dr_hunt
I got woken up by my dog buddy at 4AM. He was raising hell, so I went to the front door to see what was going on, only to meet a guy standing inside the hall by the front door. He pulled what looked like a 9mm semi auto and pointed it in my face and said "what's up holmes, watch out I'll bust a cap in your ass". I had my little .22 rifle, he fled out the door and was picked up by a 80's model ford escort, white, in the street. I took a shot at him but with the crappy scope on that .22 I think I missed him in the dark as where he was there are alot of trees so no moonlight and no streetlights. I've seen the guy before and the car in town. I was suprised he didn't shoot me as we were face to face at arms length. I told him "I know you" as I have seen him before in town, the cops are going to pick him up here in awhile and if I id him he's gone. He' s a tweaker and been tweaking bad lately. Mayolives
dr hunt, What a rush. I'm glad you are ok and I'm disappointed that you weren't able to give him the just reward he deserved. Too many bad guys are running the streets.

Evan Purple240zt
Jesus christ, I am also glad his stupid ass didn't shoot your dog. So he was in your house? or on your front porch? Rude awakening indeed. Glad to hear you didn't get hurt. Evan

motoman
Good old new mexico. There is always stuff like this goin on around here. I'm starting to get tired of it. I still like NM. Glad to hear it didn't go any farther then that. Why do you think he was at you house?

johnc
Glad you didn't get shot and sorry you didn't get to bust a cap into his smart mouth. Give Buddy a big T-Bone for me.

[cynicism]For the afternoon? 30 days? Sounds like B&E but he didn't take anything. At least anywhere that I've lived you can't count on that kind of crime to keep a guy off the streets for any length of time. He'll probably plea it down to jaywalking, pay his $5 and walk out of jail in time to get some lunch.[/cynicism] Glad you made it out of that situation, that is a scary one. With your considerable arsenal, I would suggest you pick a larger weapon to carry while you go investigate the dog barking at 4AM next time. ShaggyZ
It's time you write me into your will. I'm glad you're okay, though, so you can still write me into your will.
thrustnut
I would say screw the bigger gun, get a home security system and let the cops show up with guns. Nothing (other then my family) in my house is worth a shoot out...though I do keep a 12 guage under the bed "just in case".
janaka
I honestly was waiting for a punchline in hopes that was a joke. Un-freaking-real. Glad you are ok to say the very least.

Now how to pass the time between calling the cops and them showing up while the armed intruder is in the house? I suggest Yahtzee. There is something satisfying about the dice rolling around in the cup. It really takes the edge off when you're worried about the armed intruder coming down the hallway... Guest Rolling Parts
There's a plan. Now how to pass the time between calling the cops and them showing up while the armed intruder is in the house? I suggest Yahtzee... Around here most home alarms are "false alarms" (due to weather, idiot owners, pets, etc) so the local cops put it on the lowest priority and respond only if there is an associated call. Even 911 operators ask dumb stuff that wastes your time before sending anyone out to check. Armed intruders only fear armed residents. thrustnut
I pay for my system to be "immediate" and I also pay for false alarms. If my alarm goes off and the cops aren't here ASAP, I'm gonna call my alarm company and have someone's a$$. I would rather have the cops show up pointing guns at me and make me prove I live here then them show up when they feel like it. Most of the time my wife and kids are here alone but between the dog the shotgun (which my wife is pretty good with) and the alarm, I think there pretty safe. woldson
No police bashing. Nothing better then just hearing a shot gun load a round to get someone to drop a load! Rounds don't go to far but they would hear the blast(s) and think twice!!! He did have home security, the DOG! What would have happened if that dog was not making a ruckus! Time for doggie to get a rare stake!
BillZ260
Wow, that will really change how you view your home's security! I'm glad your ok, that could have gone really badly. We had someone knock on our door about 4 or 5 months ago after midnight. When I opened the door and he didn't recognize me, he freaked out and jetted. He didn't see my pistol but I think he knew he was in the wrong place.
