  1. You have to rack up some posts before the software 'allows' you to do so. Great find for $150! Hopefully it's not a rust case... Davy
  2. The one thing, besides the way it might look not to your liking, is that the ZG flares are curved along the body lines of the Z fenders. Doesn't the JCR kit make the fenders more slab-sided, ie flatter? In other words, the ZG flares won't sit flush to the JCR kit. That, my friend, will be the biggest obstable to overcome. A good body shop should be able to bring the flares out farther than they are now and there are a couple of ways, at least, to do this. I suppose you have to think about what you want first---try photoshopping the car first and see what it looks like before applying the rivets and epoxy. Davy
  3. Shoot, I almost want to make this a 'sticky.' Excellent advice, Mike!!! Davy

    06 vette

Sweet! I was at the SF Int'l Auto Show with my father-in-law last week and man, did the Vette's look sweet! It was great to sit in them and at least feel them inside. Any modifications planned for it or just keeping it stock? Davy
  5. This turbo is certainly not a stock one, although you may be correct. I had lengthy conversations and emails with Scottie GNZ about 2 years ago regarding this turbo and what it could do. It came from one of his racer friends who has an extremely quick GN. If it can support well over 500 hp on a V6, why shouldn't it support that on a V8? Maybe I'm missing something here. Bigger is not always better for turbocharging I'm finding out. I'm not trying to steal this thread! Davy
  6. Hopefully RacerX can also comment as well; I'm sure he has worked with the stuff as well. You might want to PM him or email him. Just a thought. Looks like you've gotten good advice so far from iaconsutants. Davy
  7. 240hoke is correct, this thread is over 1 year old. Troy, there is a vendor's forum on thissite for businesses to sell their products. Bringing up a very old thread like this for the purpose of a sale is in bad taste. You are free to answer technical questions, etc, as does Ross Corrigan of MML or Mike Knell of JTR, but please stick to the vendor's forum otherwise. Thank you. Davy
  8. If you read the article: "The Z-car's contact patch is provided by three-piece Chevlon Sport wheels special ordered from Japan by DAZZ Motorsports. The mesh-style aluminum (17x8 front, 17x9 rear) is wrapped by Dunlop SP9000 rubber." Davy
  9. I have purchased from Too Intense Restoration in the past and had good luck with them. I recommend them. Davy
  10. Ooooo. That would be too logical for me to attempt. The McMaster weatherstrip I have in my Z and the doors are no too difficult to close. However, SLIGHTLY repositioning the door hinges might do the trick so they feel like a 'new' 240Z. I may have to do that next summer. Good idea. Davy
  11. LOL!! Gosh, you're right. I'll have to nix the aftermarket paint job, the fiberglass flares, 16" rims, aftermarket suspension, V8, Camaro T5, the AutoMeter gauges, the Flofit seats, the.... ....after I remove all that stuff and replace it with "OEM" equipment, I'll have finally arrived. Davy
  12. Yep, looks similar. I like Tod's car....very clean. Davy
  13. You should try ebay for starters--I've seen them there. Davy
  14. I have been waiting for an update on your project, knowing that you had that TTV8 in the works; man, it's looking pretty good and now, it is coming very close to completion. I'm doing a single GN turbo V8 conversion and shooting for a 'reasonable' 500-600 hp. I'm still far from finished on the V8 conversion itself, so I have nothing to show for it. Kudos to you for getting as far as you have!!! Davy
  15. So they're bashing that on Zcar.com, eh? Figures! Tha's a very nicely done JTR conversion with a Jim Cooke (sp?) "California Z" body kit. I really like it---it's nice inside & out, upside & downside. There's not a whole lot "wrong" with it either...add a shift boot and you're ready to go. Davy
  16. Just keep at it---make a plan and stick to your plan. Make a timeline and give yourself deadlines if you can.... ....man, I wish I'd listen to my own advice. I figure that I'm telling you to do the opposite of what I've done so that you'll make some progress Seriously, if you can't do it all, don't. Get some POR 15 on the rust and go from there. Having a perfect car is a near impossibility if you are still going to school unless you have some serious $$$$ and expertise. Good luck!! Davy
  17. Good find. If you got it cheap, then it is more than made up for by the value of the parts on the car/engine excluding the car itself. Nice hood--looks like a one off or custom job. Nice project for the next 5 years! Davy
  18. Terry O (BlueOvalZ) is using solid mounts for his car and he doesn't mind them. I guess it comes down to personal preference. Davy
  19. Dave, guys are doing all of the above on the Z. You'll find that (if you use the search function) there are stock biscuit users, poly users, and solid mount users---all have their benefits. It sounds like you should take a look at the JTR manual and read it, even if you are good fabricator, since that (JTR kit) is what the majority of the Chevy guys use. Just do a lot of reading in thw site, because it has all the information you are asking about and it has most likely been rehashed several times over. Check out some of the guy's own websites and their racing Z cars---the drag cars in particular---see what they have done to reinforce the chassis. Good luck! Davy
  20. Hmmm, I just think I corrected myself: all the Bitter clubs seem to be German. Opel is made in Germany, soooo I think this is actually a 'hand built' German car. I like it. The more I read about it, the cooler it is, but it is lacking in the power dept. David K is correct in saying that the prices of parts seem to be reasonable. The Bitter prototype cars look pretty cool too. Davy
  21. Some have plexiglass floors to see out of. I saw a show the other day and the guy had some kind of braking system in the wheelie wheels to help maintain direction if he gets a bit off course. Isn't this a bit like 'drifting?' It's a show and looks cool, but it's not really a race or anything. Just a thought. I can feel the flames a comin'!!! Davy
  22. They come with a Rover V8 or something like that, correct? If so, it should be a good car. If it eventually becomes a third car, a turbocharged LS2 swap could be in order...mighty fun then. Still, the car looks like a Ferrari and as I remember them they were very posh rides. Glad to hear you are keeping it. Davy
  23. I always liked the look of them, but since there are so few in the US, it is difficult to peg a value for them. My guess is that being British, they probably have depreciation rates similar to Jaguar, but hopefully not! If yours is a clean example, I'd personally hang on to it, but that is up to you. Hey, it's a whole lot better than not getting paid!! Davy
  24. This is true: we don't rely on it or even use it. I personally hate it, but I'm learning to ignore it. John, to answer your question: someone obviously likes you. Davy
