It has edelbrock 60739 heads,1406 carb, performer 2101 manifold for reference. Question 2. I have a problem with my car it cranks but it doesn’t start. it has new ngk spark plugs (got them at Amazon) it was backfiring and saw some smoke coming out by the headers so I changed the valves covers and headers gaskets, new battery, the fuel pump is a red Holley and it sounds that it’s working (as it’s very loud) I cleaned the fuel hos

  4. Hello Im Will and this is my 75 280Z the day I recived it as a birthday gift from my dad the the original owner. And this is my dad the day he bought the car in 1975. In 1990 my dad made the choice to do a sbc swap in to his z and this was the result A nice but low cost swap that has stood up to the test of time . Over the years the car has had many different carb setups but this was the state of the motor when I got the Z. And its a bit tired and needs some new life breathed in to it , and thats just what i am going to do . Please feel free to offer helpful ti
  5. Hey guys was curious if anyone has a BBC write up. Picking up a L78 6.5L 396 BBC for my 78 208Z 2+2. Car had a SBC in it over the summer and i wasnt impressed. Stumbled across the 396 for a good price. Was wondering if anyone has done this swap or a similar one. Curious about fitment and clearance.
  6. First and foremost, I would like to apologize to everyone with those super sweet z cars that opted not to molest them. This will make you cringe. Some of you will probably love this build more than you should. I have been a SUPER long time lurker here, as I have been tooling on this car for the better part of 7 years, 4-5 hours at a time, 3 months at a time. One thing of note, is that I stayed on a very slim budget for the most part, cheap as possible, expensive as necessary. I did have some non-negotiable goals, one of which was taking a lot of inspiration from the Shelby Daytona car...
  7. Hello all. I'm starting this thread not only to document for myself but to ask questions to those who have already been down a road very similar to mine. Not new to the car scene, have had a couple of project cars thus far. Bought this VW Corrado completely stock minus exhaust and steering wheel. Turned into a shaved bay, stage 5, 4 year project while I was still in school. The reason It took so long was because I was a part of the FSAE team at Akron and that took up the majority of my time. Ended up selling the Corrado to a younger guy that wrecked it. SO...
  8. Back in action! Came across this threw a friend of mine. 1974 260Z (11/74). Got it for a great price. Sat in a garage for about 3 years. Was drug out of a barn by my good friend about 8 years ago. He then swaped in the motor/ trans and ended up selling it before it drove, to the guy i got it from. He then carried on a decent swap. The car has a very nice COMPLETE aftermarket harness. Has very little rust. All of it is exterior. Flairs and fenders could fix it all . Original paint (and pin striping?). Has Eibach springs with Tokico adjustable struts all the way around. Larger Gen 1 Y

  11. Hi guys. I just picked up a rebuilt 1997 mark vi vortec 454 .030. The engine was done to stock specs. The guy I got it from started a project and abandoned it so I got the complete long block for a great price. Everything was rebuilt/replaced on the engine. These run about 9:1 stock compression and I'm assuming that it's going to be right around there give or take .3. I have a question. I'm going to be upgrading the cam before I get further into the project. What is the largest cam that the vortec heads can handle without machining the valve guides for seal to retainer clearance?
  12. Hello, I have a question for anyone who is running the stock or stock like aluminum 3 core radiators with their SBC's. What radiator hoses are you using? I bought two of the "universal" hoses from o'reilly's and my total was over $50. Just wondering if anyone could pull the numbers of their hose so I can see if I can find a cheaper option. I haven't put the engine in the car yet, so there is still time to return the hoses if other options are available. Thanks, Han
  13. Hey guys. I'm brand new here and need some info. Not new to car forums so I know all about the search function. I was just wondering if anyone could either send me some info on sbc mounts. I would like to build my own seeing as there doesnt look to be a whole lot to them. I have found people saying they've done so, just wondering if anyone has been nice enough to publish dimensions, or if I will have to try to make them by trial and error, make a mess and end up ordering them. thanks folks
