  1. Congrats Mike! I am looking for my next best opportunity right now, having stated a company and developing the software, then leaving and going with another company - unitl the new development was finished, when they let me go. I am very glad you found the company you are with and hope I can find something equivalent here around Atlanta! Brad
  2. Why not use the 350 pistons and go with a longer rod? You DO want good rods don't you? Grumpy - is there a reason this shouldn't be done? IJWTK...
  3. JMHO but the dizzy is the only thing that COULD cause the erratic miss, and also the erratic advance problems. I don't know what is invlved with swapping the '82-83 unit in, but definitely replace the one you have with a good one.
  4. I bought a Millermatic 175 (240V) model MIG welder then took classes at a nearby Tech scool to learn how to weld. Wanted to make sure that I wasn't limited in what I would be able to weld (within reason- 240V gives a litter more flexibilit on chassis enhancements/trailors), and put a circuit in the garage/basement for air compressor and welder (won't be using both at the same time). I am about to start on the rotisserie so that I can do the floor pans and subchassis connectors. I LIKE welding. Won't use flux core.
  5. ~50 lbs less for the ZX over the '78 280z. I have researched this thoroughly...
  6. ZX weighs less & more aerodynamic. With springs, shockds and bars will handle comparably & ride better. Turbo will steer nicely. Zx may have t-tops. Z looks better (I have both)
  7. I have an '83ZXT that has bars, Eibach and Tokico illumina struts and it rides nicely and handles well now. Of course I have a '75 project car which will get a V8, but the springs Tokico Blue and struts on it made it ride much harsher that the ZXT...
  8. I personally have always used Cibie headlights - with relays. Maximum brightness and control of beam. I have had no experience with Hella or others.

  10. I would llike to re-iterate my interest also. I don't think I would like an INTEGRATED dam, but a bolt-0n Urethane unit that would take the occasional curb hit. I never have liked all fiberglass cams since I had my Starion ESIR and my (ex) wife hit a curb/pothole with it. I want something that will flex and not destroy all the rest of the g-nose. Just something to think about.... Brad
  11. Looks GREAT Mike! Wish I had that much room to "play" in!
  12. T5's are 5 speed tranny's - no 4 speeds.
  13. Anyone have any suggestions on what to use/where to get good replacement material for the HVAC in our cars? I'm ready to replace the auto air (functioning) with the manual system in my ZXT and at the same time the wiring harness/analog dash conversion (speedo doesn't work but odometer does). I figure to do it right the first time and have no future issues..... TIA Brad
  14. The stock 280ZXT has a fan in front of the condenser, so I would imagine you should have no problem...
  15. I think almost everyone on this board who has put in relays would never go back. the headlights are always brighter, and you reduce the load through the switch, which is a major consideration. I would not use higher wattage bulbs without relays, but then again, I would have the relays put in anyway fo rthe above reason. I already have on my 280ZXT, and will on my '75 V8 project.
  16. Congratulations! Don't you just love it when everything falls in place?
  17. http://web.ctsolutions.com/zeddfind/ This is where I got mine, and Charlie is a great guy. MSA sells these as their premium Floor Pans. If you are going to do the subchassis connectors, don't bother getting the xtra bracing ($75 I think).
  18. Thanks Grumpyvette! Finally found the information stated in an article due to your link. So that no one elese need look through it all for one piece of info: For Boosted applications, H-beam rods seem to be the way to go, it appears they can be a bit lighter than I-beam and still handle the larger low-rpm compressive loads, or the same weight and handle even more. For high rpm engines, either rod works, but once again, the h-beam will be a bit lighter. Thanks again Grumpyvette! Brad
  19. '97 and up Q's had the 4.1L engine. '96 was the only year for no variable timing on the 4.5. The early engine had the most power, for they messed with the head and intake for emissions purposes later. The '90 is the only year for sodium-filled exhaust valves I believe.
  20. Thanks for the info Grumpyvette... Now for a discourse on H vs. I beam configurations. Pro's Con's, which may be better for RPM's and which may be better for big boost turbocharged cars.... This is a discussion I've been waiting for! Brad
