  1. Weren't those things outlawed from a few forms of racing, because they handled so well?
  2. There are a host of variables that are required for VTEC to kick in. The computer needs to see the speed of the car, because I believe VTEC won't work below 15MPH. As for the STD, that's the trim level of my car. My uncle wanted a really cheap car that got great milage so he bought the works No sound deadening, 4spd, 70HP 1.5L motor, and a lack of any other things. I don't even think the car came with a stereo originally. A big plus though, is the car is the lightest of all the hatches
  3. I guess VTEC doesn't work when the speedo sensor isn't hooked up properly. I took all of today, er...yesterday, getting a few more of the bugs worked out. I can definitely say that VTEC is now working and the car frickin' rips. Once your into boost the car almost feels as fast as my Mom's 400 RWHP Cobra. Unfortunately, the car started to mis pretty badly again and the computer was thinking it was knock. The O2 sensor is way gone from the previous owner using quite a bit of race gas. I probably fouled out the plugs again too. Oh...I got the exhaust almost all hooked up. The Thermal R&D exhausts are extremely well made. Pretty quiet all the way around. Has a great sound though. Almost V6 like. The HKS SSQ blow-off valve isn't too loud either, and it definitely turns heads when it makes that special sound from underneath the hood. 3/4 done with one boosted car, almost ready to get started on the next Oh...if anyone has some room to host a few videos, I'd be glad to upload them.
  4. What kind of motor is that? Either its some sort of 4 cylinder, V6, or V8 set way, way back into the firewall or that's a turbo rotary. Hmmm...
  5. Bay Area caravan anyone? I won't have a Z, but I will be driving something fun...I hope.
  6. So is it set for the 6th? I'll see if I can get that day off. Hopefully I didn't blow the seals out on my turbo Honda, so I have something to drive down. Need to bring any food or anything?
  7. Yeah, it moves pretty quickly. I don't think there's a cure either. Anyway, I got the exhaust hooked up, or enough to keep it quiet. Sounds like no Honda I've ever heard before. Wierd. I'm getting a lot of oil out of some where. I don't think I have the crank case venting done properly and now I'm throwing a code which I'm going to look up right now. Once I get it sorted out, here comes the boost
  8. If I ever manage to get it all sorted it out. Still got to put the exhaust on, get some new vacuum lines, bleed the brakes, hook up the turbo timer, and a few others. Hopefully I'll have it somewhat done, so I can drive it to Rio Vista. Oh yean, did I mention my speedo doesn't work quite yet.
  9. Finally, my little Honda runs again. The turbo motor is sweet. The thing frickin' rips. I was probably only boosting 6psi or so and man. Wow!!!. Just a few more minor things to work out and then its on to the Z. At least one car is boosting. Many pics and videos to come.
  10. Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. Cheesefrog's friends cars are insane. That blue Civic that just ripped down this one street. I can't remember if the 600HP Supra was trying to catch it or not.
  11. Cheesefrog's car is going to spank that poor little SRT or at least I hope. That was a mid 10 sec Viper that the Civic held with, so you never know.
  12. I walked into Circuit City to look for something for my car audio system. I looked over to the TV's and saw this swan. I'm thinking to myself "Why the hell is this big swan in the store?" My dumba** forgot that I was in an electronics store, but that's the impression it made. Definitely can't wait for 80GB cd type things. Think DVD with 5 to 10 times the storage. It can hold up to 18 hours of compressed DVD format (MPEG2) or 2 hours of uncompressed high definition television. Pretty amazing. I think Sony is calling theirs Blue Ray or something.
  13. The whole turbo system must have been reworked, because the turbo is integrated into the exhaust manifold. That is simply amazing though. Aux, I wouldn't be too sure about an upcoming AWD SRT-4 being only a rumor. The car is growing strength in the rallying community and I'm sure Dodge/Chrylser is probably looking into being really competitive in Group N (I think that is the right designation).
  14. Jeez...you continue to amaze me everytime you post. Right now, I'm posting useless information, but everyone you make is something very informative.
  15. RC Car Nitro fuel is another great way to burn some hair off your bal...I mean arms. If little brother is being a PITA, proceed to spray from squirt bottle, through lit match on him, until all hair on arms is burnt off.
  16. The offer two different active components. The Prodrive has the electric strut. while the Praxxis is an air suspensions allowing ride height and spring rate changes. Combing the two would be the best of both worlds, but I'm not sure that will ever happen. Chevy's 50th anniversery Corvette (I think it's 50th) has the Magnaride dampers which change the fluid viscosity to in turn change the valving. I'm sure its not quite on par with the Prodrive system, but you get the idea. If anyone knows anything about WRX suspension systems, maybe they could fill us in. I wonder how much work it would take to adapt a set of those Prodrive units to a Z. Maybe get them custom made
  17. I have a bunch of videos that I can upload. Many compilation type things to help give ideas. My offer still stands though. I have a decent digital video camera that I can use to take some good video of Bay Area and maybe Sacremento Z cars (or other Datsuns for that matter, because I do have a few of SSS510's 1/4 mile blasts on the 8mm. Wouldn't take much to put them on the digital and then on to the computer). The mic on the camera is pretty good too, so it won't flatten out when you need to hear the engine music - I took some video of the Cobra without the catback and it picked up every bit of it. Linkin Park, Tool, and maybe one or two others are really the only newer bands that I can think who make some music that goes pretty well with car vids. Maybe some Audioslave and Perfect Circle too. At least the ball is rolling on this now.
  18. If you want John C., I can go through those CD's and get some good clips. I'll pay for shipping and for CDs if you want to make me a set of copies. Oh...If any of you in the Bay Area want to get together to make some videos, we have a pretty good digital camera and a wide angle lens that I can slap on if need be.
  19. Drax, you could set up a FTP site where the videos could be dumped. Would be much better than trying to do it via email.
  20. My list: Pete P. Mike Kelly Dan Juday Davy Tim (Tim240Z) MikeKZ SuperDan Ross C. All of these guys are very prominent on the board and in the Z community. No hard feelings to anyone that I didn't include, but the guys above have been around forever. I would say GrumpyVette, but I'm not even sure if he owns a Z. I do know that he is the master when it comes to engine knowledge.
  21. I'll get the name of it. My dad came across one for my Z. Because I don't have a bunch of money in it yet, it was only going to cost me something like $30 a month. At any time you could could update the coverage to accomodate any changes in the vehicles.
  22. That's not more than ten minutes from my cousin's house. I'll see if I can get it off work.
  23. Falken Azenzis Kumho Ectsa MX Nitto 555R's or 555R2 BFG drag radials or KDs We have Eagle F1s on the Cobra and they handle all right, but don't really hook up. If I launch anywhere above idle, I just spin em.
  24. The minute you are in fear, because of terrorism, then the terrorists have won. To give up rights so readily, thinking they are lost for the sake of security, then we've lost the war already. Mike, when I mentioned the guy on this board, I actually knew him outside of this internet community. Not a close friend though, so it's probably not nearly as meaningful.
