  1. I believe that is backwards. The Opel GT was styled chiefly by GM’s Clare MacKichan, who’d played a big part in designing the 1955 Chevrolet before his tour of duty in the Russelsheim studios. To shake Opel up a bit, GM sent American Clare MacKichan to the German subsidiary in 1962. MacKichan, a pupil of Harley Earl who had led Chevrolet's design studio since 1952, helped refine the design of the 1953 Corvette and oversaw the design of the 1955-'57 Chevrolets and the 1957 Corvette SS.
  2. Like m4xwellmurd3r said a radiator shop would probably be the easiest and fastest. If you wnat to tackle it yourself here's a couple options. http://www.por15.com/products.asp?dept=12 http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemID=382&itemType=PRODUCT&path=1%2C2%2C389%2C390%2C398&KickerID=353&KICKER I haven't tried either and have heard mixed results form this type of "fix"
  3. Thanks to everyone for the input on this. My MSA fiberglass bumper was on my porch when I got home last night, its going to fit perfectly. I will say it is much better quality than the front one I got from Showcars Bodyparts. It has brackets built in to bolt to a 240Z which the Showcar one didn't. However it is pretty thin fiberglass, I may add some glass to the inside for more a little more rigidity. There is also seams on the corners that will need finishing and of course I'll paint it to match the front bumper. I did decide to get the mega-dollar mounting hardware from http://store.datsunspirit.com/index....PROD&ProdID=67 . I could have made brackets myself but I have enough projects going at the same time now. Plus these will simply bolt on and there are some compound bends to these bracket I just don't want to mess with.
  4. Damn Wayne, now I know you are totally insane, LOL. Good luck with the conversion hope to see it running at DNI Shootout.
  5. Yeah but we have storm sewers! My brother lives in Tucson. I was out there a couple years ago during the "rainy season". Its a sight to see for sure. Water running down the streets was like driving through rapids. I think they lost 2 people swept away in those dry water shunts. 10 minutes later it quit raining and everything was dry as a bone.
  6. Its like that in Georgia too. What rain we have had this summer doesn't even make mud. I think I've mowed the grass 3 times this year and then only to knock down the drought tolerant weeds, grass died months ago. They are talking about closing businesses here too. One of the assholes I work with was bitching the other day because the police gave him a ticket for washing his car during the water restriction. Funny though, you drive past the $300,000 + housing developments and their landscapes still look very green. Hmmmmmmmmm, I guess the police don't ticket those folks.
  7. It does seem high although shipping anything freight is costly. MotorSports charged my $40 to ship a fiberglass 240Z bumper. Its not so much the weight as it is the size of something like this. Like I tell people I ship videos to, "Its not the shipping its the handling", LOL.
  8. I Emailed him too because the action says Nissan 280Z 79-83, I don't think they made a 280Z in those years. He said send a picture of my car, I did. Of course he said it would fit. Still looks like a 240Z part to me, I think I'll pass. If he doesn't know what he has odds are it won't fit anything.
  9. One more drop. 94 Camaros came with a 4L60E, 4 speed overdrive automatic. There is a GM 5 speed automatic in the new cars like the Solstice GXP and even a 6 speed automatic in the GMC Sierra 2500HD. No clue if they could be adapted to work on a 94 LT1. My bet is you'll have a 4L60E with beefed up stuff which probably make it like a 4L80E.
  10. Very nice. Great job of editing and music sync. People think its shooting the video thats tough, its really the editing that make the video.
  11. Very nice. I did that on my 280Z too using Pioneer 6x9 triaxial speakers. However I don't have speakers in the floor like you do, I only have them mounted in the front of the storage bins on 1/2" plywood. The problem I have is the speakers aim straight into the back of the seats so the sound is muffled quit a bit killing off much of the mid and high freq. Since I have the interior torn apart anyway I might add some floor speakers like you did. No subs for me, I like bass but not to the point where the car shakes and my neighbors complain, LOL.

    Hash Marks

White stripe and red hash marks are paying tribute to the five original Grand Sport racing cars built in secret by Zora Arkus Duntov in 1963. So Maybe they wouldn't be appropriate on a Z, might look cool though.
  13. I picked up a Greedy electronic fuel pressure gauge on Ebay a while back for $75. Its dash mounted and since I'm redoing my whole dash it seemed like a nice thing to have. There are some on Ebay now but pretty expensive. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GReddy-52mm-Electronic-Fuel-Oil-Pressure-Gauge-BLACK_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6763QQihZ008QQitemZ180152847539QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V
  14. I agree that your fuel pressure is low. I'm no expert but my local expert told me the run 3/8" lines both ways. The stock LT1 lines are 3/8" in and 5/16" return. No clue if this is your stumbling problem but it could be.
  15. I switched from a Scarab set to JTR too. My reason for using JTR was mainly engine/tranny placement. My new engine is an LT1 so I didn't have to mess with the hood latch, no distributor to interfere.
  16. And if they ask you what you have in it tell them its stock!
  17. Thanks. The stock hardware is totally gone on my car. I pulled it all when I swapped the gas tank for the LT1 conversion wasn't that tough once the tank was removed.
  18. Those look like the Euro bumpers, very nice, very expensive, LOL.
  19. I removed the bumper shocks and all the 280Z brackets, removes an amazing amount of weight. I used a fiberglass 240Z bumper and fabricated my own brackets. Not sure if a 240Z bumper would hook up to the stock 280Z shock mounts but it would stick ot pretty far unless you removed the pressure for the shocks and pushed them in. Still don't know how it would look.
  20. No, I meant rear bumper. I checked out the spirit brackets. $80 is a lot for 2 small pieces of steel but might be worth it rather than attempting to fabricate something.
  21. I have two 1.125" adapters with Honda spacing I will sell. PM me if you're interested. They were on a 240Z rear supension I bought. They were installed but I don't think they've ever been run. I went with 1.5" for my 40 offset.
  22. One thing about the Bower setup is space. I too used it and as Bartman told me there was some "tweaking" necessary to use the Bower mount in mt 280Z. I had to not only massage the shock tower and had the massage the Bower mount as well. And even with that there is less than 1/2" clearance on my setup. A lot depends on where your final engine position is. I also had to modify (straighten) the MassAir bracket they provide to use the cold air setup I'm using.
