Its an 03 with all the problems. Here comes the list Power related: 2.80" pulley Apten ported blower Billetflow Stealth idler Accufab throttle body Steeda intake JBA short headers Magnaflow cat-back Diablosport Predator with a Shawn Ellis custom tune (http://www.socaldiablo.com) Driveline: Centerforce flywheel Centerforce dual-friction clutch for 26 spline input shaft (about half the pedal pressure of the stock piece and it holds much better) Liberty Gear 26 spline input shaft (A hard launch with anything close to 500RWHP should twist it to pieces) Pro 5.0 shifter and MGW handle (greatest mod ever) UPR 3 position clutch quadrant (a must if you want you throw-out bearing to last) and extreme firewall adjuster I'm trying to talk my dad into a Torsen T2-R diff, because our stock Eaton unit is a piece. Way too much free play in it Maybe some Level 2 or Level 5 half-shafts to make sure we don't break anything Suspension: Maier's Racing subframe connectors (can't get anything better) Maximum Motorsports coil-overs New bushings will probably make their way here soon Brakes: Nothing yet, because we don't track the car. I'm going to bug my dad to snag a set of Cobra R Brembos and some KVR carbon pads (hope I'm saying the right thing there) Misc: Apten head coolant mod (It allows coolant flow out of the back of the neglected head. If you're pushing power and heat levels, this is another must, otherwise you'll fry the head) I'm probably forgeting a few, but the beauty of this car is that my mom drives it to work daily

It was sooooo close. Darn thing just couldn't quite get there. For those of you that saw the car in SoCal when I was down for John's welding get together, here's the dyno sheet that I ended up with. Like I said, so close. Maybe a little more cooling off next time. At least I've talked my dad into a catted X-pipe. Hopefully, that will put us over the top for sure next time. Now if I could just figure out how to sneak this motor out and put it in my Z without anyone noticing.

Good post. I spend very little time on other forums purely for what you just said. You have to dig through so much useless information and profanity just to get to the good stuff.

Looks like they're making some progress.

Its not as hard to make that much power out of those blocks as you may think. My mom's 03 Cobra is making 500RWHP with nothing more than bolt-ons and a ported stock Eaton blower. Switching over to a T88? turbo with an X2C kit will net close to 1000HP to the rear wheels. With a heavy 03 Cobra, they were in the high 8s with a full interior if I remember correctly. Good luck trying to fit that sucker in there. The block may be light, but those heads are going to weigh as much if not more than it. Word for the wise, buy the block from SHM, then send it somewhere else. Lots of broken motors from them. Not a good idea. Superior Performance in SoCal would be your best bet.

Finished the Z06 Clutch install in the Vette... What a PITA!
Moridin replied to Mikelly's topic in Non Tech Board
I'm lucky I didn't have to do the clutch replacement on the Cobra, or at least have to do the bigger input shaft. Its nice have a clutch you know will hold, huh? -
My current cars: 1991 Honda Civic with turbo B16 1973 Datsun 240Z waiting for turbo motor and restoration Half of a 1979? Dodge Colt waiting for money to compete in rally cross My cars that have passed: 1981? BMW 320i 1979 Datsun/Nissan 280ZXT (used for turbo swap then cut up) Other cars that I work on for the family: 1996 Dodge Caravan (waiting for custom side pipes ) - Dad's 1994 Honda Civic Hatch - brother's 1989 Honda CRX getting a B16 soon - sister's 2003 Ford Mustang Cobra that just dyno'ed at 498.9 RWHP - Mom's

It was very informative and a lot of fun. Excellent information for all those interested in doing any kind of welding. The pizza was good too. For anyone that was looking into getting quality custom work on their cars (suspension, welding, etc...), I'd talk to John C. His shop is one of the cleanest I've ever seen and very well organized.

I wish, but they are the same length and marked as the same spring rate. The coils are the same size, there is just one more on one and not on the other. This can only lead me to believe that one of them isn't right. When I head down to LA tomorrow, I think I'll stop by at Maximum Motorsports to see if I can get the right springs from them. The shop is in the San Luis Opisbo area, which I was going to stop at anyway to see some friends in Cal Poly.

