  1. It wouldn't be easy to do since they changed the design of the latch on later models--if you look at a 300ZX, the actual latch assembly is mounted in the rear fascia, and the hatch simply has the rod that catches in the latch--it's the exact opposite on the early Z cars. You would have to run the cable up thru the edge of the actual hatch in order to get it to actuate the plunger I'd given some thought to using a solenoid (similar to door poppers) but am now leaning towards just welding the hatch on, since I don't plan on ever using that space for storage
  2. Grumpy, Don't know exactly what dimensions the locks you need are, but have you checked McMaster? They have various locks with the tube type keys, and they offer a "keyed-alike" option Check catalog page 2775
  3. Just a side note on the EZ Wiring harness--a friend and I put one of their harnesses into a 48 Chevy truck, and it was worth every penny. The harness is very nicely done, all wires are marked, fusebox professionally terminated and all that I will definitely be using one on my car--the heck with Painless and their prices
  4. http://www.carbuyingtips.com/billofsale.xls Used this one for the last 2 cars I've sold--seems to be just fine
  5. If it helps--yes, you did answer your own question; one is NO, the other is NC. Be careful when buying replacement relays as well--some of the ones they sell for lighting setups appear the same (have all 5 terminals), but there are really just 2 87 pins, no 87A
  6. Well, after putting a bunch of thought into it (been considering this for a while), I decided to go with the Miller 210 I had noticed their comparison sheets were outdated myself--figured it was just what they had at the time ~$1230 on ebay, shipped for free--now I get to start putting stuff together instead of just breaking it
  7. I wish I could get one of those, for the infinite adjustability, but that extra $$ is the deal killer as far as the wife is concerned Didn't realize how the various companies were essentially combined; I just knew that had used both Miller and Hobart, and the Hobart was just crap by comparison; even with both being very similar machines
  8. Exactly--that's why I'm going for the higher end unit I'll have to check with Airgas and see about the HTP unit--one plus I noticed is it has more adjustments for the heat--makes for a little more fine tuning Huy, Thanks for the offer, but that machine is just waaay to small for what I want; plus it's a Hobart, which I have never been happy with Jim
  9. Thanks John--I've seen mention a couple times of HTP products, but I have yet to find an online vendor so I can research prices; kinda makes me wonder how hard it will be to get consumable parts when needed--I have an Airgas office local to me, and they sell the Lincoln and Miller lines, so I know parts are easy to get Thanks, Jim
  10. TTT Thanks gang--this is the sort of thing I'm looking for Plan on buying at the end of the week, just have to wait till I get home from business trip
  11. OK gang, between my tax refund and annual bonus, I've got enough extra dough to get a welder, as well as permission from the wife (had to remodel the kitchen first). I am by no means a great welder, but I can do OK (working on improving skills) I figure for all I'm gonna do, a MIG would be my best choice--definitely a gas-shielded unit Budget and feature-wise, I've narrowed it down to these two (trust the name brands, used them before--if anyone has other QUALITY suggestions, please post) MillerMatic 210 Millermatic 210 on eBay Lincoln PowerMIG 215 Lincoln PowerMIG on eBay Thanks for the input, Jim
  12. Yeah, I saw that this morning as well--I agree it was kind of uncalled for; Carl Beck usually puts a quick stop to the vendor-bashing over there, I'm surprised that message went through, because I consider that to be one hell of a bashing Also, for those who may not want to sign up for the mailing list, the guys over at z31.com archive all the list traffic: http://www.z31.com/izccarchives/
  13. And if you wanna save a few bucks, check out the harnesses over at http://www.ezwiring.com Helped a buddy wire a 48 Chevy truck with one of those kits--plenty easy; even allowing for the extras we put in like power seats, electric wipers, CD player, nitrous, electric fans, etc
  14. IIRC, the only way it can be changed is by an admin on phpBB--might want to send a PM to Dan and see what he says
  15. Here's the few pages I have online: http://hybridz.jimzdat.com/pics/ I can probably scan the pages from the 1976 FSM that show all the dimensions also if you want them
  16. On all 4 of the Z's I've owned, the VIN was stamped on the firewall, above the brake booster--might be hard to see if it's all gunked up, but that will help figure it out as well
  17. according to the online calculator at my credit union--if you get it for the current price on a 5% interest rate, for 5 years, your monthly payment would only be $264,199.00
  18. Joe, he did that for a reason--there are a bunch of idiots out there that use software to scan thru webpages and forums looking for email addresses so they can put em on spam lists. Writing the email address the way aux did keeps that software from finding it, therefore keeping him off one more spammer's list. If you would, please edit your post (or have a mod do it) so he doesnt get screwed Jim
  19. Call Jeg's--they have a 10-pt kit available for the 2+2 I have one sitting in the basement waiting to be installed in my car--they run around $300 shipped
  20. Ummm, if you try going to the URL associated with those pics, it wants you to log into the email server for a domain--might want to check that again
  21. Welol, I tried emailing it to ya, but AOL kicked it back saying that you aren't allowing attachments; so I just put it up on my site for download instead: http://www.jimzdat.com/images/turns.jpg Jim
  22. I've got the manual for the 76, and a scanner--would that be close enough for ya? I'm not sure what (if any) differences there are between the two Jim
  23. Well, I don't have any specific links, but one place to start looking is on the truck and mustang forums--my 91 Bronco has an 8.8, and I know there are people who wanna build em up some. Maybe try http://www.fullsizebronco.com or http://www.ford-trucks.com or http://www.corral.net for a start--check out the links pages and ya might get lucky
  24. OK, got it put up now: http://hybridz.jimzdat.com/gtr_manual.pdf For you IE guys: right-click, save as For Mozilla/Netscape: right-click, save link target as If you're using some other browser, you're on your own I've got 10GB of bandwidth per month, if I get to the point where I get my "80% traffic alarm" email, I'll pull it until the next month--just so everyone knows Jim
  25. I'll get it put up around 7AM (eastern time)--gotta wait till I get home from work
