loy
gas leak anywhere?
veritech-z
Until recently I had SU's on my 77, but that's just because the crappy fuel injection wouldn't inject anything but frustration into my driving experience...
roninjiro
yes on the zx. simply put i HATE fuel injection on these cars. out of the four z's ive owned either the wiring was bad or the actual hardware is bad. btw i used to run megasquirt 2.2, it was nice but there is something about su's that i like more. no leaks anywhere
veritech-z
For my SUs, that special something was hard starts and gas fumes all the time...

b__sosick
Sometimes I find myself seriously considering selling my turbo motor, and going 3.1/triple mikunis........ high compression pistons and lots of race gas. it would be so fun to just have all that power right there and not have to wait till 3500 to get it...... SteelToad
Here's what you do: Disconnect your fuel intake from your gas tank and run a hose from the intake to a 5 gallon can of Deisel that you hide in the back of the car. It should only take one more siphoning for the problem to take care of itself.

80LS1T
I like the diesel idea! Or maybe some water! If the thieves are smart though they will smell the diesel Myth Busters did the sugar in a gas tank and they showed that the sugar is too heavy and actually doesn't do anything but sit at the bottom of the tank.... mark
Go buy a 5 gallon lawn mower gas jug. Fill it up with a gallon of gas and 4 gallons of water. Leave it out kind of near you car. The next morning look for the neighbor that has the tow truck in the drive way. THis does work!!

Guy At the last shop I worked at, we had an Explorer come in that was keyed from front to back, and wouldn't start. Open the gas lid, and viola, you could see the sugar all over the place. Our senior tech flushed out the tank, lines, and injectors (he may have replaced them...it's been a while) and it started right up.

sweetleaf
Myth busters sux.. I know sugar can destroy a fuel system. I have had to replace more than one complete fuel system for customers. One on a brand new Z3..
zero
To be fair, I think they were using a carbed engine for that test. I imagine it wouldnt have to strong of an effect on a carburetor as compared with fuel injection.
