I should have taken pictures of the Viper ACR while we were getting the Cobra tuned. Funny coincidence though, because it seems the Cobra clutch decided to take a crapper too. I guess the extra 100+ HP and torque really takes a toll on some of the stock pieces. Actually, come to think of it, I have video of the belly pan and reason why Vipers sound so bad. Sorry for the thread high-jack, but I really wanted to ask if you're going with an aftermarket clutch. If so, what kind?

Check out places like Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Moraga, and Orinda. There are right around Concord and have a much lower crime rate. Unfortunately, you can't away with as much, because the police officers have little to do. The biggest problem though, is the cost of living. My tiny little house, that barely fits the whole family, costs somewhere in the neighborhood of $500,000. We're talking one and a half bath, three bedroom, with a small garage. Maybe 1800 sq. ft. if I remember right. Might be smaller.

You don't even know the half of it. My dad and I are looking at new tires, so of course, what subject comes up, wheels. I'm thinking maybe and AFS replica in a wider rim so we can run some 315 BFG G-force drag radials (awesome looking tire. When you look at the tires the look like they'll eat your grandma if you let them loose ) So then we start talking about how much the stock wheels weigh and how much better the car would ride with a lighter wheel. The CCW topic comes up, because I was looking at doing a set for my Datsun. We check some weights, and with a 17x10 we could drop a little over 10lbs per wheel (assuming the stock wheels are a little over 28lbs). I just installed the new polished rolled exhaust tips a few nights ago. Really sets the car off. There are a few more mods in the works for the near future. This started out as a few bolt ons, and now its turned into a project that lays down 500HP and a G through the twisties in a package comfortable enough for my mom to drive to work everyday.

Integra axles hold up to a bit of power. As long as you're not running slicks with a 2.0L motor you don't need much else from what I understand. The Quaiffe diff is awful nice for the tranny though.

What she doesn't know won't kill me The car needs new tires now and another tune when we get the belt slip problem sorted out. Maybe I can talk my dad into buy a LM-1 wide band to make sure everything is in order Probably gonna need a new clutch too when we start getting the last little bit of the power to the ground

I encoded it in mpeg-2, so you may need to download the proper codecs.

I just finished the Cobra video. Sorry about the quality, but I only 10MB of space, so I squeezed it down just enough to fit. The dyno footage where it doesn't go through a full run is when the car went way too lean and started to ping horribly. Well...here's the link: http://home.comcast.net/~moridin2002/Cobra.mpg (PLEASE, RIGHT CLICK TO SAVE)

I have some exhaust videos that I'm going to throw in there with a music fade. My friend had a few people record us when we were "trying to keep up with eachother" It hasn't been dry enough yet to go have a another shot against his Supra. And, as soon as the other tires come in, the poor balding (crappy) F1s are getting torn apart I still have to adjust some of the timing on what I have done right now. Its a frame or two off.

Here's a quick little video that I mocked up for the supercharger install on the Cobra for those that are interested. The video will span the whole song when finished with a little racing and maybe a little destruction of the fastly balding tires. http://home.comcast.net/~moridin2002/CobraT.mpg (Right click to save, PLEASE) I want to do some local Z videos, but no one has taken me up on my offer yet. Anyone in the Bay Area or maybe Sacremento that wants to put together a little footage, just let me know. EDIT: Sorry about the quality, but my ISP only gives me 10MB of server space, so I become very limited.

I don't know if any of you saw, but David Letterman had Dale Earnhardt Jr. doing donuts in a Z06 Vette. So sweet.

Throw the E-brake on and burn the fronts up? That's all I can think of. It might round the edges of the flat spot down until round. I take no responsibility for anything breaking though.

The biggest problem was the bend right before the MAF. It seemed to cause a real problem with it working properly. There is now a new intake out courstesy of JLP that puts the MAF in the fender well directly behind the air filter. Cold air and proper MAF placement on the design makes 427HP on a stock pullley, catted X pipe, and cat-back exhaust. That's about 20 more horsepower than a similarly equipped car with a Steeda intake or Densecharger.

