  1. Have you seen how fast that car is. Maybe you should take a look at his video vs. the cammed, spuirted, and bolt on Viper.
  2. You guys should go check out Cheesefrog's site. His Civic is the slowest one on there.
  3. Way ahead of you... The P1800 in the pictures was the car I drove through Highschool and my first year of college until the motor let go from the 100 mile a day trips. Right now its sitting in storage waiting on funding for its new heart. either a CA18DET' date=' or a SR20DET. but...The problem i find is that since im building it for my father, I want him to be able to take it to a volvo dealership to get it fixed instead of having to check a list of hybrid parts that his car has. Hes the type of person that likes to drive it and forget it. so that gets me thinking about creating a Hybrid P1800 using only volvo parts. maybe from the C convertable, im talking suspension, brakes, drivetrain, and some of the interior. The P1800 in the pictures is a 1962..vin number 2506! try calling the DMV to register that one...confuses the hell out of em. it was part of the trial production run that was built by Jenson under a three year contract to produce 10,000 from 1960-1963. Unforunatly, Volvo was not happy with the jenson coachworks, and extreamly upset with the South african assembler. Volvo cancled their contract with Jenson after only 6000 units. After that, they built their own production facility in sweden, and went back into production of the P1800S in 1964. Any P1800 built from 1964 on is an S model, designating of course...Sweden. So thats the volvo 1800 lesson for today.[/quote'] I don't know how much heavier they are, but the turbo 2.3L 4 cylinders in the late 80's 7xx Volvos are very strong. My friend has 740 with only bolt ons and a custom exhaust, and it pulls pretty hard. The motor and turbo are on their way out too. He's getting smoke all over the place (but that's with 215,000 miles and twice the amount of boost as stock).
  4. I found one of my other favorite cars. Kudos to who ever can recognize this one
  5. Brown Bead is a cheaper, better alternative to Dynamat and Dynamat extreme. Here's the website http://www.b-quiet.com/

    Megasquirt

Just be careful how you post things. That first response was not a good way to introduce yourself to a well respected and extremely well run board. Things can easily be misconstrued on the internet as I've seen on the Mustang boards (which unfortunately resulting in banning of a few well known people). Other than that, glad to see another member on the board and to see that you're interested in the Megasquirt setup. Guys, keep the Megasquirt info coming. I'm learning soooo much and can't wait until Ultramegasquirt is released. Gonna get tested on my turbo conversion
  7. I really want to build a Volvo P1800ES (the hatchback one) with an SR20DET. This is the front end I want:
  8. Take a look at this http://www.coolcarllc.com/page.asp?ID=1
  9. The PDK bars are awesome. I don't have my front one on yet, because I haven't had time to send the middle bar back in to get an adjustable one. They are amazing though, and really help tighten up the whole front end.
  10. OOOHHHH!!! I almost forgot. Gran Turismo 4 (it will have a few 240s) for the playstation 2 has an online part. I also believe Sega GT 2 (which also has some 240's in it) is out, or will be out soon, also has an online portion for the game.
  11. There was a game a little while ago that I came across called Racer X or something of the sort. It was completely free, but you needed to put your own skins on the cars and find, or make, tracks. It was really interesting, because you have complete control over the look and feel of the car. The physics worked so well, that guys would program their dragster Mustangs in, and do wheelies in the game, just like real life. You could do some searching on the web and see what pops up. For those that like the DIY project, this one might be interesting.
  12. That would make for a fun road trip to bring it out there. I wonder if I could get it in my little Honda.
  13. I have no clue. It was $400 to get it shipped from Ontario, Canada to my house. Its not just the motor and tranny. I also have the axles, computer, and something else that I can't remember at the moment.
  14. We have way too many projects at my house. My 91 Civic and Z, my parent's 03 Cobra, a 1970 Ford twin I-beam F100, my brother's 94 Civic, and the CRX shell that I got for free with my turbo motor (which we are building for my sis). I just found a very interesting peice of info for DIY Hondata. It's call Uberdata I think. Here's the link :http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=626171 I don't know what you're doing for fuel management and boost control for the Hondas, but the Uberdata thing looks really good. For the D series motor, you may have to convert to OBD1 (talking about your 90 Civic). I know you need to for a B series motor, but the D series OBD0 computer may have the ability to be chipped and programmed. If you want a B series swap for your 90's Civic, I have a JDM B16A1 with LSD cable tranny sitting in my garage. I have a new Exedy flywheel and clutch to go with it, along with some HCP mounts and modified shift linkage if you are interested.
  15. Why did you fab the mouts for the swap? Money reasons? My friends and I are thinking of ways to use my little SOHC 70HP D15. We're thinking of turbo'ing the thing and fabbing up some sort of sand rail or off-road tube frame car. Let me get this straight. You have one son with a non-turbo MR2, another with a EG Civic (which has received a B18 - is it the non-vtec one?), and another with a 90 hatch that is eventually going to get a turbo D15. Did I get that right? You need to take some pics, so we can see all this wonderful work that you're doing. Your kids are going to have a legacy at their schools for their cars
  16. I was going to say the same thing. There is so much room for a V8 in there. I wonder if a Ford modular motor would go in.
  17. I've heard Canon underates their CCDs, just like Ford underates the horsepower on their new Cobras.
  18. There is definitely something to be said about getting a motor that has already been built and ready to go. I'm going to do my turbo swap on my 91 hatch in two weeks. I wish I could share notes with you Mike, but I'm not sure anything I have would help (mine is a older car, and you're doing custom mounts). Is thing going turbo? Did you ever find the turbo for the car?
  19. Those things are so sweet. It has saved me very many times already, and we've only had ours for a few months. Great thing to go along with the Cobra
  20. Maybe because a) they get snatched up really quickly or people like to keep their cars.
  21. I actually have a friend with an 80's 740 Turbo. With stock everything, except for blow off valve and boost controller, he made 165HP and 215 lbft of TQ at the rear wheels. That is with a dying motor and turbo. Not bad. My dad and I were thinking about that Hayabusa motor. I think one of our next projects is going to be an original Mini Cooper with a Busa motor. They can handle boost with a decent build too. Some bikes put out more than 500HP to the wheel. Pretty awesome if you ask me.
  22. You could always use a Hayabusa motor too
  23. TAP Plastics sells some aluminum cleaner. If you just do it by hand, you'll get a nice satin finish. Really easy to do. Take some Simple Green and clean all the oil and grease off. Then take the aluminum cleaner and apply with a clean to well. Continue until you get the finish you want.
  24. Hey!!! I own a Honda Actually some joker in a Honda Civic with a fart can wanted to race me while I was in the parent's Cobra. It was pretty damn funny. He also tried to pass me on the right, so I just left it in 4th at 30mph, and put my foot down. It was enough so he could hear the blower whine, but in a high gear so I was going just the right speed to block him off Then he revs on me at the light. I also had a another guy in an SRT-4 try and race while I was in the Cobra. I heard his friend say to the guy driving, "This guy (meaning me) doesn't even know what he's up against." I think they thought I was driving a V6. It sux when you get beat by twenty car lengths or so. If you really want some fun kills, get yourself a turbo L6 or V8 and go after some LS1 Camaros, Cobras, and Vettes.
  25. Isn't that 1100 Canadian, though? I don't know the current exchange rate, but if it is Canadian currency, then it is probably more reasonable than most think. Downpipes alone, can cost more than $250. Add in the cost of the muffler and the piping, plus fabrication costs, its closer a decent deal.
