Does anyone know the part numbers for the half shaft bolts/nuts?
johnc replied to rucus01's topic in Drivetrain
Class 10.9 for metric fasteners. M10 x 1.25p. But, the halfshaft nuts are not a standard height, they are a short height nut so the can be threaded on the bolt. The part number I have on a bag is: 08911-24010 -

Actually, some wankers (not from here) claim to have unified everything using strings, branes, and at least 11 dimensions. -

If Einstein, Bohr, and many others were unable to unify Relativity and Quantum Physics I doubt any of the wankers here can. -

FYI... here's one of Burt Rutan's early WW2 designs. It was put into production with a minor change. https://www.strategypage.com/humor/articles/military_jokes_burt_ruttan_b17.asp

No, you drop the brick when I take the shot. -

Well, no... If the brick has is already falling (as implied in your original quesiton) when you shoot, the brick has a head start. If its been falling for about 400 feet then its reached its own terminal velocity. In either case it will be falling faster then the bullet shot out of the gun until the gravity accelerates the bullet to its terminal velocity. Drag also affects the terminal velocity with a brick having a drag coefficient of 2.1 and a bullet in a ballistic trajectory having a drag coefficient of .3. So, I'm will to bet a bunch of money that you're not going to hit the brick if you aim right at it. -
Don't know why everyone is so enamored with a 240mm flywheel. Smaller OD means lower MOI. I ran a 140mm clutch and the carbon/carbon 185mm clutches are like butter on the street. Check out what Quartermaster and Tilton offer.

HybridZ is Changing Its Forum Software Note: If you do not want to read all of this then at least READ THE FIRST TWO SECTIONS BELOW OR YOU MAY PERMANENTLY LOOSE YOUR EXISTING HYBRIDZ ACCOUNT! Know Your Password Make darn sure you know what your password is for your account and that your email address is up to date. DO THIS NOW!!! We cannot stress this enough. You will be required to login to the new forum software once the site is back up. We know most of you stay permanently logged into the site and may have forgotten your password so you need to take care of that now. Make Sure Your eMail Account is Current Make sure your email is up to date. This is the only way the system and the admins can communicate with you. Its the ONLY way password resets can be performed. Make sure your spam filter is not blocking emails from hybridz.org. This is very important because sending the admins requests to reset your password will most likely end up in the trash can for security reasons. This is especially true if you send an email to an admin from an email account that is different than the one listed in your account profile. Don’t even bother. Why is This Happening In short, V-Bulletin has changed hands, got rid of the staff that made VB as good as it was, started charging more $$$ for less forum, latest software of VB is a MESS to say the least. We are converting to Invision Power Board. It has a little different feel and architecture than V-Bulletin. There is also the issue of out photo albums… what can we say? It’s a mess. The new software will have a nicely integrated photo gallery and some other features that are fully integrated within the forum core software. We know a lot of people do not handle change very well and are going to get all bent out of shape about this because it’s “new” and “different”. We are trying to manage this site in a professional manner and prevent a situation where we become more dependent on a product that has a questionable future and seemingly sketchy business practices. Dan has done a lot of reasearch and a lot vB customers are moving to IPB like rats from a sinking ship. He's also talked to a few of these former vB admins and they have been very happy with IPB so far. What You Should Know About the Conversion The time slip database will NOT be converted over. We have a new much nicer time slip application and the data formats are not compatible. It’s going to take about 12 hours to do the full conversion. This will begin on February 20th at approx 5:00am PST. The site will be inaccessible during the conversion. The 1st priority will be to get the forums converted and configured correctly. Once that is done we “may” bring the forums back online while we continue to convert the rest of the data like the photo albums etc. If the site gets hammered to hard and impedes the conversion process we will have to take it down. Our database is over 1 GB large and we have about 30GB in data files, photos, attachments etc to convert. The conversion process is VERY resource intensive. Once the site is back up the very 1st thing you should do after logging in is go to your user control panel and have a look at the setting and configure them to your liking.

The roadster and some of the L16-20 comp pans were cast. The 240Z pans sold by Nissan Comp (and made by Don Oldenberg) were welded up from sheet steel.

Just remember that an aluminum fuel can (that thing is not a fuel cell) will crack and leak in a wreck and you need to strap mount it.

OK, I've never heard of that urban legend. There isn't anything in the S30 braking system that retains brake line pressure. Inside the rear wheel cylinder there's a small spring that keeps the piston in contact with the shoe and the shoes are retracted by the various installation springs. Regarding the residual pressure valves, I know its been tried by some ITS guys before I started racing but I don't know the results. In the community I raced with no one was running that kind of valve. We just adjusted the rear brakes manually before each session.

Pure titanium metal is actually not that strong (63ksi) and loses a lot of its strength if heated over 800F, it needs to be alloyed with other materials to get its legendary strength. So, my answer is: the alloy steel is stronger. Now if you're comparing the 6AL-4V alloy of titanium with alloy steel, I choose the titanium alloy. There's also the BetaC Ti alloy which achieves over 200ksi of strength. -
No such thing. There is nothing on the stock S30 brake system that retains hydraulic pressure after the brakes are released. If your rear disks are dragging either the master vac pushrod is not allowing the MC pistons to fully retract or your e-brake setup on the rear disks is not properly adjusted.

There is no best. -
Its more of a splash tray and it helps keep the oil down near the box. You don't need one but its probably a good idea. Just make sure it doesn't impeded drainback.

That's a homemade pan, not a Nissan Comp pan - at least not one made in the last 20 years.

I think the women were selling copiers. I get a couple people a week trying to sell me office supplies, copiers, etc. I always ask them, "Does it look like I need a case of ink jet printer paper at a great price?"

I'm in the shop working and welding and hammering (adjusting things as I weld) away and I hear something at the front door. I put down the welder and walk to the front door wearing my leather jacket, Speedglas helmet (still down - wonderful things those Speedglas helmets), gloves, and carrying a ball peen hammer. There's two sales women with one holding my front door open and both talking about something. They don't see me walk up until I get right to the door. One woman screams, the one holding the door open turns, screams, lets go of the door and backs into the first woman knocking here onto the grass in front of my shop. The door closes on me and I turn and go back into the shop to finish what I'm doing. About a minute later the front door opens and I hear a woman's voice call, "Hello? Hello?" I figure the Jason approach won't work the second time, so I put the hammer down and flip up the helmet. As I walk into the office both women are there and one has her mace can out. She says, "You scared the crap out of us!" "Sorry." "Why would you do that?" "I didn't, you two scared yourselves." "What?" "I just walked to my front door to find out what was going on and I was wearing what I normally wear at work. I can't help it if you're not used to blue collar folks who don't wear suits on the job." "Well, we thought you were going to kill us." "Don't include me in your Lifetime TV fantasies. Please leave my shop." They left.

Exactly! My old road racing 240Z only had 294 rwhp and it beat lots and lots of 500hp cars around the track.

The length of the spacer depends on the thickness of the flange on the LSD. That thickness varies by LSD manufacturer. There is no definite answer regarding the length of the bolt sleeve. Measure the flange thickness of the differential you are installing and then subtract .5mm. That's the approximate maximum length of the bolt sleeve. I and others have successfully used these steel backed PTFE bronze sleeve bearings from McMaster-Carr: http://www.mcmaster.com/#6679K14 You can also source tubing of the correct ID and machine the correct OD, you can source metric tubing of the correct ID and OD, or you can assembly the unit without any sleeve bearings. All of the above solutions have worked for various members here. The choice is yours. This thread is closed.
