Really? Wow, so the pin offset problem can be fixed that easily? Sounds good to me.

I'm looking for a good valve spring compressor for the L28. I'd like to get one that will work for either head on car or head off car spring changes. What do some of our pros use?

I've been trying like hell to find a way to build a stroker without overboring the block or spending a mass of money on custom pistons. So far I've been working on pistons for obvious reasons. I've found two candidates but only one seems feasible at this point. The RB26 and RB25 pistons seem to have the right bore at stock size and pin height to match, but as they're not sold in the US those are out the window. However the 4G63 out of a Mitsubishi Eclipse is an 86mm bore, 21mm pin diameter and 34.7mm pin height piston. So far these are all the specs I can get from it, but they seem like they would work with a 2mm head gasket. I realize they'll protrude above the deck over 1mm, but if the top compression ring is down far enough this shouldn't be a problem with a 2mm MLS head gasket. Being that they're primarily turbo pistons they should have some sort of dish that might enable shaving some lip off the top of the piston to clear some more. This is just a though, but I'd like some feedback on this. Does anyone have anymore information on these pistons?

Hehe, Maybe I'll see you here.... It's cold bring some warm clothes!

You guys have way too much fun....Damn that looked like a blast...

Replacing that cable is a pain. I had to do it on my 77. I'm only 5'11" and I don't think my arms are all that long, but I was able to reach around the engine enough to get the latch with a flat head screw driver. And yes, please use ramps or at the least jack stands.

The only thing that concerns me here is you said that you have the green wire connected to the rest of the MS grounds? The green wire should be connected to the shielding around the ignition wire (Pin 24). I don't know what kind of difference this makes, but my car runs wired that way. The center copper core connects to the red wire, make sure to heat shrink wrap it to keep it from crossing connections with the braided shield. Then twist the braided shielding up and connect it to the green wire.

My roof racks are locking. They use steel cables and a ratcheting lock down with rubber safety pads to secure the board to the roof. I have two keys, one for the rack itself and one for the board ratchets.

The seal pictured is the rear transmission extension seal. This is the location where the "slip joint" of the drive shaft inserts into the tail shaft of the transmission. As for the pictures, the differences between the domestic counter parts and the nissan model are well documented in the forum. A search for T5 and WC T5 or World Class T5 will pull up quite a bit of info on the many different transmission ideas people have tossed around and give a good idea of the differences.

I don't know, I kind of like the way the rear windows were covered over. Probably keeps quite a bit of sun out in the summer which would make it a bit cooler.

I just use my Z....

Probably a good idea...

I like Cars, great movie and will be the first on my kids list along side Dad's home movies of rebuilding his old Datsuns. lol I like the posters idea and I might take some shots and the real things and have them framed...Guess I'm a true gear head when I think pictures of an engine block head and all the trimmings make great photography.

The wife and I are expecting our baby boy in May. We're both looking for car themes for the kids room, but haven't had a lot of luck with themes that we like. Everything is very cartoon like, granted for kids that's great but we were hoping for something more realistic in designs. I figured I'd ask my favorite group of fellow car nuts if they had any experience with this or any ideas where to look. Thanks!

Nice pics... Suggestion, three words...Neutral Density Filter It'll help keep some of the glare off the snow. You could also use a circular polarizer which would help bring out your sky and clean up the snow glare. I'm big on skies...

Thanks for that site! That will be some good reading.

Nice lens choice, but that thing is expensive! Not to mention the D300 is several thousand in itself.

I took these photos in aperture priority mode working with around 7.1 or 8 aperture opening. The morning was really gray and hazy and I wanted to clear the picture up, but still maintain the mood. I love skies for some reason. The skies out here a great. They don't actually look like that, but they're close. I did a little linear curve adjustment to the pictures to bring the colors in the sky out, darken the blacks a bit and give a smoother look to the faces. The images look darker here than they do in the original finished work. The downside to uploading pics to a place like photobucket is they cut the image size down and compress it which offsets things a bit. Unfortunately I only have one lens for Nikon D40x and it's the 18-55mm kit lens that came with it. I don't have any filters so all my adjustments are done in UFRaw and GIMP (I don't pay for software when there's good free substitutes). Because I take all my shots in RAW format I get a full range of the image information and I can software adjust exposure and lighting. The images are bit dark because I thought the skies looked better contrasting a more somber mood throughout the image. Eh, artistic impression, gotta love it...lol

Wow you guys are great photographers. My work is nowhere near most of yours, but...Here's some of my work in Iraq... Warming around the grill before we eat... The Grill Master! MSgt Johnson doing what he loves. My first portrait, one of my coworkers, Jody. I hope it's alright, I'm new at this stuff.

Wow my two favorite passions all in one forum. This is great!

I've just found a new passion in photography that I didn't know I had. I purchased a Nikon D40X kit for taking photos out here in the desert and for the upcoming child. My thought was a more expensive camera with exchangeable lenses would take better pictures and give me more options for zoom shots. This limited view of the camera quickly diminished when I began studying the different settings; aperture, shutter speed, ISO levels, lighting filters, RAW imaging, etc... The more I've played with the camera the more intrigued I've become with it and with photography in general. The views you can take in and the colors you can create are incredible to say the least. Then to get into RAW image editing with UFRaw and GIMP is amazing. You can take a blah photo that might eb slightly over or under exposed and make a gorgeous picture from it. I'm so intrigued with it that I'm also looking into buying another Nikon digital SLR, the D80. It's feature set is only slightly better than the D40X with a slight price increase, but it also enables the use of the older auto focus lenses made by Nikkor. I've seen some very nice shots of some of the Z cars on the forum and thought I'd ask if anyone else had a passion for taking photos. For anyone who's thought about getting into photography I highly recommend the D40 series for a starter camera, it's contagious. The camera is perfect for introducing you to the different professional settings and still enables an automatic point and shoot mode. When you start looking or other lenses though the D40 series can be expensive because of the limited auto focus lens type. Hence the reason I'm looking at the D80 now. Does anyone know of any good photography forums?

Lucky...$2k for an already modded Z is damned good. I payed $2k for my daily driver 81ZX and it needed some work. But for as hard as it is to find a good body around here I couldn't complain about the price. Sounds like a fun car. I would check it over for a boost leak somewhere because 4psi doesn't sound like enough for what's pushing it. Even at 10:1 I would have figured 6-8psi at least. If he went with a radical enough cam grind it would bleed off some of the excess compression to keep the boost from blowing the head gasket clean out.

Unfortunately in a society like America you get a bad rap because we tend to publicize our own stupidity more than anything. The media markets think it makes better ratings. Americans in general aren't the dumb rednecks other countries think we are, but in the same respect with our abundant population and overzealous mediaphiles we present all our faults and ignorance to the world. Sadly we do have a lot of morons here though...Somehow I end up working with them on a regular basis.
