  1. Ah, that's the name of it. It's been three years so I just forget the little stuff!!! Thanks for the info, Strotter. Davy
  2. Actually we do. Go to the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) part of the forum and look up the first or second title referring to exactly what you are asking for. Please READ before you post. Or you'll get banned and flamed, but not exactly in that order. Davy Locked!
  3. He's the in the greater SF Bay Area. I don't think the police in our city have as much "tolerance" for this kind of thing. Aux, Dragonfly has the best advice so far. I'd lock up the guns if I was you. Davy
  4. Hmmm, the general marketing of "ceramic coated" headers is for a bright finish. I would think flat black would be suspect. Are your headers flat black like your buddy's? Summit sent you them and they should describe them. If you have flat black ones, I'd call them up and discuss your order. I think their customer service is great, just don't start yelling and they should be receptive. Davy
  5. Z or Falcon. Falcon is closer, yes, but the Z is the same color as your old one, so how can you pass that up? I'm biased toward Z cars. The Falcon would be cool, though, with a 351 and radiused rear wheel arches. Z will always be quicker. Davy
  6. Guys, it's just another thing to get pulled over for. If they get you on anything else, you can bet this will be on their list. You can't mess with a license plate, period and you must have a front plate in CA as per the law. Yes, it's not well enforced, but if you get pulled over... By the way, I've had my Suburban w/o front plate for nearly 5 years now, but I won't run my Z that way. No cop gives the Suburban a second glance. Davy
  7. These are some of the prettiest welds I have ever seen. In fact, I think nearly all the welds done on the recent work to the car look like this. Were you the welder?? Excellent work; I doubt anyone can do better. Davy
  8. Awesome work, Scott!! I can't believe that you could improve on the design of the car, but you did just that--it's even better now! Davy
  9. Brian, the work is coming along nicely!! Thanks for posting the pics. If you have a thread going under Member's Project's, it would be good to post them there too!! Good resolution on the photos and decent lighting by the way. Davy
  10. OK, Pete, so they just have to send their upper door trim (the metal bracket part of the panel that's riveted to hardboard for the door panel) correct? The finished door panels look pretty good to me and provide a 6" speaker mount hole, correct? If the guys wanted to, they can still use their original armrests if they want to, right? Just clarifying for all the questions that will get asked! Thanks for the email. Davy
  11. Great pictures. Love the wedding ring. Anyway, they look great with the 50's series tires, kind of a "chunky" old school look. Heh, I like it. Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting the size of the wheel so that we won't get 10 posts asking about the wheel size. Hrm, you could amend your first post and provide the price, retailer, offset, and bolt pattern just to stave off any other possibilities. Nice wheels, man. At least you can SEE where your money is going Davy
  12. Man, I'm done with typical lead/acid batteries. I second Bartman's recommendation on the Optima or similar spiral cell battery! I HATE the leaks that come from a typical lead battery. All my Datsuns through the years, without exception, had leaking batteries. Same with any Chevy too When I put the Optima in my Suburban, problem solved. Money WELL SPENT in my humble opinion. Same goes for the Z. If the batteries from the previous owners would not have leaked, there would not have been a rust issue below the battery tray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did I mention I like Optima batteries? Davy
  13. Jon, I have been thinking about the seal in particular and was wondering what to use in this case. Tape? It may sound stupid, but what material comes to mind? The only thing I can think of is gaffer's tape or maybe aluminum tape. Anyone have better suggestions? *please* Davy
  14. Smart man. That's a good way to do business. I'm glad you are into making niche parts for niche vehicles like our Davy
  15. If he's new to Z cars, he might not know what they are. Watanabe's are not as common here as some similar styled wheels, such as Panasports. Davy
  16. It's no TPI. I believe Don's car has a Miniram, but I'm not exactly sure. However, I am sure that 1) it's aftermarket and in no way stock and 2) it's programmable FI that brought him into the very very low 11's in the 1/4 mi with the 383 Gen 1 motor you see there. Simple JTR + aftermarket efi = very effective. It's the smoothest and fastest Z's I have driven to date. No bugs in that one--he's used it as a daily driver for years although now, with gas at over $3.50/gal, I'm not sure anymore. Davy
  17. Sweet! Can't beat it for that price!! Almost too nice to keep it outside too Davy
  18. When I was in Germany a few years back, I had one pass me on the autobahn. I was driving my mother's Golf at the time and doing 85 mph--no lie! I was shocked to see one going that fast, so maybe the engine wasn't stock? Kinda cool cars. The "store" that sells them in Munich is mostly glass on the outside and has an exterior elevator that revolves the cars...pretty cool. Davy
  19. Doc, the car looks great and I think your son is getting ready to hug the car in the first pic! I would too if it were mine!! Davy
  20. Nah, if they get glassed in, they eliminate the rivet "dimples" and everything gets smoothed over. Those flares are almost the exact size of ZGs. Davy
  21. Actually, his setup is pretty "text book." I found nearly the exact thing inside the new "Paint-you-car-on-a-budget" by Pat Ganahl. The hobbyist is exempt from a lot of things here in CA. Those are some of the few liberties we have left and we cherish them. That said, smell is the only concern with the neighbors, but the houses in that neighborhood are spaced apart very well and there is plenty of foliage to camo sight and smell. Davy
  22. Forces, if they look like they are ceramic coated, they probably are. I don't think Summit intentionally screws people by sending them silver painted headers. Has their customer service slipped that much? Anyway, about the header wrap. dmanzo57 on this site has his block huggers wrapped. I can't find a picture at the moment, but he wrapped the majority of the headers as I recall. I'm sure allowances have to be made when you get to the parts that are very close together. Maybe Don has a pic or two. I'll look. You can also email or PM him--just search for his member name. Pic is courtesy of Auxilary's website. Davy
  23. If gas prices are an issue, go with the Miata. I'm not so sure about the "gay" thing. Working in San Francisco, I can tell you that the Miata isn't the car of choice... ...it's whatever Aux is driving currently JUST KIDDING! C'MON ALEX, lighten up. Only a joke, man. Davy
