  1. If you want to do it...do it. Its a neat project. I have considered it as well but finding a clean original dash will be a PITA . You can always build an aluminum dash! BTW...I have Fairlady emblems on my car. Why...because I like them:mrgreen:..... and its my hyrbidz! Rough crowd!
  2. This is a temporary for a Wildwood setup. I understand your points about electricaly operated systems and the idea that hydraulics can and will leak. Mine is a mechanical setup and I will NOT rely on the system as a fail safe method to park the car. 1st gear will be used as well and block if necessary. To your point on pumping up pressure and then activating the lock....thats exactly my concern. If Im braking hard prior to a corner with pressure in the line and the "knob" is depressed ....will it automaticaly lock the wheels and hold them? Or will it unlock when I release the brake. Thanx
  3. Well done:mrgreen:...Im afraid I cant help you but Im sure there are others that can. Come on guys any suggestions?
  4. Quick safety concern question...if one installs a line lock for use as a parking brake ...rear brakes ...and is driving on a track with a passanger. What will happen if the passanger presses down on the line lock ..accidently leans on it with an elbow..... as the driver is braking hard into a corner?? Will the brakes lock?? I have never used a line lock and am not clear as to how easy it is to activate. If so I will build a safety cover!
  5. Not at all...no idea. Thats what you need to research. Just make sure the ID of the threaded pearch is big enough to slip over the 289Z strut tubes. I believe most may be smaller.
  6. I have an idea.......help us help you. Your question is far too general , lacks informative details and is poorly composed. Slow down your typing and read your post before you click on "submit reply". If it comes across odd to you, imagine how it appears to us. Its a matter of perception. A poorly thought out incomplete question will result in incomplete or no answers at all. Which wire did you find...which Z model....which engine...any modifications...etc......? Please don't take this as a personal attack...but as constructive criticism to help you move ahead more quickly....
  7. Yup....it does seem to be getting worse but this forum is one of the best at slowing its spread.
  8. Thats why I placed the "exhaust insulator matierial on the" under side"
  9. I made one out of Aluminium and am placing a sheet of exhaust insulator matierial on the inside. Have not run it yet but it must be better than the stock shield. I threw out the old one...sorry.
  10. This may not be the best text book approach but Ive been thinking.... as long as the thread perch ID is correct and the weight of the car is "close" why couldnt one use a set like this. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Tiburon-03-04-05-Coil-Over-Lowering-Kit-up-to-4-drop_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1207Q7c39Q3a1Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem280270731344QQitemZ280270731344 A while back I bought a set like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/90-93-HONDA-ACCORD-COIL-OVER-COILOVER-SPRINGS-BLUE-92_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1207Q7c39Q3a1Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem200257750453QQitemZ200257750453 for my 240SX just for the perches and discovered the quality to be surprisingly good. If you spend some time searching ....2.5" springs can be found quite inexpensivly....it just a matter of finding the right length and spring rate and Im know the choices are readily available. Havent tried this myself but Im sure something could be put together for a reasonable price....much less than available kits. A thought to ponder and research......???
  11. I baby sit a sales team..........anyone need PVD coating?? Jerry Barvinek Sales Director IonBond, LLC 1823 East Whitcomb Madison Heights, MI, 48071 www.ionbond.com
  12. How would you check if a valve is sticking when its under spring compression in the head?......did you take the head apart? Did you at least remove the valve cover? How would this "gunk" make it through your carbs without plugging up everything in the fuel system and stalling the engine.?? It sounds like you are trying to run old engines without ever opening them up or doing any sort of inspection ...... AND expecting miracles! Sorry to say this but IMO .....I suggest you use another mechanic.
  13. Ditto on both points...make sure you get the ECU and the Datalogit makes the hole thing much better! The commander is good but the screen is small and does not access all the contro......Datalogit does! Datalogit also has a great forum that helps you sort out the learning curve.
  14. I know, this is true...Im just saying your not lowered much....even if your exhaust hung lower I doubt you would have problems. Your ride height is very stockish.
  15. Thanx for wasting 2 minutes and 12 seconds of my life...NOT!! WTF was that about...........
  16. Why are you capitilizing the first letter of every word?
  17. LOL...Im not stupid just slow. I was on my company VPN and we blocked out vids.....I see now,,,says the blind man.
  18. Unless you want rust and crap entering your fuel pump.....place the filter before...not after.
  19. Use the EZ bolt extractors. Its like a tap but the thread is tapered and reversed. You drill a hole in the center of the sheared bold and as you work the extractor into the hole it will spin out the broken bolt. Make sure you spray lots of penetrant first. I once broke a bolt extractor in a sheared bolt..... Now thats a problem!!!!!! http://www.brandsplace.com/tool-hand-tools-screw-and-bolt-extractors.html
  20. I would think the only difference is the ratio.....?
  21. Well today I got my reaction disc from Matt Thank you very much!!!! How embarassing...after taking as many old Zs apart as I have...I can honestly say I have never seen one of these before. I always though the reaction disc was that seal ring! It looks like a round piece of silicone! Thats it! I always had a long peddle stroke...learned to live with it and played many days at the track out braking most others. So we continue to learn. Makes me wonder....how difficult could it be to remanufacture these. Small flat disc made of silicone. I will have to look into it! Wonder how it got its name? Do I just glue it onto the piston? Again...thanx greatly Mat!!!!! You represent the forum well!!!
  22. Im interested in the head!.....and anything else you want to get rid of.
