Virginia guys, keep your eyes peeled. Listening to Paul Harvey today, he said that Virginia just took delivery of 7 Camaro's with a Corvette engine swap. He said they go 0-100 in 13 seconds, not too shabby. Should make for a fun cop car.

This is due in part to the repeated cases of superbikes out running police cars on the interstates (Supposedly)... I would have spent the money on a few Bell Ranger helicopters instead of the cars... My ZX9R does closer to 140MPH in under 11 seconds...

Not that I condone running the Po Po! :D

Man, that'll just make some people build their cars stronger so they'll out run these cops. But a smart person wouldn't even try to out run a cop...I don't believe you can ever out run a cop here (U.S.). Only in Japan have I seen in done successfully. But like Mikelly said, they should've gotten heilcopers...you can never out run them. Hey, you can still dream about out running a cop, right? 0-100 in 13seconds...come on...some of you guys can beat that! :D:D

My brother outran a helicopter on a Ninja 600. He came screaming around the corner to our house, caught air into the 30 foot long driveway, and yelled at me "OPENTHEGATE OPENTHEGATE OPENTHEGATE!!!" as he slid into it with both wheels locked. I opened the gate and he drove in, ripped his helmet off and threw a tarp over the bike and ran under the awning. About 3 seconds later a helicopter flew over the house...

My brother is a dumb@$$.

And choppers can be out-run with the right vehicle.

What, West Coast or Sikorsky?

I think, if you are selling drugs at the park and do a hit and run in a schoolzone, you will not be outrunning the cops. If you are doing 45 in a 35 your chances of ditching the cops are much better. Most of the times they have to consider the risks of a highspeed chase and give up before somebody gets hurt.

I thought the Camaros already have a Corvette engine...the LS1. or are we talking the Corvette Z06 engine?

I-5 and 505 would be great roads to lose a chopper... or police.

I rarely see any police out there... and the cops usually only really like to bother with the trucks because those are the big money tickets....

But.. Running from the police is extremely stupid... no matter how you look at it. :-)

Glad to know that the police will now be able to drive a little faster in the emergency lane during rush-hour traffic...

Does anyone remember the vette featured in C&D/R&T (can't remember) about 10 years ago that was set up to be extra stealthy? It had a radar jammer that sent out whatever speed you'd desire to dial in, a box for monitoring police band that also tells you when their radio transmissions were within 3 miles, of course radar detection, a radar gun mounted rearwards, and controls for re-configuring the tail lights. I know cops are using different stuff these days, but at the time this vette was pretty impressive.

Soposedly here in my county in Ga (bulloch) for you Ga boys the police are not to pursue any vehicle that is traveling faster than 150mph. Dont know if its true but i dont want to find out. My dad would kill me. He works for te sheriffs office here :D

From what I recall with the radar gun he'd know how fast cars are approaching from the rear, on the freeway he'd know if someone was coming up fast (i.e. a cop). The tail lights could be changed to alter the way the car looked at night at a distance from the rear, it could go from two bright tail lights to four dim ones, and a couple other combos (including no tailights) so that if you were far enough back and this guy ducked behind traffic, once you catch up the lights wouldn't match to what you saw earlier. That's what I remember of the reasoning this guy had.
