you take it out. I don't even haveaspire to have a v-8 z anytime soon, and I still keep track of this thread, cause it's f*cking amazing to me how much work you've done in such little time. Keep it up, holmes.
