  1. Yep, just what he said. My starter mounts to the two in parallel, but some starters mount using the diagonal holes. Some of the high torque mini starters from Jeg's & Summit can use either if I'm not mistaken. The pics have been great BTW and make it much easier to diagnose a 'problem.' And you don't have many Davy
  2. If I was keeping the L6, I would CERTAINLY convert to one of these--my fusable links were the source of much frustration in my 260Z. Davy
  3. Extremely 'clean' fabrication and install. Very nice work. Looks like it belongs in there. Davy
  4. Where? A motorcycle wrecking yard? This is basically what I want to do, but I'm not sure where exactly to get one. Davy
  5. Uuuuuuugh. I totally missed it someplace in this thread that you had a ZX not a Z. MSA is cool for the parts, but that kit I showed you earlier will NOT work for a ZX. JTR does not apply to the ZX at all really, but the book is helpful for swaps in general. Greimann and Ross C. are two guys on this board that have V8 ZX's. I believe that they 'easily' fabricated the spacers/mounts for their V8's, although a kit is available from MSA. Sorry for the confusion. Davy
  6. The starter I have bolts to my 350 block, not the T5 bellhousing. The starter came off of a late 80's to early 90's Camaro with 305 V8. It would be easier to replace the starter then the block The bolts go thru the starter and bolt UP into the 'flange' that sticks out from the block--you should have two holes for such a provision. Hope this makes sense. Davy
  7. They are completely different. Here is the link for JTR: http://www.jagsthatrun.com They position the engine and tranny for best weight distribution, lowest and back furthest. The JTR book is very well thought out and made for the guy who likes to be given the option of either buying the parts or making simple parts himself. Use the search function to find the very long and sometimes heated arguments about what kit is 'best' for the V8 conversion. If you have not done proper research about this topic and the pitfalls of doing a V8 conversion, you may end up making decisions and doing things that you regret. The whole purpose of this forum was to help guys doing V8 conversions in their Z cars; the info is there-go get it and good luck!!! That said, there is a MSA kit for sale on ebay right now (for what it is worth, I would go MSA before JCI, and JTR before anything else in that order) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2403429666 Davy
  8. eBay is the only place I have seen these turn up periodically. Davy
  9. BECAUSE YOU CAN SAVE MONEY DOING IT YOURSELF AND LEARN SOMETHING, THAT'S WHY! Don't let your excitement cloud your thinking; what he just gave you was good advice. Truly, the mounts can be fabbed for next to nothing and you can put money elsewhere. Plus, the JTR setback plates can get that engine back almost against the firewall so your ultra-short tranny will not have the stickshift coming out of the dashboard. Just some thoughts. Davy
  10. I agree with Mike on this one: you'll end up spending more money reconditioning the heads then they are worth in terms of performance gains, etc. I think you are better off buying Dart heads or something of that nature if you like cast iron. Aluminum heads are lusty and light although they are more expensive. I'm always on the prowl for some hipo heads too!! Davy
  11. Ah! 1969 Camaro: my favorite year!!! Very nice looking project car with very clean lines. If I don't like the turbo V8 conversion in the Z, it goes in a Camaro!! Nice garage too BTW...shoot, I like it all... Davy
  12. Some people are just too competitive!! Why, I would never do anything to increase my # of posts!! :D Go, Pete, Go!!! Davy
  13. Thomas, you made the best looking 'kit' for a Z that I have ever seen; extremely tasteful and very well balanced looks. I wish I had that on my Z!! Davy
  14. Very nice work, Z-Tard. You make it look easy!! Davy
  15. Thanks, Greimann, for all that information. You are extremely helpful and I very much appreciate it! Davy
  16. Do black like the one that Tom Cruise drove in "Vanilla Sky." Davy
  17. Just listening to what you are saying...this whole thing is about "CONTROL," and she has you by the balls. She has some deep need inside her to be in control of the whole shebang and manipulate you for her own sick pleasure. Ask youself, "Am I a glutton for punishment? Is this really worth it?" Man, just listing all of this makes me think that she is a self-interested, controlling person. Sounds like you are trying WAAAAAYYY too hard to make this 'work.' You will be miserable unless she matures....it's probably NOT going to happen soon, but maybe over 10 years... I have been in this sick type of relationship, and finally SHE was the one that broke it up, but not before trying to seduce my best friend, etc, etc to make me mad and control me, etc. I have to tell you that if you have to work this hard to make a relationship work out, you are with the wrong woman. Get someone with real heart, depth of character, and some values, otherwise you will be miserable my friend. That's why I married my wife---11 years going STRONG! My $.02 Davy
  18. Hey Greimann, any chance that you would know the kit's part # ? That would be absolutely fab if you could post that. Davy
  19. Great! Only I'm sure this was not the Z!!!! lol Davy
  20. I thought the briquettes burn with a more 'white' smoke then that? lol Good thing he didn't get BBQed... Davy
  21. And I have heard the exact opposite, that lots of silicone is NOT good. Personally, baby oil might be a very good thing to put on it; sounds crazy, but I have heard that the stuff is better then silicone-based chemicals. You could also try a place like Griots Garage and buy their plastic and rubber preservative (no silicone). My $.02 Davy
  22. Pretty wild, although a Z can be made fast with only one turbo, two would be insane. Picture something similar with one turbo and fitting under the hood; that's what I'm up to. I still need an IC... Davy
  23. Don't even get me started on this topic!! I have been collecting roughly DOUBLE the suspension parts to keep one on the car while I drive it, and the other for modifications, powdercoating and/or painting---it is just out of hand I tell you. Davy
  24. If you can't find a 153 tooth flywheel, you can buy one from http://www.northernautoparts.com/ProductDetail.cfm?ProductId=1039 . Keep in mind they have stock replacement ones for less. Davy
