New-to-240z
I've gone to http://www.rotawheels.com and I can only find the RB's in their list of rims. I see no RB-R's . . . . my question is, are the colors that the RB's come in the exact same color that the RB-R's come in? Do they all have a polished lip? I think after going through this entire thread like 3 times, that I have found my correct setup . . 73 240Z. All stock suspension other then Tokio Blue struts and Eibach Springs. Front : 17x9 with 235's I will have a MSA Urethane Air Dam (trimmed a little of course) Read : 17x9.5 255's. I am hoping to be able to roll the @#$%^ out of the fenders and not have to cut up the fenders. But if I need to I need to. (I just don't know how to weld, and would have to pay someone to do it ;( ) They should look AMAZING from the sample pics and mounted pics I've seen so far. This is a weekend driver which I hope to take to the track sooner or later. Nothing CRAZY, but just enough to be fun
JustinOlson
Here are 17X9.5's front and rear with 245/40-17's. I don't think you are going to be able to flare the fenders to work with these wheels unless you have a pretty high ride height with stiff suspension. softopz
are your front tires in the right direction?
New-to-240z
Are you running completely stock suspension right now? Also, why did you go with 17x9.5 all around if you were only going to run 245? Just wondering... Also, which rims are those? The RBs or RB-Rs?
rudypoochris
Those are RB-R's for sure. A lot of people like 9.5" all around because they can rotate the tires. Also, more section width does not always necessarily mean more stick. I am so glad this is still going and people are enjoying these wheels. Ironically mine are sitting in a box as I have lost momentum on my own Z. Haha. =]
ModernS30
Dude, directional tires, they are backwards (I work at discount tire and that looks really strange, if I did that I would get fired)

echo006
Sorry for not posting pics of mine sooner. I just had a used 275/40-17 so I could figure out if I really wanted to run that big a tire in the rear or not. Pretty stoked about it. Only problem though is the lip got marred when on the machine. Is there a way of preventing this from happening when I have tires mounted on the other three. I'm pretty pissed with the guy at that shop right now because of it. I hope I can have some of it polished out. What do I need to be looking for in a tire shop that won't cause this to happen? Except for this happening, I love these wheels, I just want a shop that can take care of them properly and not screw them up.

ModernS30
Come in to discount tire, tell them you would like them mounted on the no touch machine, and make sure they use the fingers when the balance. On expensive/nice wheels we are required to do that. But that is a big mark even for the regular machines. I mount brand new wheels all the time and they never look like that, NEVER! What I see there is a lazy/untrained employee. he let the spoon run on the wheel, you are supposed to make sure it is flat across the duckhead and not touching the wheel. Careless people =(. I never would have known this if I hadn't got my job I have now.

echo006
I also forgot to mention, part of what caused the marring was he apparently had to flip the wheel over in order to mount the tire so that it was being clamped from the outer facing side and not the inside because it is a deep offset reverse style wheel. I know nothing about mounting tires so can anyone tell me if this is true or was I getting the royal treatment on screwing up my new wheel. echo006
It doesn't really matter. Have you not told them they need to pay for a repair or a new wheel? I called them this morning and they said to bring the wheel by tomorrow so his specialist can look at it. Works out for my schedule because I have to work all this afternoon. They haven't said they are going to do the repair yet. Right now they just want to make sure I'm not screwing them with a curb check because I didn't notice it right away at the shop. There are also some marks on the inside surface of the back side where he tried to clamp it using the back of the blocks. They have a surface like that of a meat tenderizer. that can be touched up though and I wouldn't even be so upset except that its on the facing surface and not the back side. So what your saying is it can be installed on the machine with the front facing up like a normal wheel, that it does not have to be flipped over. Right? echo006
NOTSUREWHATOUTPUT, I looked on google and the nearest Discount Tire is way over 50 miles away from where I am. Anybody have any recommendations as to a good reputable company to trust with my wheels and tires needs? I apologize if I am hijacking this thread. It seems on topic. I would tell them the specification of the tire and be frank with them that you don't want your wheels to be screwed up, see what they say. When I was having the prototypes fitted with used tires all the shops seemed to be struggling pretty hard, if they were new wheels I would be afraid of them getting scuffed up. I didn't go to any specialist though and with all the low profile tires out now, I would think that they have gotten better at mounting these types of tires. Ok, so these wheels are reverse mount, no big deal, unless the wheel was spinning in the clams (that's what it did) then it shouldn't scratch it, and if we put expensive wheels, such as these, on the regular machines we tape the clams (duct tape) as to avoid scratching them, I remember doing that with a porch. There is no reason what so ever your wheel should look like that. Sorry Discount doesn't have a store near you. I do believe we have the no touch at all locations but cannot guaranty anything. I hope you get your situation worked out. Take your business else ware if they cannot keep your wheels good looking. I know how the wheel spun if you would like to know that too. When mounting low profiles sometimes they wont go over the rim easily (being a reverse mount it would be easier) the guy basically put the first bead on and went to put the other side on and it was to stiff to go over easily and it got locked up on the duck head, and the clamps probably turn and the rim held stationary. If he would have used a spoon to push part of the tire down while holding the other side with his hand under the duck head the tire should have went on nice and smooth. Also he might not have used enough lube.
