  1. had a look thanks your car sure looks sweet hope mine turns out as good can see your o2 justy behind end of header thanks mick
  2. hi everyone dropped my car in to have exhaust fitted yesterday as im working away im leaving it with exhaust shop to do over the week question exhaust guy asked where to put O2 sensors do they need to be a certain length from heads any idea any input would be much appreciated going with twin 2.5" from extractors to 2.5" cats (yeah i wish i didnt have to put them in but need to for rego) back to single muffler under tail shaft twin 2.5" in and out back to single muffler with twin 2.5" in and single 3" out it was so good having first drive on highway was very controlled running straight out of headers and it was raining too but wow it sure light those back tryes up so easy and pulled like a train in any gear mick
  3. well i can only say how i did my ls1 I left std datsun wiring loom in place (well intact and rerouted to keep engine bay clean) i used the std oil pressure and temperature pick ups to run std guages the alternator light std alternator lead to alternator i had my std ls1 loom modified so that guy removed all plugs i didnt need and fitted leads out of it that i needed to supply inputs to or control from pcm as well as fitting relays and power supply to pcm hot ignition feed for starting ,starter feed and power feed from igntion when in run position leads out of ls1 loom where tacho feed speedo signal feed voltage pickup fuel pump power lead thermo fan lead reverse light feed fitted relays for thermo fans and fuel pump starter and igntion hope that helps mick
  4. hi i had guy in victoria modify my std commodore loom to suit install into my 240z name is Matt runs under the name injected holdens he is very helpful guy did great job with my loom and it fitted fine and would have fired up fine if 4 injectors had been working its running fine now just tidying up other things before i fit exhaust and get my first real drive been up and down the road a couple times with exhaust straight out of extractors your car sure looks awsome with my loom matt gave me speedo output leads plus tacho feed matts internet site is http://www.injectedholdens.com/ i do have a list of pins for std computer and what they do also wiring diagram on disc not sure if it covers dash or not if you want copy of either one let me know pvt me if you want his mobile number mick
  5. having put an ls1 into a right hand drive car with one of johns cars kit i can tell you your main concern is going to be right hand side header i ended up fabricating my own right hand header as i ended up with the biggest area i could run header outlet out a hole 3" by 4" didnt click with me that johns car kit offsets enging to right hand side by 25 mm so if i had thought i may have been able to look at modifying the mounts to mount engine more central or to left would have given more room to run header ideas i have now that would have improved problem but at a cost greater than fabricating my header are buy relocating kit to place starter on left hand side of engine gets it away from steering side But about $900 aus for kit would consider running with johns car kit right hand side engine mount on both left and right hand side as i see it this is more like the jtr style rear offset mount as it mounts further forward on engine giving more room for headers on both sides am told these style mounts are now readily avliable and on a 240z lines up with orginal engine mount just my ideas but the i reckon the ls1 is a amazing motor and the aftermarket is huge but be you need patience taken me 3 years and im hoping for first drive this weekend then off to get exhuast put on mick
  6. yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee it finally runs thanks for the help guys finally got it going and it was nothing youd expect got computer back plugged it in with noid light yep one injector firing thought i wanted to be sure so i pulled injectors out and hooked them up upside down on top of the motor only the left bank was shooting fuel out so i pulled out spare manifold i bought off ebay (those bargins always pay off just go to wait ) tried injectors from spare manifold the same way and all 8 fired fuel so fitted that set injectors and hit start away it went man it sounds great straight out of headers now i can start finishing things off putting guards back on and cooling fans plus tacho and speedo connections but thanks heaps for the help still smiling like and idiot mick
  7. i ran fuel lines in normal position down tunnel then just ran them across behind engine and up to fuel rail brake lines i drilled holes into inner guards below master cylinder and mounted brake bias and brake emergency sensor on inner wheel well ran lines back from there clean engine bay up heaps mick
  8. gonna fit a obdii plug so i see if its showing any codes yes still no fuel in cylinders thanks mick
  9. waiting for computer to come back from tuner thanks for all your ideas have purchased noid light today to check injectors and will check all connections plus power to pins tomorrow have also bought spare computer which has arrived before mine orginal came back but need to turn off securities before i use that one dont have codes to check how do u check codes is that through obdii to usb converter so u can read codes as i dont have one im working away at the moment so i only get weekends to try ideas really annoyed computer isnt back to try ideas suggested here mick
  10. ok yeah i started to wonder if that was what the computer guy meant when he said 4 earths have checked the pins 1 and 40 on both red and blue plugs and they all earth out thanks mark mick
  11. to me the real question here is can anyone see the reason jci had for using the standard camaro mount and the long metal bracket on body instead of suggested idea using same the right hand side mount on both sides seems to me it would give room for left hand steering cars as well as opening options up for right hand steer would allow more space for potential long tube headers as even with the jtr headers the left hand side is a tight fit i had to cut base connector off jtr header and welded some 2.5" tube to give me the clearance i was happy with that was after angling rear of left hand engine mount where it mounts to tension rod braket so the engineers here think this mounting system would be strong enough or does jci mount give better strength and stop engine torquing mick
