  1. I love the sound of the Supercharger. My buddy had a Thunderbird SC and you knew he was getting on it when it started to whistle. I would love to own the Mustang SVT, but I think '04 model looks nicer. To me the Mustang SVT and the Mitsu Lancer evo are probably the best bang for your buck.
  2. I would say the minimum you will need is a better pump (providing you changed your lines, etc.). The aftermarket pump allows you to stay on the stock injectors a little longer. I am going to get the Walboro myself. ScottieGNZ highly recomends this pump. I am basically duplicating his setup since he always had good results. If you want to go to more boost your going to have to change your injectors. Your injectors are going to be maxed out even with the stock turbo. Good luck with the setup and remember to let me know when your going to the track. I want to see this thing run.
  3. MMMMMMM, Death in a bun!!
  4. Yes, but it definitley takes more time. I had some soft spots on my car and they took some work to get off. Get a good putty scraper to get the residuals. Either way it is easier then doing it all by hand. Good luck!
  5. I like the looks of the car but something is bothering me. The wheel wells look like they are awefully big. It isn't so much front to back but the hight of it. They look like they are 6" above the tires. I dunno, just doesn't go with the rest of the car.
  6. I would do that but I don't know if the junkyard will alow me to take the cover off. I'm not sure they would appreciate me tearing it apart and then saying I don't want it. I'll try the look through method and if that doesn't work then I will have to take the cover off. I'm not buying something I don't need or want.
  7. Hey Dave, Just a quick question. If it is not a LSD type rear then should I not be able to see through it from the axle hole? Just making sure. I am going to be picking it up in the next couple of days. Thanks.
  8. Man oh man. I would love to have a car that can run in the 10's and then drive it home. And get decent gas milage at that! Good luck on your quest. I have a feeling it might be your night.
  9. Sorry guys. The correct site is http://www.car-part.com . Sorry for the confusion. I can't believe I just found this. I knew I wanted one but didn't think it would be this easy, I know they are a hard item to find anymore.
  10. Just for the hell of it I went on to carparts.com to see if any 87-89 300zx lsd diffs were in the area. To my suprise there were two places local that had 300zx turbo rears. The one junk yard I knew well and knew I would be close by today while at work. I decide to stop by on my way back to the office to take a look at the diff and see what they would sell it to me for. I got there and asked to see the diff for some verification. The case itself was in great shape. It is only the diff, though, no shafts or other parts. The first thing I noticed was that it had the finned rear cover. Yes, that is a good sign, although I thought I read that doesn't mean it will LSD on here. I then started looking for any distiguishable marks. Do they have any? there were a couple of numbers on the diff, but they meant nothing to me. I flipped it, inspected it for any marks or info on the diff but there were none. The only thing I know is that it came from a 5 speed '87 turbo ZX. I then proceeded to ask the one gentleman how was I going to verify that this was truly a LSD. He pulled the one mechanic (I'm not sure if was really a mechanic, but the other guy thought he would know more) over to help out. The one test I know is to rotate one side and if the other side goes in the same direction then you have a LSD. No shafts, so that won't work . The mechanic pulled the cap off the right side of the diff and stuffed his fingers in there, he then turned the front flange where the drive shaft attaches. He did this a couple of times and then said that was a LSD because he was unable to stop the gear from turning when turning the flange. Does that really work? I know the other side was turning, too. I'm just not sure of that method, and if it would work. Anyway I decided to buy it, and take the cover off for verification when I bring it home. I couldn't take it today since I was working not looking at parts for my Z . I'm hoping it is an LSD because I got it for $250, which I though was a good price. Oh well, just though I would share.
  11. Do you mean the Viper or the Z. I am hoping you mean the Viper, sounds like you have a good setup. I've never ridden in a Viper, though.
  12. That is some funny stuff. Like one of the other guys said there are some deisel monsters out there. My friends ram dynoed 380hp (I know big deal) but it dynoed close to 1000 ft/lb torque. He has an M3 ('98 model) and the truck will pull it. It is amazing when he jumps on it. The smoke screen it blows is pretty hilarious, too. Enjoy that beatiful car and keep the entertaining stories coming.
  13. So does the back of my hand. (just kidding) Man oh man. Phantom you just threw away alot of money for that rock. That could have been money well spent on Z performance. AAARGGHHH!! Oh well hope you get good sex for it.
  14. It would be nice if there were high flow heads for the L6 motor. Too bad you couldn't just steal a Rb head and get it to work. I'm betting they flow a little better with the numbers they pull. Maybe someone could do it, not me, but somone.
  15. Man! Everyone is enjoying there cars but me! I gotta get my butt motivated and get working on the Z. Thank god the house work is almost done. Then I can finish the car. Glad that you are enjoying the power. What do you think your putting down at the wheels, and when is it going to the strip?
  16. Awsome! I love to hear low weight #'s for the 280Z. Getting rid of the bumpers takes off some nice weight. Good to hear your liking your new toy. 8)
  17. Jersey, You have to let me know when you go to the Island next. I am dying to see a Z on the track and have yet to see one. My car is slowly getting there but I have a ways to go till it will be there. Let me know by email or post an anouncement on the forum. I check it every day, just about, and I think watching you run will provide me with some, much needed, motivation. Hope to see you and others at the track in the near future.
  18. I see both drivers were equally weak. I guess you gotta give them a little something for at least taking them on the track. Most people will never even do that.
  19. What I don't understand is how could it only be good for a parking brake but not for doing big smokies? As long as it holds the pressure in the line then the brakes are on, so why can't it be used as a line lock. Oh well, either way, it will used as a parking brake, too.
  20. The last one with just Boy and Girl was the funniest thing I have read in a while. I was crying I was laughing so hard. HARRRRRRR! HAHA too funny.
  21. I can't wait to see some pics. This is my next project I am getting ready to embark on. I really would like to see how you did it, with pics from all angles. I don't want to have to butcher my car if I don't have to, luckily my friend just got a welder. Thanks for sharing.
  22. Mike, I really am trying to get the car on the road so I can make it to your picinic. I am really anxious to see some of the other cars that guys have on the board. I am in the process of doing the motor. I think this winter might be time for me to look into your adjustable suspension, though.
  23. John, Sorry if I sounded condesending. I just wished I had the skills of some the members on this board (yourself included). I could save myself a ton of money that way. Either way I am very excited to feel the power of my new brakes on the car. It should provide some breathtaking stops.
  24. Very nice runs. Tell us a little more about your setup. I am interested in what I have to do to get my car in the low 13's high 12's. Are you running drag radials or... Those were some really nice launches. If your doing that on street tires than you are the man!
