  1. clint78z, Frame.dwg would be great, if it is like the first or second screen shot. Preferable the first. I am a self taught cad user, but I don't have to do 3D rendering or switch files from one version to the other. Now you just need to let me know how you manage this. I use cad almost daily for work now, helping our other draftsmen out. I am still in the very early learning stages, but I can draw faster then the other guy already Mainly because I can type with more then one finger at a time. lol Which is another thing I have taught myself.
  2. I didn't get my coil overs from GC, but I do have the problem of the sleeve just spinning while I try to adjust the spring seat, which is rather annoying. I'm curious as to how big the o-ring is, Not the ID, but the OD, or just the thickness of the ring itself. I'm going to try to get one from the hardware store, but what is the size?
  3. I would love to get this file, but I have R14, which won't open a 2000 file. Can someone tell me how I can work around this? I don't want to just be able to view it. Does the Volo viewer allow editing?
  4. Talking with him last Thursday(I think?), while discussing my Z, I looked over at his and asked if I could just buy the right door off of his Z since I already had the hood off of it He told me it was about to get worked on, but I know what your saying zfan. I've known him about the same amount of time and it hasn't been touched, especially since he got his new toy.
  5. He is still interested in completing that Z from what I was told. Whether he is still going to go turbo is beyond me. I'll have to check into it though. Thanks for the tip.
  6. I use it as paint stripper. Been using the same pan for acouple years now. It slowly works down as you wipe the parts off that have been dunked. God knows if you drip some on the inside of the engine bay when filling up you will have a bare metal spot in acouple of days. I do recycle my oil, although I was told it does wonders on ant mounds.

And I've seen and heard the 350Z is even lower. All you see are heads poking up, no shoulders at all. I'm 5'10" and it's almost uncomfortable, but my seats sit about 1" higher now, so I guess I fall under the category of a seat raiser, but I wouldn't say drastically, as I couldn't slide under the steering wheel then. Only about an inch clearance now.
  8. I see, poke at the guy with the dead bodies under the Z holding wrenches. Wait, you didn't make that car show did you Phantom I may not be able to make this one. I am not sure about when my Z will be going into paint jail just yet. I may put it off for another month just for this event though. All depends on the money. We'll see...
  9. Well, my new pc at home is now giving me problems, but that doesn't mean I can't get payed for looking at the recent posts on HybridZ I haven't talked to him about the '81 anymore. Been very busy lately. I have seen it before, but didn't look as hard at it, as a potential daily driver/future project. And yes, he has purchased several Z's in the last couple months. He was starting to run out of room and had to get a storage unit. As for what I am going to do. My Z should be stripped down to the shell and suspension within the next couple of weeks and going to paint jail. I have decided on artic white w/ everything blacked out With possible gun metal, metal flake. I'm hoping it will look as good in person as it does in my mind. While that is going on I will finally be getting my head worked for the engine transplant once the Z is back from jail. Then I will be searching for all the needed parts for the turbo conversion. I have decided I won't be doing the V8 conversion on this one, but looking forward to some of the recent updates on V8 Z32
  10. If you have the room, store it as a spare. Not to much demand for the 2.6 but a good engine is a good engine when you find you blown one up in your car. I still have my original 2.6 laying in the garage and I've had 2 other motors laying around at one time. I ended up dropping (1) block, (2) 4 speeds, acouple heads and a rear end off at the scrape yard. I got about $19 for it all. What a waste. Now I'm looking for turbo parts to start collecting for the conversion. I really need to clean out my garage! BTW, an engine on a stand fits nicely in the outside closet of most apartments. Ask me how I know that. Especially since I lived upstairs.
  11. And I was so hoping to deceive you into thinking you owed me a butt load of money yesterday.
  12. Being I have went through this situation very recently, for the running lights check the hazard switch. All running lights go through there. If it is the headlights, check for any tarnishing of the connection in the switch(use scotch-brite or fine sand paper to clean connection). I would Highly recommend relays for the headlights as it has resolved any and all problems with my headlights. Pete has an excellent write-up on the relay conversion. Check his site.
