RB26powered74zcar
I offered a member here, looking for a 280zx turbo manifold, a free manifold I had saved up in my spare parts, but after taking it to the UPS store, already packaged, got quotes of $153.33 via USPS, and $284.00 via UPS. I know that folks that have business accounts and ship alot, get great rates. Can someone please help me, help the guy in Australia by getting him the cheapest possible shipping cost. I will do the leg work, if someone can send me a shipping label to print out, I will get him to paypal you the cash.... Please PM me if you can help us out. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=132987 thanks - joel

RB26powered74zcar
there's no way it should be that much, Joel can you give me the dims and weight of the box? The box is 24x12x6 and I didn't watch what the weight was... I'm guessing maybe 25lbs?? Anyone know what a stock turbo exh manifold weighs? Its going to Austrailia QLD Rockhampton 4701 xx Main St Park Ave. North Rockhampton
Guest 280ZForce
stock manifold weighs approx. 17.6 lbs.. if you use the usps.com online quote, then say for 19 lb box (doesn't ask for dims internationally), USPS priority mail is cheapest. Around $85-$90, which is still ridiculous
col
Thanks guys I really appreciate all the trouble you are going to just to help me. Thanks Col
hoov100
usps and DHL are probably going to be the cheapest for international shipping.
Boy from Oz
Hate to say it but that's about the going rate. Last year my race brakes from Arizona Z cost me $375 for freight and a short-shifter I recently got for $20 off eBay cost $30 freight. From my experience USPS has stopped providing a shipping service and everything is airfreight. The price of aviation fuel is probably the main argument for the rates. johnc
Shipping costs have risen a lot over the past year. A 30 lb. box to NSW is $140 via USPS Priority mail, I just sent one earlier this week. A 65 lb. box to Perth is over $400. There's a lot of fuel being burned going to the other end of the world.
Nizm0Zed
lol, watch that other end of the world quip, or i'll sic a kangaroo on ya!! yea, postage sux, and you guys seem to have all the best bits. maybe it'll get to a point where we collectively (Aus and NZ) hire half a shipping container and freight in bulk once a year???? johnc
I never said which end... Around this time of year Frank280ZX flys in from the Netherlands and, with the help of Tony D, loads up on S30 and S130 parts (sometimes complete cars) and ships a container or two back home. With the West Coast Z Nationals next weekend its a perfect time to scrounge parts and cars.
240hoke
I send everything international via USPS priority insured, works better especially due to customs, and its usually way cheaper....but still very expensive.
col
Thanks Guys. If there was a cheaper way we would probably have been told by now ,So it looks like the USPS at $153.33 Is the best I can do.
240swapped
in a load of parts i picked up in a bulk buy locally there was an unopened, unused p90 head. it sold to a guy in austrailia. USPS was the cheapest by 80 bucks! he recieved the head in 6 days too, so there's obviously no customs hangups with USPS. just saying..... 260DET
No Customs duty on shipments under A$1000 into Oz, no other taxes either. Except the 'long distance' tax
stony
Dont due USPS. I sent some stuff a while back and it took over 6 weeks to get there.
col
I also have a MX5 and there is a guy over there that makes special rims. I got mine delivered fine ,no extra charges. Some guys got hit with import tax. It was really an incorrect charge as the price only went over the $1000.00 if you included freight. They ended up paying because if they didn't they would not have got the wheels. Not that that has any bearing on this situation. Does anyone know why we can't use shipping by sea any more? It used to be available , but no more, just don't know why. Thanks Col
240hoke
usps priority takes 5-10 days. You prolly sent it on the slow boat, but i didnt think you could do that any more. I have had good luck and I have sent a good many things recently.

col
Thanks for the help guys. Can't thank Joel enough. We arranged to send it by mail. I'm sure a container of z gear would sell well over here and that is the cheapest freight, But do you know how much stuff fits in a container ,HEAPS. I think it would take years to get enough of the small stuff to fill it. Anyway the deal is now done,so Thanks again guys. Col
