I have always wanted an Opel. Mainly, because of the short wheel base and the somewhat big engine bay, but this brings big engine bay to a whole other meaning. I only see ONE future for this car. Drag strip. Ok, maybe three. Drag strip, museum, and/or then 6 feet under(with driver).

Just don't forget to replace ALL of your soft lines(except vent lines) with EFI rated hoses.

tt350, With a stripped unibody, 2 people can easily put one end at a time up on each stand.

If you have AOL, your SOL. Actually, there are several people that have had troubles like yourself since they changed the sites format, most with AOL. There is actually a post somewhere on the board. I haven't followed it, since I first saw it, but someone may have cleared the problem up. Take a look with the search function. Should come up under AOL, or SOL

Looking in the rear view mirror with my head back is something I find myself doing more and more these days. Is it just in my area? As for the electric fan, I got one from therma kool, or something of that sort and it went out quick. Since going to the taurus fan, even as a pusher, I haven't had any problems with cooling my slightly rich/slightly lean SU's(all depending upon the air temp of the day), when I actually get to drive it. Will the body work ever end!

There are several plans to build a rotisserie(how ever you spell it) floating around on this site and many of the members sites. Just do a search and you should get way more then you asked for.

That looks great. Seems to be just the right size to meet all your needs. Now, after that small distraction, it's back to the Z, right?

I just have one word, LOL Is that actually a word now?

For those that have shown enough interest to this modification on their early 260Z as to email me, I have sent you a write up that I put together. I have PM'ed superdan about posting it somewhere on the site, for any one else that may need it. I am waiting for a response, but for anyone else that may need this info, email me and I'll send you the .doc

Tim, you didn't let someone blow another one up did you?

Need more advice on coilovers.

Ok, just when I thought I was done with all the suspension work on my Z you had to throw us this. I'm game -
I just did the GM alternator swap about 5 months ago in my early 260Z. Well, Actually it was an aftermarket chrome replacement for a GM, but basically the same thing. Mine was a one wire alternator, which works fine. If you want, email me personally and I can tell you what I did to eliminate the external voltage regulator and wire in the alternator, which is all a piece of cake. This all assuming you have an early 260Z, ofcourse. From my understanding, the wiring was alittle different on the late compared to the early 260Z. I have a digital camera to send pics if need be.

Are those mini street flares on the rear from MSA? I love the look of this car. What are you planning to change

Being that I have a friend who went through either Chapter 7 or Chapter 13(can't remember which one) I have some advice here. Either one will take you the same amount of time to clear off your record. One you pay off the debt and it looks alittle better then the other on your report. Debt consolidation(which I'm doing right now) is basically the same thing(as stated in above post). It shows up the same way, but the funny thing is, the company that you go to actually can't help you unless your behind on payments, just like bankruptcy. They actually will tell you to stop paying your payments until they work something out with who you owe. If you do decide to go this route, get one that is close to home. I have had problems with the one in Florida(while I'm in Texas), in which they make a settlement with the card co. and then I don't get this info until my next mayment is already sent off, which isn't the right amount now. This went on for several months. Due to the amount owed increasing with each non-sufficient payment, my monthly payment kept going up. I'm now paying almost asmuch as I was sending in the minimum. The length of time that it was suppose to take to clear the debt has now lengthened, but I WILL finally get it all payed off, which will be a great thing. Due to the fact that atleast 1/3 of my credit card debt is from my Z, I don't see any sense in me getting rid of the Z to help pay off the debt. I have seen that several times on this board and others. I have already gotten rid of the "creature comforts" around the house though. It helps out. Scott, you may want to consider renting out a room for about $100 a week. I actually had two rooms rented out at one time and was living high on the hog for awhile. I really should have considered saving some of it instead of putting it in my Z

Don't sell the Z! What kind of extra work would you like to get into. I may have some leads for you. BTW, I feel your pain. I'm now late on my daily driver payment and my Z is in no condition right now to take it's place, if the unspeakable happened. Ah yes, the choices in life sometimes. Should I make my car payment or eat the next two weeks?

Getting the bondo off metal isn't that hard. I would be more concerned of what they did to the metal underneath before they did all this work. It may be a rusty fender or they may have just cut it up to build it out to hold the new "flares". Bonding fiberglass to metal takes care and patience. If they got in a hurry, who knows what you will find. Personally I don't think it looks all that bad. With the things that have been done to it, it may have been done early in it's life. If you don't see any cracks in the bonding areas you may not have a hard time getting the rear cleaned up if you still decide to go that route. It is a unique car though. A reputable shop may have done it. Have you checked into the history of the car?

Looks like something out of a Mad Max movie. Someone did go all out on trying to make it not look like a Z though. The rear fenders would be the hardest part to remove. It would probably be easier to just replace the fenders. No telling whats underneath. Sell the hatch to Tim240Z(he may even have one to replace it) and the back end is basically done. Replace front fenders, airdam then take the hood vent and put it on another hood. Lather, rinse and paint. Looks like an interesting project as is. Personally I would just remove the little vents on the left side of the hood and get the thing painted. I think it would actually look alright with a good '70's paint scheme

Sorry to say it, but I agree. If you have AOL, your SOL. I've had dial up, DSL, ADSL, and cable. By far the cable was the best. Most DSL co. will tell you "up to" this speed is possible, which I've now used 3 different ones, but none was faster then the cable connection I had, plus running a home network, which didn't seem to effect connection speed with cable. It did slow down alittle over the weekend though. Downloading a 6MB file in 16 sec. is nothing to sneeze at. Right now I'm in the process of getting cable again, and suprisingly enough, they state "pay this much, get this much", "pay more, get more". At this time in our area one of the big cable co.(starts with a C) is having a special on combination connections. You end up paying more for the cable connection for the tv, but far less for the internet, which after doing some math, gets me a faster connection, the same channels at a $20 cheaper price compared to satelite/DSL. I called my DSL co. and told them of this and they could only bump my bill down $6 a month for the next 6 months to help me make up my mind. As said above. A big problem with DSL is they are coming in on others lines. I just had a big problem with this in which I had a phone wire short in the attic and my phone co. came out to fix it. In doing so they screwed up the wiring for the DSL, which I then had to get the DSL co. to come out and fix my connection again, after waiting for 2 weeks. But with all the problems I've had with the 3 DSL connections I can now wire the damn thing in myself. So, in closing, I have had the best support, connection and service from the cable providers. DSL is starting to be money hungry. Oh, and what ever you do, don't go satelite for internet. You still will end up with a dial up connection for your upload!

I take it Jerry has gotten some more Z's in since the last time I was over there. I may need to swing by this weekend and see what he has. I'm in search of a '78 coupe.
-
Didn't Chris's dad from the club just pick up a '77? You might try getting with him if Jerry doesn't have any complete '77's. I also think Dennis has a '77 2+2. Let me know if I can help out on this. Johnathan
