Administrators BRAAP Posted November 6, 2008 Administrators Share Posted November 6, 2008 Something doesn’t add up here! 2009 GTR RED - $20000 (vancity) Reply to: sale-905086959@craigslist.org [?] Date: 2008-11-03' date=' 11:22PM PST Selling my 2009 GTR in Red. There is however a problem with the transmission as you can see it reflects the price. If you know how to fix this is an amazing deal. Warranty is void from launching. E-mail me your number and we can meet. 0. Location: vancity 0. it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests PostingID: 905086959 [/quote'] Is that US dollars or Canadian? Regardless, something doesn't smell right here... GT-R's list new for roughly $80,000+, people have paid $90,000+ for these cars. The known transmission failure is $20,000 replacement. Even if labor cost $20,000, ($10,000 sounds more reasonable), lets say you spend $20k for car, +$20k for trans, +$20k for labor, worst case you're a GT-R owner for only $60,000?!?!? Install it yourself and you're a GT-R owner for only $40,000!!! Either I'm missing something or this poor guy really struggled with Math in shcool. Tombarace14
This sounds like the 2008 Audi S5 I was looking at buying for 22K. If its way to good to be true, it probly not.

RedEvilrps13
OH THAT ONE!! No that car isn't a joke, it's been all over the internet. He blew up his transmission while ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around with the car, he kept launching the car and doing burnouts and Nissan refused to cover it under warranty due to customer abuse. HAHAHAHAHAHA what a tool
Challenger
Well I think a number of owners did the same thing. I still dont think its real. Although its funny.

260DET
Might add that several R35's have been used in motorsport in AU for quite a while now and none have busted a transmission. This includes cars which have used the dreaded launch control many times. But to make the haters happy one did bust an engine recently
blue72
In all of the GTR forum trolling that I have done, I have only seen one confirmed transmission failure with pictures. The only other one that comes close is the guy from Florida mentioned earlier in this thread who launched his GTR too many times with the VDC off. That's it, everything else that I have seen has been hearsay and speculation. I'd be willing to bet that this ad is just a joke, or a scam. jtl260z
$20000.00 is a good deal if it's true. The 09' GTR's are know for transmission failure from launching. When purchasing a GTR the paperwork you have to sign off on warns you of the potential failure and that it is not covered under warranty. BTW the tranny costs around $15000 + labor.
