I mounted a BnM Camaro console style shifter in my 71 240. It stuck up WAY to high for the interior of the Z so i too flushed the whole shifter down into the trans tunnel. I used thick steel straps (think oversized plummers tape..) to form FandR brackets that form-fitted to the trans tunnel. This dropped the whole setup about 3-4" down into the tunnel. I plan on using a rubber cutout of an old truck inner tube to seal the shift hole off. The end result is a very sturdy mounting base for the shifter that sits just about right imho. Sorry dont have any pics of this...but I could snap some if needed. RJ

Heres my 73 before I bought the 240. I have a 496BBC ready to go in but everything got sidelined with the 240. One of these days Ill get around to finishing it. The design should allow 10's on pumpgas and deep into the 9s on a giggle shot. We'll see. I've always loved Chevy muscle cars~! RJ

Dont get too cocky around your friend with the Lightning. I'm looking to buy one of these and am very, very familiar with them. He will hand your new Ram its ass on a silver platter Mid 13's stock in good air and they arent that hard to launch. Just be fore warned.. RJ

I am one of he new rim crew. Can we get some more opinions on these tires please? The price is outstanding but will they perform on a 400+ HP car thats built to corner? Some first hand insight would be great. Thanks, RJ

HybridZ has an extensive library of info regarding anything and everything to do with a swap like you ask about. Im certain you will find most, if not all of your answers in short order with the search button. Once you have exhausted the vast resources here, then come ask questions. It saves everyone alot of trouble...including yourself. Welcome aboard! RJ

17 X 8 Centerline Pintails on their way!
Racin_Jason replied to Jwink25's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
congrats man! Im in the same exact boat I have 17x8" Billets sitting here and now I need coilovers also. Now Im looking at brake upgrades also...sigh. The snowball never stops compounding..lol. I looking forward to my new 17s also..although I KNOW I will get no traction from them. Should handle great tho. We'll see Jason -
Damnit...I need to start growing carrots

woot! Sounds real good

Ive seen this before on Ebay. I believe they do this regularly with high scale cars that have more demand then vehicles produced. Seems theres always someone out there with enough money for it to be WORTH getting the new Viper in their driveway before the Johnsons across the street. Must be nice...

I too just bought a set of rims from Nicole. They brought back the 17" RHINOS...so I made a clutch decision and decided to forgo the flares (for NOW) and get coilovers instead. WIthin 3 weeks I should have my 17x8"/5"BS Rhinos. Hmmm...now I wonder who would give me a good deal on some COILOVERS any after Xmas specials? RJ p.s. hi Nicole! Im sure youll read this. Thanks for all the help! Still wish you wouldve custom made mine in 4 lug...but I'll live

Welp I got screwed! Someone called Centerline and ordered the 17" Billet Rhinos I thought I had on hold...and they were the last ones! Almost seems like the buyer was trying to beat me to them since they said he called at 7AM this morning ( and no one had ordered any all week)...I called an hour after they opened and my rims were sold. What would suck the worst is if they ended up on a members car after all the posting i did about buyin them...but I hope thats not the case. Doesnt matter who got them...they are GONE

Well...doesnt sound too intimidating so far. No mention of issues with the backspacing being different from front to back. Well if the input stays like this Ill give it a go! Greinmann. Im really surprised at your comparison to your 15s. What tires are you running? Also how is the traction on those 17s?? JohnC. Comming from an experienced source, your response was reassuring. I know the short sidewalls will not help straight line traction due to the sidewalls not being able to flex as much. I just kinda hoped that a tire that wide would still hook up fairly well..even if it is a short sidewall. I just want it to be able to hook well enough on the street to embarrass some hi-dollar sports cars. I have Tokiko non-adjustable strut inserts now with Eibach springs. Hopefully that will do OK for smoothing out the ride. Im open to any more comments or experiences. I';d really like to know what I can expect since this isnt a cheap purchase. Jason

JohnC- Where are the ZG's on your car from? Those look alot wider than most ive seen. Looks great BTW!

Pretty much as the subject says. When i got the car the wiring was pretty hosed under the hood. No battery terminals and wires everywhere. Looking at the schmatics I have doesnt help much as there seem to be 20+ wires going to the battery. Can someone give me the specific wires that need to go to the battery and starter please? Thanks, Jason

Hi again gang, Well tomarrow I plan on buying a set of 17" wheels for my 71 240Z. I've always wanted a flared car with the cheeks stuffed so here is my plan. MSA Street Flares..bolted on like the sweet blue Z with white stripes. These give 2" front and 3" rear additional width I believe (MSA themselves couldnt give me the dimensions ). The rims will be 17x8"-3.5" BS front and 17x9.5"-4" BS rear. This will give me a 4.5" FS front and a 5.5" FS rear. My concerns are with the offset not being even close to zero. Ive read that Zcars can have quirky handling when they dont have zero offset. I know many of you run setups similar to this and was looking for some input on what to expect. As many off you..I am running alot of HP from a V8 so I need the width out back for traction. Another thing that crossed my mind was the fronts possibly rubbing on turns due to the rim protruding from the well and being so large in diameter. What can I expect from this setup as far as handling? I imagine the steering at low speeed wont be great trying to muscle these big meats with no PS. Will I have atleast decent traction from the 9.5" wide tires even tho the 17's have minimal sidewalls? Will the ride quality be like a brick or tolerable? Any input would be great as I plan on buying these tomarrow and would like to know what Im getting myself into. THANKS MUCH! Jason

How much should I expect to pay for my exhaust system?
Racin_Jason replied to 80LS1T's topic in Exhaust
Ok thx for the info Griemann. Exhaust is one thing im really dreading on my car. The engine mounts are hand made and put the 355 lower than the JTR would...so the 700R4 (WIDEST tranny) is lower than usual also. There is NO way to get the pipes even partially beside the pan. It will have to be below the tranny/floor pan level. I suppose I will have to take the Eibachs off for ground clearance . I just hope the shop I end up going to can get it as tight to the body as possible. We'll see... BTW the R200 I bought from you still isnt in the car..lol. One of these days