California Peoples, need your opinion on weekend trip.
Moridin replied to Sparky's topic in Non Tech Board
Anywhere in Tahoe has some good stuff. As long as it keeps raining here (the Bay Area), the mountains will be getting snow. I like Sierra at Tahoe a lot for snowboarding. Not too expensive and good backside to the mountain. Sacramento might be a good place to stay. Roughly an hour and a half away from the mountains and isn't all that expensive. You could even head over to old town Sacramento, which is kinda a neat place. Come to think of, when exactly are you coming? March 6th, there's a thing that John C. is setting up in southern California that would be worth coming out to. -
Now if I can just figure out how to get a Cobra motor (aluminum block though just gonna put 2003 Cobra internals and heads on) in my Z.

Your right Nic. I was only trying to provide the argument for the other side, it isn't really my belief. Like I said before, it should really be income based, but most scholarships are private, so there is little that you can do.

Its a tough balance. The people against affirmative action have a point, but so do those that are for it. Many minorities come from low income areas, where the public schools aren't nearly as good, and the money for outside tutoring is hard to come by. Its a toss up in my opinion. They should forget race all together and go off of income. At least that is what the government does with Financial Aid and such.

I think if we put the Supercharged emblem under the SVT and we should be right there. We are going to order the idler pulley today or tomorrow, so all that slip will go away. Now it's Viper hunting time

Almost hit the 500HP mark today with mom's Cobra. Horsepower mods are as follows: JBA shorty headers, Magnaflow cat-back, Accufab throttle body, Apten ported Eaton blower (ported stock blower), 2.80" Apten pulley, Steeda cold air intake (replacement for the Densecharger which I will explain later), and a custom tune courtesy of Shawn Ellis (awesome, awesome guy). We ended up installing all the blower stuff Friday night and early Saturday morning; roughly 2:30A or so and we were supposed to be at Apex Saturday morning around 9:00A. After getting to Apex around 10:00A we found out that they were still working on the first car (we were third in line), because it was throwing a fit. The same thing happened to next car, which ended up making a little over 400RWHP bone stock with Shawn's help. Our turn rolled around, and the butterflies were full bore, because we had done all the work ourselves on a $10,000 motor. Shawn loaded a conservative tune, based on the mods we had described. They go to run it up and the damn thing starts pinging like crazy. Shawn maxed out the fuel settings in attempts to make sure it was extremely rich. Damn thing read lean again, and begin to ping like nothin' else. In attempts to make a really long story short, the Densecharger was the cause of the problem with a curve before the MAF, so it wasn't getting a good reading causing the car to run lean. We were lucky Apex had a Steeda CAI, so we installed it in a few minutes and prayed. Sure enough, the car went way fat, and put out roughly 422HP. Two tunes later we were at what the dyno graph says on this page. If we had more time, Shawn would have attempted get us to 500, but belt slip was making it hard. If you look at the AF ratio where it dips, that's where the car was only making 12PSI of boost where it should have been closer to 14 or 15. An idler pulley should take care of that quite easily. The moral of the story is to make sure your MAF sensor is getting good laminar airflow P.S. Mike Kelley, if Shawn Ellis ever makes it anywhere near your area, I would take your Vette to him. He's an awesome guy and know's his stuff. The guy can tune. He does all Fords and Vettes.

Thanks alot Jon, that's awesome. I should get a lot of good use out of it. Hopefully, I'll get some time to finish it all soon.

I think at the beginning of April if I remember correctly. Dan Juday posted something about it earlier and also has a link to the plans in his signature. If you remember, I was the younger blonde haired kid with the gun metal Z. We chated for a little while. Anyway, hope to see you there.

I will give the definite if I can get it off from work. I find out in a week or so. I'm also not sure about the car situation yet. My friend Steve wants to come down too if that's alright.

Vince, did you come out to Rio Vista last year? I think I met you, but the hair looks different. You gonna be coming out again this year?

You may want to check out insurance for hot rods/classic cars. If you have very little into the car and don't drive it, the rates should be very, very low. At least that's what I got quoted at.

What kind of head unit are you looking to put in the Vette? Also, for subwoofers you may want to check out http://www.diysubwoofers.org/talkshop/ as they offer some good info about how different subs compare to others. My set of 10's that I got from recomendations from those on the forum are simply awesome. Another good place to check for good speaker deals is http://www.ubid.com. I bought my CDT subs and MA Audio speakers from there. Great stuff. Just don't buy refurbished heads from them, because they never seem to work right. If you're looking at amps, US Acoustics and Blaupunkt T-Class are the way to go. Great power, last long, both are underated as far as wattage goes, and come in at a great price. http://www.sounddomain.com should have good deals on both.