Any experience with BFG Radial T/As????
Moridin replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
We're going to try some Kumho MX tires on the Cobra and see how they compare to the crappy Goodyear Eagle GS'. Nitto makes a good drag radial. I believe the BFG G-force drag radial is better though. May want to read up on that one. -
Mr. Brown showed up nice and early this morning with a set of tires and later again at my dad's work with some more goodies for the Cobra. Here's a pic: Unfortunately, I just noticed that the rear springs don't match. One has 7 coils while the other has eight. They are both marked as 525lb springs, but I don't think that's right. Here's another thing that caught my eye while I was at the tranny shop today (new input shaft, clutch, flywheel, and provisions to allow coolant flow out of the back of the driver's side head). Anyway, here's the picture:

With the Cobra: Modded SRT-4 Poor little Miata that thought he was fast Modded LS1 Firebird and tonight, a new turbo beetle. Gave him the head start, caught, and passed all before getting completely on the freeway None with the Civic yet, but that's because I don't have everything squared away (and I'm not a big fan of ~16MPG around town ) The Z is also just sitting. The spiders make webs faster than the car moves

Our MR2 is totalled... Insurance company gave the word...
Moridin replied to Mikelly's topic in Non Tech Board
Most of the magazines I've read are pretty acurate with their times. At least the specialty ones. Like Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords. They were recording 12.5 second 1/4s with a stock Cobra compared to the 13.4 to 13.8 times that Car and Driver, Motor trend, and others were recording. I'm sure there has to be another tuner magazine with some times in it for the MR2. I want to see some video Take some of your friend at the track so we can see -
The whoosing sound comes when the throttle plate closes and the forced air has nowhere to go, but back. Do you let off the throttle before you push the clutch in? A good way to check how your A/F (air to fuel ratio) is doing, is to install a W/B O2 sensor setup. http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/lm1.php is supposed to be an excellent setup for the money. Talk to your installer about this. Definitely a good way to tell if you're running so lean that you may be pinging.

Those of you that are coming from out the area, where are you staying? Anyone from up NorCal heading down? I'm leaving Friday morning sometime and taking 101 to meet some friends at Cal Poly and UCSB. If any one wants to caravan let me know. You can see from my above post where I booked my room. They supposedly have the works. Kitchen, computer desk, recliner, etc... Its an extended stay place and the rates, at the moment, range from $80 to $105 a night. Also, if anyone wants to ride down with me, I may have room for two more, but depending on the car I drive, it could be very cramped

I'm planning on making it. It will be my friend Steve and I. I'm staying in some extended stay hotel in Brea. Looks very nice for the price. http://www.freehotelsearch.com/us/California-hotels/Brea-hotels/Homestead_Brea-hotel.html is about the best link I could find. Just bring snacks and stuff, right?

I love the Magnaflows. We have them on the Cobra and they're awesome. The size and shape of the muffler itself will dictate the sound and loudness out of the tail-pipe. If you're looking to quiet the system down and cut down on resonance, then you may want to either put a resonator in there, or get a longer muffler. Personally, I just like them, because they flow so well. Lots of horsepower and a good sound when sized right.

Kept me out of trouble -
Hey Tim, you gonna have the "Goose" ready any time soon to try play with a little snake? The idler to take care of the belt slip just came in the other day, the clutch and new input shaft should be here sometime next week, coil-overs ordered an hour ago, and the tires are probably being taken care of as I type this. Your Z is looking very good though. Hope to see it when I come down next weekend.

As far as I remember, Osama and Saddam where bitter enemies. Iraq was a secular state and Bin Laden could hardly handle that.

He'll like the Civic. I love mine. It has kept me out of trouble so many times. Easy to control, rear end won't step out on you (unless you've set it up that way ), and the damn thing is so slow that I barely could hit 90MPH going down a hill. I can't comment on how a close to stock B16 operates in the car, but I can say that one with a turbo is a blast. Once I get running right, I'm going to go chase a few Vettes. If you're looking for a few interior peices to clean it up, you may want to look into some Si seats. They were actually made by Recaro, so as long as the foam is still good the seats will offer good support. 94-01 Acura Integra center console should also fit without any problems. The Civic's stock brakes are horrible, at least IMHO they are, so you may want to check out http://www.fastbrakes.com My dad and I discussed how weak they were and the added safety of a much needed upgrade. We went with the 11" rotor upgrade which used the bigger EX calipers and it was awesome, but make sure you get the bigger master cylinder. Now I have the Wilwood 4 piston fronts, and I'm sure when I them operating properly it will be that much better. Brian is a great guy and will answer questions whether you buy things or not. He's kinda like the Ross of the Honda world. You could always have MTV "Pimp Yo' Ride." -
Get that stuff back and either stick it into another CRX or sell it to pay for the Z. It really sux to have a car wrecked that you put so much and effort into.

Best suspension and brake combination
Moridin replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I think the guys meant C4 rear end from a C4 Vette, right? -
Hopefully that clutch holds up well. I want to see some vids of the car in action. I know I keep saying this, but I really want to come out east and see some things and all the Z cars (and your Vette). I hope I'm not making it any worse, but at least it was an honest mistake that he made. The other day in the rain I was screwing around in my friend's turbo Volvo and put it into a hill. He was doing anything dumb in the car, just didn't see the car

As I understand it, when it comes to jackets and such, Vanson is #1. The Rat Pack guys aroud here buy those then have a bullet proof vest sewn in for extra protection.
