Smokescreen
Fricfrac, Sounds like you feel the same as me. I don't like the slotted set-up that is offered through Motorsports. The shackles I found over on a 510 forum will be more adjustable, maintain integrity, and Will not move. These are not "heim" set-ups, they are camber/toe brackets for trailing arm suspension set up. They sell for $320 a set but you will have to do some of the welding /mounting work to fit them to your Zx. If your interested in them PM me and Ill get you more info on them. frank280zx
I use em... but hounestly i havent swapped them in after my sectioned konis and coilovers.. so i have no clue if they work.. and frankly they are cheap and tend to 'bind' in my book due to sitting at angle with the car low.. If you want ajustabillity, you will have to fab something. Hence they are not used in my track car

BleachZee
Techno Toy Tuning has had these adjustable tension rods for about a year and a half now. I bought the first set in 2008 and have them on my car. http://www.technotoytuning.com/productdetail.php?p=
260DET
The MSA ones look to be more versatile to me, actually I made some like that for the S30 back in the day.
Smokescreen
I like the Adjustable tension rod from Techno-toy, But, I'll be getting those later , after I work out my rear end set up. Still workin of cash flow to get the brackets for the rear control arms to adjust Camber/Toe issues with the lowered car. I am thinking that with front and rear strut tower braces as well as thicker sway bars the car will ride like a concrete truck on the street but handle like a demon on the track/ autox course. thats the goal. (Though I am getting tired of chronic back pain on long drives, plus all the bumps make me spill my beer...)
PurePontiacKid
if you plan on going much lower than lowering springs, I don't reccomend you get the TechnoToy rods...
Smokescreen
I definitely have no desire to go lower than the Tokico kit has me right now, which is around 1 inch lower than stock. I think any lower would be impractical where I live and drive, I have already had some conflict with what I assumed to be small road debris.( Had to fix rear E brake brackets when I thought I could straddle a small rock on the hwy, lol.) I am curious as to why lower would be bad as far as the adjustable tension rod is concerned? Thanks Jason
PurePontiacKid
it appears that they are better than stock, according to this thread (http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=114236&highlight=Tension+Rod+Heim), I must've been tired when I read another thread the first time lol

PurePontiacKid
Tokico doesn't make Illumina's for the rear of our cars anymore also, I think they might sell a type of shock for S13 240SX's, and those should work on our cars
ArchetypeDatsun
Hmmm that interesting because my 83 turbo has hks rear suspension and I think those are from a S13 but does not have the plates that hold em in place for the solid feel all it did was bounce up and down
ArchetypeDatsun
Hey guys I saw this suspension for sale for $900 bucks 79-83 280zx it's a D2 Racing Coilover Includes Front and Rear Camber Plates 36 Way Adjustable Shock & Height Adjustable think it's worth it??? The RS coilover system is a 36 way dampner and rebound adjustable monotube full coilover system. The setup has seperate height and preload adjustments allowing for optimal adjustment and allowing full strut travel at all times along with pillowball upper mounts or top mounts*. Mounts are constructed of 6061 powder coated aluminum. Threads are teflon coated to prevent rust. Rebuildable and serviceable in the US.