  12. have checked that pins 1 and 40 in both harnesses are connected to earth didnt splice loom just connected needed wires and removed any unused plugs VinZXT can u confirm if theres more than 2 earth points on engine computer person told me there where 4 but i can only locate 2 as for fuel i did read post on here about correct fuel lines though the gto fuel rail only has single fuel line input (no return line off fuel rails) have placed walbro pump in tank ,pumping to aeromotive adjustable fuel regulator with main line running to injector rail and return line from regulator running back to tank this is mounted at tank as per gto tank install have fuel pressure guage in line showing 58 psi at manifold when ignition is turned on and during cranking pulled fuel line off and check for flow pumps fuel fine thanks mick
  13. will check it but didnt think it would spark if crank angle sensor wasnt connected thanks mick
  14. havent actually wired mine in but as far as i could tell was going to wire black to earth red to positive power feed from ignition side of switch and white wire to speed sensor in gearbox got guy who did wiring loom mods to identify speed sensor wire from gearbox mick
  15. have checked injector power at injectors power is there both in run and start postion I am assuming injectors arent pulsing as im getting no fuel in cylinders when i check plugs there dry no evidence of fuel thanks for your ideas
  16. have pulled spark plugs out and they are sparking when engine cranks will get noid light and check injectors with one thanks
  17. ok so i finally got everything to the stage where i believe motor should start but it wont please help basic what i have 99 ls1 manual from gto (or as we know it here commodore ) std wiring loom modified to suit computer had securities (vats) switched off and tuned mafless have sent computer back and had it checked that securities turned off have tried with maf plugged in and out running walbro internal fuel pump with external adjustable aeromotive fuel reg 02 sensors connected but hanging in mid air no exhaust from headers down air temp sensor connected evap is not connedted from outlet but is connected to mainifold What i know of situation plugs fire, engine cranks over, fuel pump fires up, have fuel pressure to injectors pressure guage in line, have power to injectors, power to computer pins 19,20,57 earths to 1 and 40 on computer, my guess is injectors are not firing which is why i got computer checked for securities turned off correctly but wasnt that computer guy suggests earths would cuase this problem says there should be 4 on engine but i can only find 2 one on front right hand side head black and red wire other one at rear of left head can anyone tell me where other earths are or any other suggestions take any ideas been bashing my head on this for 3 weeks now ready to burn the lot please help thanks Mick
  18. i made my own mount for rear of alternator out of 5/16 steel to mount rear of alternator its same as alloy factory one just goes up a bit higher to clear engine mount also cut down plastic cover around alternator post and made thinner nuts to bolt lead to positive post its a close fit but still works with jci kit got caught with shifter cut tunnel to match gto gear lever then realised id it was too far back so bought after market gearlever set it up but it leant forward so i heated and bent to suit also cut lots off the lever mick
  19. hi not sure if it will work but ive already had my tacho converted to suit v8 from previous v8 install have got guy who did wiring loom mods to give me signal wire for tacho so hopefully that will work its in the jtr book how to convert tacho to v8 just add resistor from memory if all goes well (and it isnt at the moment got engine wired and ready to start last weekend but it cranked built up fuel pressure, plugs sparked but injectors not firing have traced fault talking to guy who modified loom has told me how to solve at moment but working away)so fingers crossed will here it run for first time this weekend and i can tell u then if tacho works mick
  20. looks like book i bought not 100 % sure its the same one but pretty sure The one i got was waste money told you very little just heaps of numbers and what each pin did nothing about wiring colours or what wires u need to connect to make engine run youd get more info off here or ls1.com but that said i ended up paying guy to do my loom he pulled out all connections i didnt need and left ends hanging out that i needed to connect i sure with time u can follow them all out but i didnt want to blow computer up so i paid so i say save your money and just searche here or ask questions ive seen guys advertising on ebay that do looms in usa for $150 sounds cheap way to go to me paid more here in australia mick
  21. hi aaron (Vindicare) i started this project back in 2005 and have approval from tasmania transport for the install car is currently registered as V8 from previous engine install as we dont have the dotars system in tasmania i cant help you with that but i have seen peter (boyfromoz) submission for nsw rego he sure did a lot of work on it and he has recieved approval I know of another person currently talking to engineer in south australia though not sure how hes gone with that so all i can say is it possible in tassie and nsw not sure on victoria Thanks for your kind words mike (m1noel) you and other ls1 owners on hybridz have been my inspiration to keep going when ive hit the problems along the way so thankyou car is very close just needs little time to allow me to start it and finally get to drive it again though with nearly double the old hp cant wait Mick
  22. keep trying jtr they will come back to you not always the quickest but good products and they will get back to u and freight will be no where near $50 mick
  23. hi i know theres plenty pics of zeds with ls1 but i got to brag somewhere finally got my engine sitting in place cant wait to start it as far as i know its the first in australia using johns car kit not sure if its first 240z in australia with ls1 all up but im pretty happy with the fit right hand side header was a right night mare but it fits now yippee mick
