  1. Check the rear brakes.
  2. The rebound valving on the Koni 8610s would be too stiff for the stock springs. What would happen is that in a series of bumps or turns the rebound valve would slow the spring rebound (after a bump or corner) to such a degree that you would lose suspension travel. The spring would pack down until you were riding on the bump stops or had a couple seconds of no spring compression so that the shock would let the spring expand back to normal ride height.
  3. Why are you guys limiting yourselves to 12.5 to 1 CR? The drag guys are getting north of 17 to 1 now on gasoline. Move to methanol or ethanol and you're limited only by the capabilities of aluminum castings and forgings. I think there's a default "streetable" filter set in most people's minds. Once you turn that filter off then a lot of possibilities open up.
  4. Two Zs on hoists is also a good "typical" HybridZ shot.
  5. Unless you get a pair of SRBs its pretty much a useless toy or a very expensive backyard ornament. Maybe the kid can move out of the house and live in the Casa de Shuttle? Ring, ring... "Morton Thiocol, how may I direct your call?" "Hi, my name's Tony and I want to buy two space shuttle SRBs please." "Just a second sir while I transfer you to the FBI."
  6. Admin prerogative: There has to be one picture of a HybridZ on jackstands. I pick this one:
  7. Shoot it down the center of the pinion shaft, not the center of the diff. Make sure the plane hits the center of the trans tailshaft and goes down the centerline of the tailshaft.
  8. Laser level from Home Depot. Make sure you get one that can shoot a plane instead of a spot.
  9. Actually, that little sheet metal piece is stock and covers the vent in the side of the block between 2 & 3. It just got a little work to clear the crank.
  10. Probably violates a few obscenity laws.
  11. An added bonus, if done right, is the ability to use 2.25" or 2" ID springs which saves a little weight and gives another 1/8" to 1/4" more room for wheel backspace and tire width.
  12. Exactly! That's my point. Don't halfass this job because it can easily kill you. Take your time, measure twice, cut once, make sure everything is aligned, and make damn sure the welding is correct. BTW... I'm not trying to discourage anyone from doing this. As I've said in the low cost coilover thread the S30 community really needs a low cost coil over alternative. But make damn sure you do it right.
  13. It applies to both but based on some of the comments in this thread I'm a bit worried about the direction these guys are going. Look back through the thread Jon and see some of the replies. Its a good idea and has been done many times over the years with many different strut equipped cars but it needs to be thought out. Geez, Jon. Some of these guys don't know if the parts they are looking for are steel or aluminum.
  14. Think with ya dipstick Jimmah!
  15. You guys really need to step back and put some more thought into this. Back on 2001-2002 I did some engineering work with EMI Racing and Penske NA to put triple adjustable 8760s on my racing 240Z. We went the same basic route as being discussed here but there was a lot of effort reviewing materials, heat treat, etc.
  16. I agree. You've spent lot of money doing the hybrid swap and are making a lot of power. Why cheap out when it comes to traction? Spend some time searching for a used clutch pack LSD to install in your long nose R200. They come up for sale from time to time with prices from $500 to $800. You can also purchase new with a OS Giken Super Lock for around $1,500.
  17. Come by the shop when you're picking up or dropping off parts. I can get you welding in about an hour - on your own car... .
  18. There differences in the length of the strut tubes: 240Z Strut Tubes Inside Length Front: 15.125" Rear: 16.750" 280Z Strut Tubes Inside Length Front: 14.750" Rear: 18" There are also difference in spring perch height but I don't have those numbers handy.
  19. Not any harder. You just need to stop and move the pins a few more times to complete the 180 degree bend. It sometimes gets a little difficult to remove the tubing from the bender/die when you've bent past 120 degrees.
  20. A lot depends on where its cracked and how it got cracked. Need pictures to offer an opinion.
  21. A couple west coast racers are working to import a load of new Brembo drums but I don't know the progress on that effort. They won't be available at the price you're asking.