  13. Well, I wouldn't say a year. More like, acouple days. Davy, I am always on this board, daily, atleast. I may never have something to say, but I am here. Reading and digesting. Just wait until My Z is done Phantom's ride is, well, what you would call, excess of power, just like you would expect any hybrid Z to be! It has all the grunt you would ever need and then some. Excellent install! Very, very clean. Looks totally factory. If I would recommend a supplier for the LS1 install(which there really isn't one, except), it would be John's car's. Everything from the needed heat shields for the relays on the pass. side, to the ecm controlled electric fans. It has everything. (yes, I know what I am talking about after Atleast 4 years of lurking, debating, wishing) As Phantom said, I have had a taste of Lone Stars ride, which I do feel at ah of(is that actually a word?), even though it was in a short spurt. The control(I'm sure, do to the modified mustache bar of the rear end to control wheel bop) of Phantoms Z is very controllable. I have lit them up before in my Z(even with the Phantom grip, no pun intended), but damn! Nothing like a straight line with the Z going not so straight, if you know what I mean. It was totally under control, which tells me that Phantom will need some more tires in the not so near future, due to some practice runs. This may come to some suprize to Phantom, but others in our Z club didn't like the idea of putting an american V8 in one of our Z cars. I say, the hell with purists. It is a 280Z, one of the most production made Z's available. Yes, we may run out of Z's one of these days, but I would hope to think that we will be remembered(and envied) as some of the fastest and most developed cars in the world! I have decided Not to do the V8 conversion(after much consideration of turbo) with my 260, but I have an '81 that I am thinking of purchasing in the not so distant future that should do nicely. I hope the current owners aren't listening. Thanks for allowing me to be one of the first rides in your new found exotic. Hope to join you on the track someday.
  14. The wood material 240hybrid is refering to is called "bender board" or bending luan". It comes in 1/4" and 3/8" in 4' x 8' or 8' x 4' sheets. It only bends one way. This stuff is quite flamable. Even a heat gun could set it off. I would think fiberglass would be easier for the housings. If you screwed up it wouldn't be nearly as hard to fix it.
  15. Very slick track. I did my share of 4 wheel drifts, almost loosing it several times, but it was oh so much fun. Nothing like the tell tale sounds of the rear tires hopping for traction. I was sorry to see you didn't make it Phantom. There weren't to many close calls, but I'm sure you would have had a good time, rain or not. It seemed the Z32's had more trouble then anything else, which I didn't think would be the case. Seeing acouple 350's slide around was a good feeling, while in the ugliest car out there. I really need to finish that body work
  16. Here you go, 72zcar. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/pparaska/Headlight_Relay_pg1.htm Pete has a very informative site.
  17. Now that Maichor mentioned it, I wonder if Gary knows about this Sunday?
  18. Basically, from what I can tell, you are refering to a snubber. A rubber stop for the diff. to push against when it rises. It would take the place of the strap over the nose of the diff. and simulate the strap, but with plate steel(w/ rubber cushion) that would be bolted to the original holders of the strap in the trans tunnel. Is this correct? If so, sounds like a "sound" idea. Sorry for the pun
  19. Sunday! Thats right! I have another day to get my Z back together. I was begining to panic
  20. Figures, for some reason I'm "not authorized" to view them, even with a copy paste. Oh well, Guess I'll have to see it this Sat. You are going right?
  21. Until inspection time comes, they probably wouldn't have a clue. Once the inspection has expired, then you might get a warning or a ticket, depending on why you got pulled over in the first place. Once the warning/ticket has been issued though you may have your vehicle towed and impounded. Might want to consider getting it past the nazis' considering the high cost of towing/impounding in your area.
  22. It will not fit with our L series engine in place. Atleast not on the back side of the radiator.
  23. I would be very interested in the CAD drawing. R14 is what I use generally. I've been trying to track down a wire gremlin lately and the Haynes can make your eyes hurt, even with a small magnifying glass. Thanks for doing such an adventure!
  24. Looks like someone finally realizing the full potiential of the GN motor. Got to love GM w/ their 3.8 GN. Do I get the prize?
  25. Trace the wires, sounds like you have a wire connecting to ground and completing the circuit.
