  1. Any reason you're not using the larger Q45 throttle body?
  2. That's the only car I could find with them on. They look really similar to a wheel that does the same pattern but in 5-star.
  3. Not sure if this had been posted anywhere, but Petrolicious made a video which focus's on a Porsche 912. However, at about 7:30, the video switches focus, and covers a particularly awesome 240z. This is John Coffey's Peking to Paris 240z rally car. John's last car. I thought some of you guys would like it, as in typical Petrolicious fashion, the video has very nice cinematography. http://petrolicious.com/this-porsche-912-is-fully-committed
  4. At 6'2 I felt cramped sitting inside one. I'm not a racecar driver, but I thought it was really annoying to drive. I imagine you wouldn't get that problem if you were shorter though.
  5. Honestly I think the tire marks would look awesome in the room. Figure it this way, if he's basically building a man cave anyway, why not put tiremarks on the floor? Adds to the ambiance. ****, if anything he INCREASED the value of his home. That man is awesome.
  6. So when in neutral the revs are actually less then when in drive or reverse? Can you give some sort of range that you're experiencing? Like what revs are you at in park vs. Drive with your foot off the accelerator.
  7. Is your throttle cable messed up so that it can't fully close the throttle body? Or your throttle body could also be messed up that it's not returning to idle position or it's leaking maybe. I would imagine you have a throttle body related problem though.
  8. Are you solid mounting the engine to the frame rails? Won't there be a lot of vibration that way?
  9. The BMW E36 cross member is literally like an inch wider than the stock 240z cross member. However, you would definitely have to modify the rails that the cross member mounts to. I'm almost positive the E30 front cross member would be narrower and would require less modification...but that is just a guess that I pulled out my guessing hole. I do know that the track width of an E30 is less than an E36, so it would make sense if it was true.
  10. I already got the wire harness and DME from a 94 325i, as well as the MAF, knock sensors, crank sensor, and the other sensors you need. When I actually do the conversion I'm planning on documenting the whole thing correctly and not finishing the damn thing with, and just the sensors, or and use the rest of your M50 parts. There have definitly been a few guys who have helped me out tremdously though, so I'm very glad for their assistance. I'm not the first person to do this swap though, however the first guy already dismantled his, but from everything he said, it sounded pretty dang sweet.
  11. The S130 gets discriminated against because it's an uglier in every way version of the S30. Yes, mechanically it's hands down a better car. It has a stiffer chassis, it has a better suspension, and it has an engine that most S30 guys swap to because it's pretty good. But in the end, it's not as pretty, it's not as light, and it doesn't have that old school classic car feel to it. It's an 80's car, and the 80's was not known for producing cars that people actually wanna talk about. (Yes I know fully well there are some amazing exceptions).
  12. The G-nose? Or the little lip that's under it?
  13. Engine management is switching to OBD-1 electronics and getting a chip from Turner motorsports to tweak the new DME to get rid of speed sensor amoung other things. Six speed comes from a Z4, it bolts right up. Mine is from an 07 3.0si I considered an S54, but they are a "tad" more spendy, and you pretty much have to go standalone.
  14. Those wheels like like Work Meister 17" wheels to me. Nice car though. Who's ever it is, I'm glad they did that ALL on a closed section of road and didn't break any laws. Right everyone? Nothing illegal there, move along.
  15. Isn't that Bayside blue? Lota jdmheads paint everything that color because it's "Skyline blue"
  16. Awesome. I was thinkin about making some/getting some made like the first picture. A strictly bolt on affair would be quite nice in case I decide to change to a different style diff with different cv joints. However, if someone wants to whip me up some of those I'd be quite happy too
  17. You wouldn't be interested in making a set that bolt up to a Z32/Q45 CV joint would ya
  18. Don't most people drill a few holes in the dented area and pull up through those to get rid of the dent? You could fill in the holes afterwards, and it'll probably be easier then removing a whole chunk of a contoured section of the body.
  19. Six_Shooter, what did you do for the rear?
  20. I'm pretty sure you can adapt the 300zx front hubs to a 240z, the rear hubs are a different story, I'm pretty sure you'll need custom ones. Also, Modern Motorsports doesn't exactly exist anymore, so don't plan your build around those products. However, I don't think it's lug bolts themselves that break if you're drag launching, it's the stub axle itself. Are you going to turn this into a drag car where you will have slicks and a super sticky track surface? If not, then you probably don't need billet stubs for anything other than piece of mind. I mean, how much torque does the SR20 make anyway, even a highly modified one like you plan on building?
  21. To get the adapters for the companion flanges, you'll have to either buy used ones from someone on this forum or another Z site (good luck) or have a machinist one off them yourself.
  22. So it's definitly been a while since I posted any progress on my car, but now that RTz has kinda dismantled his, I thought I'd show this pic for everyone who was a fan of his awesome creation. I need to make the engine mounts now, and then shorten the shifting arm, but the engine and 6 speed fit surprisingly well. I've already torn the car down to nothing, and plan on media blasting it and doing it right. You don't get a ton of chances to completely redo a car like this the way you want to, but I've been trying to do the best I can to make it worth while.
  23. AHHHHHH! So cool! So, I really suck at suspension, what are the problems he's having?
  24. I've got an M3 cross member sittin around my house and the front suspension off mi carro. I'll see if it even comes close to looking like it'll fit. If it's not close, the E30 may be a bit narrower and has a real simillar suspension.
  25. Cool that you want to get into racing. The S130 is a pretty good platform to build off of. Check craigslist if you're lookin to pick one up on the cheap. You do realize that racing is easily one of the most expensive things you can legally do right?
