I used Clevite 77 tri metals.

I know its a chunk of change, but if you're planning on boosting that Holset a lot I'd be careful with the stock pistons. Those ringlands will be the first to go at higher boost and any detonation. I dont see any reason you couldnt make 350 though.

Are those at Orillys?

Yeah, those bearings are shot, too much dirt was in the motor. Cleanliness is next to godliness, keep that in mind. That block has some eyebrows at the top of the cylinders from what I've seen in the video, maybe not, but that's what it looked like. Eyebrow where the hone didn't touch some of the cylinder due to excess wear.

I wouldn't expect that combination to last all that long, even with new bearings. IMO, it's better to wait, save the $$$, bore, use new pistons, rebuilt head, with valve job, guides, springs right, then go together. I think you'll be much happier in the end if your tune is right.

My. $0.00000000000000000000000002 worth.

Well guys, thanks for all the coments. I am really taking them to heart. I have thought all day about why I bought the Holset turbo, and big intercooler. I want HP, So I have figured out what I HAVE to do! I am going to buy forged pistons, new main, and rod bearings.

DR. Hunt, yes there are some eyebrows at the top of the piston sleve. When I order the pistons do I get the next smallest bore size?

Where are some places to get the forged pistons. Everywhere I look up on the web has no information for a L28ET.

I have heard that the forged pistons are about $100 each. can I get them any cheaper than that?

One more thing, is it safe to drive my car untill the motor is ready to install? I've gotta keep my wife off my trail, of what I'm doing.

Actually I ordered my Ross Pistons through my machinist for $600 and change. I started to race prep the rods and now I have Pauter... Motor still at the machine shop waiting on valves. Welcome to my world $$$$$$$

Nice videos BTW...

Good Luck
