  1. FYI... driving in reverse isn't the highest torque load you can put on the diff mount. A bad downshift that locks the rear wheels puts a pretty good shock load on the mount. I've done that and not had any problems. Even if the mount fails the crossmember is still in place to keep anything bad from happening.
  2. Sorry, the "M" was a writo (a typo with a pen) when I was writing the information down.
  3. You're mistaken. Two bolts hold the GM mount to the diff housing and one bolt attaches to the RT mount. You don't need to drill another hole and two bolts won't make anything better. The mount is in compression under load.

  5. I'm starting this thread to find a source for a bearing in the long nose R200 that's NLA here in the USA. I don't need one right now but at some point this is going to be a problem for all of us. The Nissan part number is: 38335-M3220 and the part number on the bearing is: 83601-ASH. If someone has a source, please post it here. Also, if a better bearing number can be referenced, please post it here. I was able to find on of these bearings by the bearing number listed above, but its in Sydney. You folks in OZ have the last new one that I know of. A similar bearing for the R190 has been NLA for some time and, unfortunately, those units that need the bearing are being scrapped or other units are being scavenged to get replacements.
  6. I don't know what kind of sense of humor your dad has, but now might be the time to sit him down and have a son to father talk about honesty... Glad he didn't get hurt.
  7. If I was the Dad and my son told me that story, I would be skeptical at best... Me thinks Dad was messing around and lost it.
  8. FYI... this is the company that built the Mustang pictured in the wreck above. http://www.tulsacarfx.com/
  9. Some of my notes on the main hoop: The above dimensions are specific to mounting the main hoop on a box built to tie in the floor pan, rocker panel, and rear wheelwell like below:

  15. I'm starting this thread as a collection place for links and pics of roll cages installed in S30s. For those that intend to build their own cage or hire a cage builder I hope this will be a valuable reference. I'm going to lightly police this thread to keep out truly dangerous ideas but there are many different ways to solve this problem so it should be fairly open. FYI... this thread is a "how to" thread by example. Please start a different thread if you have questions about your own cage or bar build.
  16. How about I start a 240Z Roll Cage Example thread and people can contribute to it...

  18. GR2s are essentially stock repalcement shocks. Keep the spring rate under 200.
