  1. Best news of the day Davy
  2. Ernie, Mikelly's sentiments are exactly my own as well. I'm pissed off at whatever you had to endure through PMs if it's making you leave the site. I always thought of you as the godfather of the paint & body forum. For everyone else: I know Ernie and have spent hours speaking with him over lunch, etc. He has always been extremely honest and forthcoming with all his knowledge--there is no need to ever dog him regarding what may be another way of doing things in paint & body---this is one reason why I added this sticky to the paint & body forum: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=115242 Apparently this approach was not enough and too gentle handed. Note that Ernie didn't complain to me or anyone else about getting nastygram PMs. I'd love to know who was sending him crap like that Ernie has always been a help to everyone and a large part of this site, frankly. To say I'm not happy right now is the understatement of the year. Ernie, please consider not completely dropping your membership here. We would love to have you come back around and still be a part of this site, especially if time permits. I have been so busy in my move to NC that I have neglected logging in here to read the important stuff. You'll be missed Davy
  3. The move time is nearly upon me and I have to get the Z to Charlotte. I have found very little in the way of transporters that I feel comfortable with (part of that is not having the time to do proper research). So I'm at a place where the-more-cash-I-have, the-better-the-transporters-look kind of place. Also, my corporate housing is an apartment of sorts without a garage, so storing the non-running Z is not an option. Question: do the local storage companies allow storing of an automobile? Here in CA (Bay Area at least), they don't want to do that anymore due to "regulations." Phooey. I hope NC is better for that. Anyone want to put up with my ailing Z for a few weeks? Davy
  4. The car ended up with his father last I heard a few years ago. I think Pete wrote that in a thread a long time ago. Those are Pete's wheels I believe. Somewhere I have that issue of CHP! Thanks for scanning that in, John!! Davy
  5. Funny, but I started reading the thread and immediately thought of Ron and his budget build V8 Z car. Read a little more and *bam!* there is the example I thought of---it certainly has my vote! Also, there was another Z, Ford V8 conversion (junkyard conversion) that was done fairly well and would qualify too. I remember the car having two racing stripes offset to one side of the car (it was a black 240Z?). The guy had a page on his conversion as well. I can't find it, sorry. Davy
  6. Hooverc@TurboHoses.com I think this is Hoover's company. I'm not sure if he's still local. http://www.turbohoses.com/ Davy
  7. Freddy, Scottie-GNZ had such a car and it was hellaciously fast. I think he had the first one on the forum. He parted out the Z, so no more. I believe scottieMIz also has one?? Someone else probably knows. There's one other at least. Davy
  8. BRAAP is selling his Q45 V8 and that would look unbelievable under the hood! Davy
  9. Hmm, I think you're correct. Rocks, cherries, what's the difference? I'm just glad I'm getting out of CA! Davy
  10. Ah, you were the one I was thinking of that has transported a few Z's here already, right Sparks? I'm not sure if I can find a Z going in the opposite direction, but that does makes sense. Hopefully, someone that needs it done reads this thread! Davy
  11. The one in the middle with the ZG flares rocks. I like that...dare I say it's cute?!? Nice work. Davy
  12. Anyone know if any of these companies will transport a car that's not running? I think most won't, so my car may need a flat bed. The one local company I called quoted me $0.65/mile and I nearly spewed coffee over the computer monitor and phone. That's nearly $2000 from CA to NC. I have some calling and emailing to do... I don't want to sell my car! Davy
  13. UPDATE: As it turns out, the office I'll be working out of is actually in Cherry Hill, SC, about 20 minutes outside of Charlotte. This means I'll want to locate a house south of Charlotte or in one of the towns to the south, for a better commute obviously. So, is the area in the south part decent? Any towns better than the other? Options? Advice? Bueller? Thanks for the advice, guys. As an aside, I'm in the last hours' thrash getting the house remodeled. I actually believe I can finish this house project before the end of the month. This leaves a problem though: My Datsun isn't running and very few transportation companies will take a non-running car, apparently. I have to find a transporter before the end of the month *ugh* Davy
  14. Very very cool. You're ride is nearly finished and it already looks stunning, even in the paint booth! Davy
  15. Congrats!! Thanks for keeping us posted. Maybe a video of the car doing a smokey burnout later?? Davy
  16. I already know I'm going to love the state and I really can't wait to get my house here FINISHED in the next two weeks. We've boxed up nearly everything, just to move it out of the rooms so we can paint, etc. I'm involved in the biggest thrash to get things done that I ever have in my life. I think I've been up to 2 am or more these past few nights and I was nodding off at my desk today *ugh*. It will be great to be in Charlotte and just chill....at work. I hope to meet all the guys over time!!! Davy
  17. Garry, Search for Subaru rack, Miata rack, Mustang rack... ...and there's probably more that have been adapted. There is nothing "bolt-in" and you'll have to search a little to get the info from the site. Cheers, Mate. Davy
  18. Mark, I think the move will work out fine for me. I have been told by a number of people to just rent out my house here. Really, I don't want to miss out on freeing the equity in my house so that I can buy property in NC and not owe anything on it. I'm tired of carrying a mortgage (at least on my own home) and this will certainly alleviate that. It's a blessing and I don't think I'll pine for the Bay Area much after I move. Besides, I'm tired of seeing my state taxes go for blah blah blah... You know, the biggest draw for me to "the South" (besides the beautiful topography) was the people. As of today I have been to FL, VA and GA and I enjoyed the friendliness, genuineness, and relatively relaxed way of living in those states. Nearly everyone I have spoken to who has visited NC, that lives there, has lived there, or who has family there, simply loves the place. I don't think I'll be disappointed Good BBQ too Davy
  19. You know, I'm not sure. I'll look it up and see if I can get the information before Monday. Davy
  20. I get warm inside just thinking about it Z's Z's and more Z's!!! Davy
  21. Thanks for the welcome, guys! Al: I have to be there by July 1. mark: that's the kind of advice I need, thank you. I think the company is handing everything, but if need be, I'll holler for a real estate agent. jknc90: thanks! dat240zg: Funny, but my wife thinks that Waxhaw is waaay outside of Charlotte. I'll keep it in mind. Thanks for the tips. Austin: Thanks for the I77 warning. I figured that NC would be good for a few 'parts' being NASCAR country and all I'll be looking a little bit and busting my tail trying to get ready to leave. I have a feeling I'll be gone before my wife & kids will, but that's life. Thanks again for all the info--it's what I need Davy
  22. Ah, the other shoe dropped in the form of a phone call from a superior who told me I would not be relocating to Atlanta, GA. I was a bit bummed when he said that because Mike kZ and large group of HybridZers are out there too Anyway, the good news is I am still relocating to a nice place and working in Charlotte, NC! The position within the company is even better for me so I'm stoked AND I know that there are more than a few HybridZers out that way too So, my question is this: is there anyone who knows where the best place to live in or near Charlotte is? I need to buy a 6 bedroom home and would love to have a 3 car garage. I'm open to living outside the city in a small town so long as the commute is decent (under 45 min) and the schools (this is important) are very good. I'll be in corporate housing for a couple of months while my house sells in the Bay Area, so I'm not really in a "hurry" to find something. Heck, I can even rent for a while during my quest. Thanks for any info! Davy
  23. Happy Birthday indeed! Many happy returns!! Davy
  24. NICE. Sounds like me just changing the oil on my truck! Well done Davy
