  1. I still want a '69 Chevelle 396/375hp, 4 speed, silver with black stripes, black interior.
  2. They are not hard to fab at all. Really simple. My concern is that someone gets hurt and sues my ass when the try to weld the mounts into the car and don't know what they are doing. I think there are a cpouple pictures of the mounts I built at the bottom of this page: http://www.betamotorsports.com/benchracing/miscimages.html
  3. I'm even more curious why he was searching for women's panties...
  4. Wayne Burnstien (sp?), an ITS racer back east, runs Carreras and he's very happy with them. Regarding spring rates for 74_5.0L_Z's car: what do you intend to do with it?
  5. http://www.nsxfiles.com/otc_2004_day5.htm And most HybridZs handle like poo at the track... Let's see what happens to this thread now
  6. C'mon guys! The US consumes 20,000,000 barrels of oil a day. Even if you got the ENTIRE population of the US to not buy fuel on one day it would have no noticeable affect on the import volume. Use your freakin' heads before posting this trash!
  7. I think autocross and track put considerably more loads into the chassis then "V8 torque." I know lots and lots of track Zs that make no more then 200hp have similar chassis degredation problems.
  8. It ain't a V8 Z, but I'll trade you my 240 for your NSX. It would be really cool to beat Hayashi in his own ride. Almost beat him with my 240 back in April.
  9. With my luck I'd try to apex the timing lights at a buck forty five...
  10. Nope, Taylor Race Engineering used a Type A trans bellhousing and machined an adapter.
  11. You'll need that car at ride height and at normal weight to torque the lower control arm bolt, the TC rod end bolt, and the anti-roll bar end links. All others can be torqued at any time.
  12. $18K. You can look at my for sale page (http://www.betamotorsports.com/products/rod4sale.html) and the buyer gets everything except the engine, EMS, intake, exhaust, flywheel and clutch. I might have another use for the engine. edit: I added the flywheel and clutch to the stuff I'm keeping.
  13. There we have it! Finally, a HybridZ that can beat an ITS car on a track. Yup, the Rusty Old Datsun is at 138 at the end of the front straight at WSIR and at 143 in turn 8.
  14. Thunderhill full track including Cyclone - 2:06.295 (ROD's best - 2:00.0xx) Willow Springs big track - 1:33:908 (ROD's best - 1:28.2xx) Buttonwillow 13CCW - 02:03.521 (ROD's best 1:55.1xx) Buttonwillow 13CW - 02:05.601 (ROD's best 1:58.xxx) Cal Speedway - 01:55.134 Street of Willow - ? Sears Point - 1:52.868 (ROD's best 1:48.1xxx) Laguna Seca - 1:44.812 Good luck guys!
  15. Don't need to go that far. I've got a nice custom bracket that fits the balance bar and two Tilton MCs to the stock brake pedal. I called S&P Engineering today (they deisgned and built it for me) to see how much they would sell the bracket for.
  16. Not the first time out. Maybe later this year or early next.
  17. Buttonwillow, Willow Springs, Streets of Willow, and Thunderhill. FYI... I'm not saying a HybridZ can't beat an ITS car, just that no one's done it that I'm aware of.
  18. An update: Some Quaifes can have problems from the factory. I know of two, one of which was the second one I purchased. The diff tends to go open much more easily then it should. In my case, with 300hp pushing it, it would go open all the time and the car basically undriveable around a race track. I sent the diff back to Taylor Race Engineering and they sent it to Quaife UK. Quaife said, "Nothing wrong." Taylor had already fixed a Quaife diff in a Viper that showed the same problem - they increased the internal preload on the diff. I have yet to test the diff they sent back to me with that fix. Another point: Suspension changes with the Quaife tend to be more drastic then I originally thought. I want to do some more testing, but I think I'll be moving to a more east coast Z suspension setup (no rear anti-roll bar and bigger front springs) to see if that helps put the power down better.
  19. Ya know... (a little self serving post here) If someone wanted to, they could buy my car as a roller (no engine) and pretty much bolt in an RB26. The Quaife sequential trans has an L6 bolt pattern bellhousing. That would be apretty easy way to shut me up...
  20. I don't think anyone can make such an absolute statement. Remember, speed at the end of the straight is a COMBINATION of acceleration rate, acceleration time, and exit speed from the previous corner. If ITS car #1 hits the corner apex at 90 mph and V8 Z #2 apexes at 70 mph, car 1 has two advantages at the start. The first is that car 1 is generally able to get on the gas sooner so it has more time to accelerate and car 1 also started the acceleration run from a higher speed. The speed difference at the end of the straight won't be anywhere near as great as most people think 'cuz most folks think in terms of a drag race heads up start. And we can't use the "all things being equal" arguement because I have yet to hear of a V8 (or any hybrid) Z match the ITS lap record at any of the tracks I race on.
  21. Test, test, test, test, and test. Put some used, but not worn out tires on the car ('cuz you're going to flat spot them) and rent a skid pad or find an open test day at a local track.
  22. He, he... happens everytime. Start saving for the enclosed trailer and the F350 dually...
  23. Its a matter of taste - do you want to see what you're going to hit or do you want it to be a surprise.
  24. The most lucid and thought provoking blog concerning the Iraq war that I've come across. Lots of historical context: http://belmontclub.blogspot.com
