  1. Arrgh! yet again something goes wrong. I am swapping the auto from my 82 turbo to a 5 speed from an 82 non-turbo. The driveshafts are different. The turbo driveshaft is bigger, accomadates a bigger output shaft, and has a large flange with large bolts. This driveshaft will not fit my 5 speed. The non-turbo 5 speed driveshaft will not fit the differential flange (flange and bolts too big). Do I have to make a custom driveshaft? Or can I swap the u-joint myself? Or can I swap the differential flange out? Or have the turbo flange holes filled and redrilled to accomadate the smaller non-turbo drive shaft? Help me please! Mario
  2. My zxt 5 speed swap has grinded to a halt because of my stupid exhaust! All 3 bolts at the flange by the DP are broken, the flange is hanging on, but the pipe won't budge! Then the catalystic converter is also welded on (at the flanges), so even if I was able to pry off the pipe from the DP, it still would not be able to come off! I am so close to just taking the sawzall and cutting it right off..... I wouldn't mind running with just the DP for a while.... don't know bout the cops though. Sorry, had to vent! Mario
  3. How old is the computer?? I believe some old compaqs cannot support a very large HD. Hope that isn't the case for you, Mario
  4. For the first time a local parts store had a needed part! They sell hard brake lines pre-flared (6ft for $5). Its done! Just need to bolt on the pedals and swap the tranny and thats it, but of course it has started raining If I'm lucky I'll be done by Monday, I can't wait! Mario
  5. The only one in a juck yard that was in decent shape ended up being crushed by the engine due to front end damage.
  6. Does anyone know how to make one? Hardline? Maybe out of copper? Braided steel($$$)? FI hose?? There aren't any fabricators in my area (that I have heard or know of), and only one parts store says there is a shop in Phx that does it. But that is 2 hrs away, on the highway, and I don't think the tranny would like downshifting and upshifting without a clutch.... That is the most difficult part left, I am almost done swapping the peddles, and swapping the tranny isn't hard. BTW I'm 18 today Mario
  7. I couldn't get mine off from a JY tranny. Not even at a shop with a BIG torch. It was grinded flat, then drilled and tapped for a 1/2" plug (smaller then stock). I just need to take off the front cover and clean it, and it will be fine. Mario
  8. I think the temp probe itself is quite pricey. Plus, it isn't as automotive and "cool" looking as a real one IMHO Mario
  9. First and second gen people around me usually wave. z31 to z33s rarely acknowledge my existance in my ZX, most z31 and z32s are so loud you couldn't possibly be able to talk to the driver. Mario
  10. I have heard of people saying that chrysler vans are great for putting everything in reach and overall comfort, but their drivetrain is severely lacking. The only US built car we haven't had problems with is my mom's subaru legacy built in Ohio I beleive. Mario
  11. 82 bodies are only slightly different. Other differences are rear brakes, engine, bumpers, and a few others probably. Mario
  12. I don't get your post. So did you figure it out? What sucks about 240sx tps's is that most (if not all) are riveted together. You should be able to adjust it to specs in the manual either with a feeler gauge or the rpm cut off point just like you would the factory one. Mario
  13. There are two plugs on the 240sx tps. One if for the switch type (which you want on stock electronics) and the other is the pot type. It should adjust the same as the stock one. I think you use the plugs on the case, not the ones on the pigtail. You only need to use a pair of pins. It is the ones with continuity when the throttle is closed. Mario
  14. I think they both have the switch and pot type. Mario
  15. I think Tony D stated that it might start on the factory tune. (Not too sure on this) Moby's sticky gives you something a lot more driveable. If you are just going to a tuner, I bet that will get you there. Mario
  16. Hmm.... I did get two part numbers as well, but they seem the same: A/T M/T Case looks the same, but they are for different models. I doubt it matters though because you calibrate MS to work with either. Mario
  17. Doesn't that suck? You spend your valuable time finishing your project (or part of it) and when its finally done, the weather decides not to cooperate? Oh crap, I shouldn't of said that, now I gonna get a rogue snow storm... Screw the pics, drive it hard when you first get a chance! Mario
  18. Looks awesome! I have a feeling those reverse light are gonna blind people Mario
  19. If its a non turbo, then yes, you can just put fuel only ms. If its a turbo, you have to have something else control timing. I think that there is a way for MS to control coil packs, but I can't remember it exactly. Try asking at msefi.com, or searching on google. Mario
  20. I should put mine up and call him a lier. j/k Mario
  21. Yes, but I thought they ( the old speedos) weren't very accurate. Plus the needle and the number font would match perfectly. Maybe one of the Canadian, Australian, or European guys can post a pic. Plus, now that I think about it, they might go to 200. Mario
  22. Have you tried a km/h speedo? Just paint over the km/h part and have a tranny shop recalibrate it to match up with mph. I am pretty sure that someone here or on zc.c has done it, and I think it goes to about 160 as well. Just a thought, Mario
  23. I run 87 all the time (oh no blasphemy!). But I am also at 7000ft. I think he could easy get away with 87 if it is bone stock. Mario
  24. I think that for the L series, BHJ gives you the choice between single pulley and accessories IIRC. Sorry, don't know about the RB, but I think it is different. Mario
  25. Wow. This takes "ricing out" to a whole new level.... Mario
