  1. Can you tell me more about g-force? Since your gettin all new gears, can you select the ratios? How much was Everything they did? What other helpful info is there?
  2. Thanks for the info on the problems. I just dont know what to do. I dont really want a t56 because of the added weight, and only a elec. speedo. A tko seems like a nice plan, but you sound to be having ♥♥♥♥ of a time, and potentially running into some problems. (i know that is gonna happen to anyone). A rebuilt wc t5, may be option now. I dont know whats goin on. rebuilt t5 will shift better, and is smaller near the top of the tranny, so not too much massaging, but wont be as strong.
  3. About the TKO, You had kiesler mod it? what made you think you would need the modifications? I have every single part figured out for my swap except the tranny. I have no clue what im doing, but i have been lookin towards the a tko. Have you got it installed yet? hows everything workin out? is that the $2000 kit? + bellhousing?
  4. So, i recently purchased an r200 with 3.90 gears also. I am looking to get an lsd unit. I found Percision gears website and you got the "power brute" unit, correct? I couldnt find any prices there. I used the search function, and couldnt find too man answers to my questions, i did see alota crap about LSD clutches tho. Can you give me some other people who sell LSD's for r200's? Why did you decied on percision gear? Do i need to know something before i get an LSD? are there multiple kinds on r200s?
  5. Well, theres a ton. The new 427's are all 100% hand assembled, the LS7, is part of the LS family (ls1, ls2) its fuel injected, has an aluminm block, dry sump, and titanium connecting rods, lots more trick stuff like that. The new ls7 is only in c6-z06's and avalibe in a crate motor thro GM the ls7 would be ALOT easier to fit in a z Both are similar in ways like they will both cost a pretty penny both will make tons of power both will be hard to find (the ls7's are limited in production)
  6. Man, im having the same problem right now. I have been lookin for a wc for some times now, and if i ended up gettin one, i still wouldnt fully trust it, and it would suck if i broke it, and it took forever to get it fixed, or find another one. G-force was mentioned, but i hear they have terrible customer service, and NOONE reccommends them I started lookin at TKO600's with are 5speeds rated at 600 lb tq, but they run $1900. And if your gonna spend that much, why not go ahead and get a t56. Why not just get a t56? They are alot heavier, and i dont want an electronic speedo, but then again, for that 6th gear, it maybe worth it.
  7. I think i will get my R&R leave in june, which is about 2 weeks. They wont tell us when we redeploy to the states, i have heard anywhere from september-december, most likely around thanksgiving. My mothers house is in benbrook, im there on the weekends, i live in fort hood, and my fathers shop where the datsun is, is on mansfield HWY/287, about 4 miles from the 1/8mile track in k-dale. I would love to see that car, the only other one i have seen is phantoms, and a silverone that does some mean street racing. Cool man, i look forward to it
  8. I highly doubt he did all that. Thanks man. I just made this post to make sure i was gonna be able to easly keep my a/c. Thanks guys. Phantom, i feel the need to remind you that your the one that unknowingly got me into all this, when i saw your car, spot, is that picture your projects current state? When this deployment is over, i would love to meet up you guys. that reminds me, do either one of you guys know someone with a world class t5, or a cheap tko?
  9. thanks for the input. Do you run P/S now? if so, where is it at? I dont even know if my datsun had power steering or not, so, that question maybe made me sound like a moron. Thats probably the hardest part of being in Iraq, i cant just run out to the z whenever i want.
  10. I want to run A/C after i do my swap. The jtr book covered this in about half a page, and i didnt really get anything from it. What does it take to run a/c? do i just install a chevy compressor, and run custom lines? is that all there is to it? Thanks guys.
  11. Im in soutern Iraq now, so i cant really go to junk yards. Im trying to have most of the parts waiting for the swap when i return to the states. I look on ebay, and hardly ever find any. Does anyone know of someplace that sells world class t5's? Thanks guys.
  12. I have been a member there for a while. I have been to chris's house "whiteboy" his silver z is awesome. He has one of the fastest cars on the streets that i have seen He had just installed some flame throwers in his exhaust when i got there, i was the first person to watch. bad ***. His cowl hood is sweet too, but custom made.
  13. Ive come to a conclusion... 302, starting with 180cc AFR's. Its kinda hard to swallow spending almost as much on the heads as i did the car. I now have some forged pistons, and with the AFR's being 74cc, i will have about 10.5:1 comp. My goal is not to spin to 8k anymore, that was a little to crazy. A built 302 will not only spin higher RPMS, it will get there, very fast. So, i think the top RPM of this motor should be, 6500. I will still be able to spin up there quickly. Especially with a light flywheel, and a nice balance job. Grump, you suggested a single plane intake? This is gonna be a daily, i maybe wrong, but arnt single planes more for the strip? i mean they usually dont start making power till 2,500 or 3k I need a good cam, and intake selection... Will a holley 650 double pumper (the choke horn is milled, so it should flow a little better than 650) be sufficient?
  14. Perfect, just in the info i was wanting. The rest is awesome, and save me boocoos of money on an aluminum flywheel. So, once you get used to driving with a light wheel, its fine?
  15. WHhat size bell housings do the t5 come with stock. im not trying to buy a new one. Is a clutch hat a word for bellhousing, haha? thanks guys, lots of great, money saving info
  16. I know that guy! i bought my super t-10 with a 3.42 first gear. I picked it up from his house/shop, cool dude. Hes at all the swap meets down here. Thanks!
  17. Im lookin to buy an aluminum flywheel for my combo. I plan on running a world class t5. Do t-5s use 168 , or 153 flywheels? I hear aluminum flywheels make the motor drop in RPMs pretty fast un between shifts, how is this for daily driving. Im trying to build a mild motor, that will rap up very fast, for a daily driver. Does the rapid decrease in RPMs make for jerky shifts?
  18. I used the search function, and it really help. Sparky, what about when you need a jump?does the seat lean forward or anything? thats the only reason im gonna pick my spot very carfully, battery cables have gotta reach
  19. Great! Did you go to a junk yard and pull them? or will i have to go to a hyndai dealership? my side markers currently work as turn signals right? same with the rear ones? so the hyndai ones have a bulb also, right?
