robmurt90
Thanks everyone for the comments. Body work is now completely finished. Got all the lines as best we could, fixed any minor imperfections in the metal, have it primed & ready for some paint. Will be starting to weld in the roll cage tomorrow, should be in the booth by the end of the week if all goes as planned!
robmurt90
Finally getting progress, roll cage is in. Used the door bars for the hatch because the ones they supplied are for if you got it all tubbed it all that fun stuff. And the hatch bars are a lot shorter so a lot better for street comfort! Should be starting to get it in the booth this week. Hopefully....

fhptom
Your first post shows a June date. Did you really get all of this done in 2 months. It looks great. Hopefully no one will chime in a say that you ruined a perfectly good Japanese sports car by putting on racing stripes like they did when I did mine with stripes. mannac
Awesome build! I'm looking at doing something similar. I know for sure that I want the same rear quarters but I'm torn on what I want to do with the front. I don't like the g-noses or the ugly kits I've seen offered. Your air dam design still isn't quite what I want but it looks pretty good! I can't wait to see this finished.

Tom Yup, this is the easy part, the next part of buying wheels, tires, driveshaft, all that fun stuff that cost money will take a while haha. And I think i ruined the japanese sports car look by dropping in american power & a widebody kit. What difference does adding stripes make at this point? Yeah, with the front you're kind of limited on what you want to do with an air dam unless you wanna build something custom. You could also go with the subtle z front fenders. 1.5" wider & i "think" use the stock air dam?
robmurt90
Starting to wet sand & buff on friday.... still haven't had it out in the sun completely, hopefully the paint still looks as good. Also noticed the stripes arent perfectly centered on the hood oh well, it isn't a show car & you won't notice unless your anal like me or starring at it for a while. hopefully I'll be moving by too fast anyway to take a good gander Edited August 2, 2010 by robmurt90

It uses an air dam that seems to be modeled after the popular xenon airdam that MSA offers though.

robmurt90
Alright alright, finally getting back to work on the Z. Got it up at the other shop now so I can actually work on it more often Got new seats, black leather from a 99ish Maxima. They are tight to say the least with the rollcage and with the sliders, and took a whole days of work to get in the car. But it was totally worth it, look great, feel great, and hug a LOT better then the stockers. Working on this week to get the thing moving, gotta figure out a few electrical things to make it run, gotta get rear brakes on, gotta get fuel lines run, annddd gotta get the driveshaft cut down and get the axle shafts in. Driveshaft is out to a buddy of mines friend who used to do all of S&W's work. He is one of the best in the area and it is oh so cheap Measurements have been made to get the final tire sizes. REAR - Going to 5X4.5 Lug Pattern. 15x12 Welds 3.5" Backspacing (Might need a ~1" Spacer), 29x15 Mickey Thompson Sportsman Radial SRs FRONT - Stock 4 Lug Pattern, 15x10 Centerlines with a little bit of a stretched 225/50R15. (I just love the SLIGHT stretched look lol)

JohnH
Nice work. I have Brians Gnose installed with the extra aftermarket JDM lower chin air damn on my Z. Just a curious question - what are you going to do about fuel filling as I have noticed no fill port in the posted pictures.

Just a curious question - what are you going to do about fuel filling as I have noticed no fill port in the posted pictures. Thank you alll. And for fuel filling, I have a fuel cell where the spare tire used to go. Attached some pictures of the electric pump & it I installed. Just a small pump to help push fuel up to the mechanical 9lb pump off the engine. Also ran the fuel lines front to rear. Oh! And i got my rear rims & redrilled hubs Went with a 295/50R15 tire. I must say.... they are sexy. Got 3-1/4" studs coming & the correct lug nuts. ANDD just a idea of what the lip on this bad boy looks like....
