  1. I would like to see that exhasut, i will pm you I have dual 2 1/4 40 series flow masters on my 69 pickup. Its kinda loud at idle, but from 30mph on up, i can have the windows down, and talk normally with someone beside me, i wonder why yours is so loud... maybe its cause i have 2? Whats a resonator? i dont wanna be choking down my exhaust I see you used lakewood bellhousing. I plan on spinnin this little chevy too the moon, and have heard bad storied of flywheels comin apart, and cuttin off feet. Did you have to use the the veryexpensive pull style clutchs? the weir kit lets you use any style, thats why i think i may opt for them... What did you spend on flywheel, clutch, bellhousing, everything between the tranny and motor, if you dont mind me askin
  2. Wow, that shifter does look stock. Did you even use the stock z shift knob? wow man. Also im glad i saw that exhasut photo, because i woulda put my crossmember in totally upside down. So you have dual exhaust that turns into single? What kinda muffler is that? how does it sound? Im lookin for a sound like a vette or something, maybe borla?
  3. Man, i went to your site in your signature, very good tips, its added to my list
  4. I called the guy, cause i had to ask.. its a different kit for the LS1, $660 lt1 $620
  5. Who has rerouted the fuel lines like the JTR book shows? Is this really nessecary? couldnt i just make a heat sheild?
  6. if its that easy, you maybe just convinced me.. So, an ls1 t56, i cant use right? arnt the input shafts too long? So an lt1 i can use, is there another find?
  7. $659 Wow, that is absolutly insane... i cant belive its that expensive Man... thats like half of a monthes pay (soldiers are underpaid) for a bellhousing... damn it
  8. I searched google, and found this http://chevyhiperformance.com/techarticles/48446/ Wow, thats a smart bellhousing.. Now, did yall use the z master cylinder? What did yall do with the hydraulic lines.. they didnt just screw right in did they?
  9. I sure hate to ask, because im sure the answers are in the forum somewhere. I have searched, and answered some questions, but not all... As many here know i plan on using a 327, with a t56 I searched, and found that some guys used this "weir products" adapter To mate a t56 to an old school block I went to tim240z's site, and looked at his pictures.. Hes using an lt1/t56, heres a pic.. gfgf Now, heres an old 327, It looks to me like the bolt pattern is the same... Is it only ls1 t56's that you need the adapter? or, can i just not see the difference. Next question is shiter placement. I kept gettin all different kinds of answeres in the search Where exactly will the shifter pop up at? Will i need to modify the console any? Do you use the shifter closest to the tailshaft? or the next one up? Switchin shifters shouldnt change the location should it? Now the cross member The JTR book dosnt talk much about the t56, and shows a crossmember thats just like 3/8 steel and uses 4 bolts, and some spacers. Anyone use that method? why not? Do i need to make holes for that? Who uses the JTR crossmember? why, or why not. Thanks guys, and i did do a search... there was so many results i looked at most of them. Im trying to build an archive that i can use when it comes time to do this.. so if anyone has some links to answer my questions.. please post them. Thanks cats
  10. Wow, thats the best ive seen so far, do you have any pictures of the finshed product (not installed in the car) from behind? How did you get the gauge, to stick in the stock bezel... Man thats a slick lookin install.
  11. Awesome new videos man, i like those gauges, i just gotta figure out how to mount mine.. and well, buy them too.
  12. thats the picture they show in jegs, they call that an LS1, and its rated at 330hp, maybe they dont know. Phantom, your the man who inspried me to drop a small block into a z, a year after seeing your car at sonic, i bought one. Thanks to you man. I think im just gonna go with a 327, its too easy, and i dont wanna have to go to some "tuner" to get it running right, im just starting to get the hang of the standerd sbc, and it would suck to have to learn a whole new motor ( i know im gonna have too sooner or later) Thanks for yalls advice and help, but i gotta go the 327/302 route
  13. Thanks man, now did you have a hard time gettin them to stay in there? were they snug? how did you mount the speedo and tach
  14. Alright guys this is in response to my 327 post, just something i have been thinkin about I like simplicty, my sbc in the malibu only has a couple wires in the engine bay. No a/c manual brakes. The only thing i have is the wires to the starter, gauges, and alt, and those are pretty tucked away. I look at this ls1 And theres alota stuff. My first question is, how does all this hook up to a z? i mean aside from droppin it in, and hookin up the normal small block stuff, what else to i need to do. how would this be different than a regular sbc swap? im guessing i couldnt run a 4speed right? And whats with all this "tuning" i head ls1 guys talkin about? when do you tune them, what does it entail, and would i have to tune one right outa the crate like this one from jegs?
  15. I have seen 2 people so far just stick an autometer gauge in the factory holes Can i see some more pictures of this? autometer makes these rings to angle the gauges towards the driver, can these fit. Did anyone have to trim, or did they fit right in. 2 1/16 right?
  16. because the crank journals are smaller on a 327.. There is small journal, and large journal 327's
  17. Wow, i didnt think this would be such a big deal That mexican g-body comment, ha. I found the parts out of a elcamino, and installed them in my bu. 350's are fun, i have 2, one in the malibu, and one in my '69 chevy. I have never seen a 302 run, and never heard a sbc turn to 8grand, i want to. The only way im gonna get too is if i go back in time, cause noones runnin one today. aside from the block, and pistons, a 302 isnt any more expensive to build. its the same cam, intake, heads... and the pistons are only about $400 for a set of domed forged pop ups.. my NEW IN THE BOX 283 crank, that when i decoded the numbers showed "for military use" was only $300, did i mention it was new in the box? and the block is only gonna run me about id say $200...
  18. why build the 327 when you can build a 350? Man, i must have answered that about 1000 times. Please lets not make this an arguement post. A 302 can spin to crazy high RPM's. I have never heard a sbc spin to 8,000 (and still make power at that) and i really want too. I want to be the only buy around with a 302, let alone one in a Datsun. i have only seen a few 302's in my life (im only 19) I like to have special things, kinda like conversation pieces. For example. My 79 malibu, i bought it as an automatic, but changed it to a 4 speed. Theres hardly ANY 4 speed g bodies, and i love to talk about it
  19. Guys, i have been looking on ebay like crazy, and searching swap meets... Why can i not find a 327 Small journal block that is at .030 or below that. They made plenty of these motors, and i cant find a block for less than $200... I am dying to build this 302, the block is the hardest part to find..
