hughdogz
I remember that one! Wasn't there a vid that showed the engine was still running? I'm 72.4% sure it's the real deal. I wish there was a way to snopes.com a photo...
pparaska
Took a bit of googling, but here ya go: http://cms.firehouse.com/content/article/article.jsp?sectionId=45&id=32289
Tony D
I sold my 76 Celica GT to a stupid kid who ended up running it up a guy wire to a telephone pole...somewhere I have a photo of it hanging by the left front wheel/suspension member. They were 'doing curves' (what they called Togue in Japan at the time, today they call it 'Drifting') and went off, snagging the wire. After that, he suck to 'drag racing'... That car got him discharged from the USAF. (It was evil, trust me!) Oh, sounds like this guy did the same thing! Except the Celica was still on the guide wire, not on the actual wires from pole-to-pole.
woldson
Luckly there were three vendors on those poles, I highly dought any less would of held at inpact. Looks like he snaped the guild wire he rode up to get there. Surprised he did not snap the pole at communication level do to snap back from broken guild wire. He is so lucky he did not bring power down on him.

Gollum
I'm surprised that engine ran even an hour in that position.

woldson
After all these years I never wanted to ask 30 vets. The wire supports the lateral tension of the line. So what a "guy" in this situation? I know how crusty old line men have there slang. I'll have to look this up.
