OlderThanMe
Cygnusx1!!! I love those pics!!! I knew a guy that proposed to his GF while resting on the face of el Capitan(sp?) halfway up! Of course she said yes! here is my yosemitie pic...One of my parents took this one of me when we were there. (it's a scan)
Careless
cygnusx1... what kind of equipment are you using? those pics are remarkably sharp. I like my own pics to a certain extent, but then I realize that the lense I've used is a cheap 200 dollar quantaray, and while it's fun to use, I wish they came out as sharp as your pictures, and with a more even out-of-focus area. Mine seems more crystalized and blotchy. I can't remember what that is called in photographic terms, but I'm sure you can see it. I'm looking to upgrade, but not sure which camera system to go to. I'm using a Minolta Maxxum 5 film cam right now =( I want a D80 or the new camera that comes out after the 30D. not sure where to go =/
veritech-z
Here's some D80 pictures I took when I was in Vegas in early december: Mrs. VZ at the Grand Canyon: Here's me and the Dubya formulating foreign policy at the wax museum:
cygnusx1
Careless, in Yosemite I was using a Canon 20D digital body with a really sweet Sigma 18-50 mm ($399) and a cheapo Tamron 70-300mm ($150). Of course these images are so shrunken for the web that you can't appreciate the detail. The originals are at least 10 times larger. I do post process the photos from RAW format which is as close to digital darkroom as you can get. Just an FYI. I learned a ton about photography and processing (digital) from hanging out and posting at photoblink.com. Sometimes the members can be a bit snobbish but I still admire the work of some of the best members there. If you appreciate the great art of photography, sign up at http://www.photoblink.com/ and browse the top rated photographers. It's mindblowing! piper5177
Here's one of my Z after some processing.
Guest Mike
Hey PIPER... Don't you know it's inappropriate to dangle your participles in public:biggrin: Did you process the image... or your Z?? EDIT: Nice pic, BTW... I like the orange!!
piper5177
My Z gets processed in my garage, the image was processed in Photoshop. I only tweaked the background and blurred the edges around the selection line. I did dangle that a little bit huh?
Guest Mike
PIPER... It looks as though you desaturated the BG too. Or applied a sepia filter?
piper5177
Both on the BG. I desaturated it and used a light orange filter.
zguy95135
A few quick pictures I took of the beach down near where I live shot on the D80, and in RAW instead of jpg (which I used to shoot them as jpg's, its so much nicer after post processing when you use nef). cygnusx1
zguy..once you use RAW, you never go back. I use it exclusively also. I use Phase One, Capture One to process the RAW files. It's amazing.
zguy95135
Drove down the beach this afternoon because it had finally stopped raining. Again, all shot in RAW with the D80. There's a few more on my Flickr, check them out if you want. http://www.flickr.com/photos/67988953@N00/
Guest Mike
"Again, all shot in RAW with the D80." I don't know about crazy California but if you shoot photos in the RAW in Texas you'll get busted.
