  1. 79 white 2+2, parted out 79 burgundy 2+2, parted out 79 black/silver 2 seater, parted out another 79 burgundy 2+2, parted out 80ish black 2+2, parted out 83 red 2+2, parted out, half the parts are in my daily driver now 83 red 2 seater, sold 78 2 seater S130, my current daily driver. Err I think thats about it, and 2 VG20ET Z31s
  2. My '78 280ZX. 5 stud Z31 hubs, R32 calipers, R31 struts up front no spacers, '83 rear end with 25mm spacers. Wheels are 8" front, 9" rear with 235/45/17s and 255/40/17s. Spacers aren't on in these pics.
  3. Just use one from a fuel injected L28, wiring will probably be slightly different but it should work the same.
  4. pWho's making the manifolds for you? What are they worth? A properly divided exhaust manifold would be pretty tricky to make, are you going to group the cylinders in firing order or just 123-456?
  5. Looking good man, I've just moved up to Auckland, drove my Z all the way from Christchurch in one go, what a mission that was. Are you getting custom inlet manifolds made?
  6. Yes, but it depends on the offset of the wheels. I've got 235 45 17s and 255 40 17s under my stock body car.
  7. I think the timing marks for the LD are on the flywheel, so if you want to time it correctly you have to stick with the stock one.
  8. I'd say those LD28s have been converted to turbo, have a look at the oil feed lines for the turbo, both of them have the bolt holes to bolt to a petrol inlet manifold and one of the lines has been cut and a piece of rubber hose put in? Check out the position of the alternator on the 2nd one. And RD28s are crap stay away from them.
  9. Are they the same thread? An LS1 would have imperial threads rather that metric wouldn't it?
  10. From what I can remember the "twist" in them is different, its been a while though.
  11. The cc rating is wrong for an 89mm bore with an LD28 crank. 89.5 would work out right. Wonder why he stayed 4 stud with the R32 brakes. Nice car though.
  12. The RB ones fits fine on a ZX, I used to use one before I went to twin 12" electrics.
  13. Thats one of the good L20ETs, its got the idle control on the bottom of the throttle body with a right angle adaptor, it'll have the PCV in the normal n/a place and the bigger j pipe (more like an L28ET), but the turbo does sit further forward.
  14. I found a manifold like the rusty one on a C31 L20ET Laurel, all the HR30 manifolds I've got are like the painted one. The C31 had the PCV in the same place as an n/a L28 with a right angle pipe coming off it. Only problem with the C31 style manifold is if you have a big compressor housing it can hit on the engine mount.
  15. No, he is right, they are 133mm. That calculator and the L engine calculator are both wrong.
  16. Getting on from NZ would probably be cheaper, we have heaps of L20ET R30s and C31s over here, I've got two turbo rocker covers but I'm not that keen to part with them just yet. Have a look on Trademe and see if you can find one.
  17. I'm not sure about Oz but nearly every ZX (except the really late ones) in NZ came with the N42/N42 combo. Only thing I can think of that you might need to change is putting a block off plate over where the fuel pump goes, I think all of those Patrol motors were single carb weren't they?
  18. Did you guys get any Z31 300ZX's over there? I got both of my 0.63 T3s off them.
  19. Do the splined CAS style shafts go in the same way as the normal shafts?
  20. Hey, does anybody have a pic of how the splined (CAS) distributor shaft should be positioned when its installed? Just want to make sure I've got mine in right.
  21. This is from Z31.com, looks a bit tight.
  22. This is one pic, I'll see if I can find some more.
  23. I've seen a couple of Z's fitted with modified BMW crank pulleys, has anybody seen this before and know what I'm on about? I'm trying to find a picture of one now, they are black and a lot bigger than the Z pulleys.
  24. You're a long way from datsun.co.nz hah, anyway here are some pics of the manifold you speak of. And a pic of the throttle bodies showing the difference
