Hi, I want to know if anyone has tried drilling rear axels to a five lug at home yourself and if it's as easy as it looks. Also, where did you purchase your new wheel studs?

While I'm here I want to ask a simple wheel and tire question, Will a 225 tire fit a 8 inch rim properly? Look good, perform good, etc. The tire will be a 225/45/17. Thanks

I would run atleats a 245mm tire. A 255 would also work.

I redrilled my stub axles. You need a hub centric rotor hat. I used the one that came with the kit. Use one wheel stud and knock the rest out. I used a transfer punch to mark the holes. You will also need drill them in a drill press. If you aren't sure if you can do it Ross does them for around $100.

I drilled mine myself and would NOT recommend it unless you have a LARGE drill press available. I just did another set of front hubs last night, which is cake, since the holes are existing, but the rears can really be tricky, and it is easy to hose them up.

Actually, for ultimate handling, 8" is better than 7" fot a 225/50 tire.

The wider the rim the more stable the tread in cornering - but make sure you stay within the tire manufacturer's guidelines.

Michelin recs 7-8.5" rims, so 8.5 would be best for handling, at the expense of ride....
