  1. I would pay the $100, keep the louvers, and use a .50 cal on it...
  2. haha...lol I had the same problem. I had my SUs turned to 2.5 turns from full up...I was getting like 12-13 mpg on medium driving not going past 3500... but I then leaned it up to like 1.5 turns from full up and I got 15-16mpg...driving it pretty hard too. I think I could break 20mpg if I babied it. I tried to baby it one tank but half way through the tank I got a lead foot. Now with gas rising and currently at $3.15 for premium I need to baby it. This 96 FORD Exploder I am driving gets 12-14.5mpg at best baby driving it. and it is no fun to drive but it has COLD A/C and XM...
  3. ok so my Illuminas are arriving this coming monday. That means I can't put my suspension back in but I can put the diff back in. And put a lot of stuff back together. I now need a new clutch to go in before ZdayZ. I may need some help as I have never done a clutch before. I am thinking of just getting the ACT pressure plate and a stock clutch disc. This means I need to pull the tranny AGAIN...oh well. Maybe I can have some friends help me out.
  4. is JB weld Gasoline proof? I don't know. is it for a rear mounted electric fuel pump or a mechanical pump? you want to be careful because if it leaks then you have gasoline right near hot brake parts...
  5. sorry but I didn't want to start a new thread...an admin can delete that if you wish.
  6. ok so talking about alignment I want to increase caster with my stock compression rod just slightly. How thick of a washer am I looking for? I searched a little bit but did not find much. Could I just use fender washers or are they too thick? Thanks guys
  7. sweet man! cool to see other early 260 guys around here. What is your VIN number? Mine is RLS30-12743 good luck on your 260!
  8. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Z-Series-280z-1977-datsun-280z-staight-6-cylindar-manual-4-speed_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6187QQitemZ4633489154QQrdZ1 buahahahaha
  9. that is really cool. 840 cubic inches in half the size of a Z motor...I wonder what it would sound like.
  10. yeah I noticed that problem that my fenders were different distances from the tire...but I then decided to hammer my fenders so now they are a really different shape than stock. My suspension stuff was completely shot from bushings to struts to coils...I am now just about ready to put it back together once my struts get here in afew days
  11. that's what I said...and S30's are the only REAL Z's...J/K... *edit* I just happened to have MSA as a favorite...
  12. http://www.thezstore.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=HC a buck cheaper...lol MSA will probably rip you off with shipping though...they used to be $50 for a pair.
  13. yep... I am not worrying about bondo too much...just needs to last 5 years until I can aford a "REAL" paintjob...lol
  14. get some 3/32 rods...should weld better. I use about 115-125 on a 1/8 7018 rod. That is on 1/4" steel fwiw
  15. I'll probably go with the stock disc and stronger ACT 240sx pp. I forgot about this thread since I went to the beach last week. I have seen too many incidents with the 6 puck eating flywheels. and too many cfdf discs melting down. Now that I have these wider tires that don't break loose as easily the clutch gives first. I dropped it pretty high while turning slightly from a stop and it spun the clutch and barely chirped tire.
  16. ooh...nice I like cars that are "owner built" or at least have a majority of the work done by the owner. GOOD JOB! I am a real noob at paint so I am just playing with this roller job and it should last 5 years at least and I will be happy.
  17. oh... I forgot to tell y'all about what was under the bondo... there was no metal under the bondo...this is on the drivers side front fender...should be easy to fix. I am guessing that some of the curb damage was the start of that. oh well. My front fenders are garbage anyway...
  18. I can't wait to get mine out in the sun! it is going to look real good.
  19. oh and btw...mine says "stops rust professional"
  20. just be sure to tape that sticker to your taillight so it shows up really well. at least you won't use the can for it's other purpose...as a "gunmetal grey high flow muffler that is painted on the inside for CrAzY power!!! and you can gain 35hp just from the gunmetal grey over regular light grey!!!" and it comes with a clamp so you don't have to deal with that "loud, bright, and dangerous welding!"
  21. I like those jegs cages but there is a thread about them on here somewhere... really good price and I can MIG weld in my sleep so that may be a good route...Maybe I can find someone with a TIG welder that I could borrow for a day...that would be really easy to weld around tubes with in low clearance situations like near the roofline. here is the thread... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=70213&highlight=jegs
  22. it looks nice and dark in this pic... my suspension stuff my perfect rear window...and my mountain bike on the ceiling... look where I was on Saturday! I drove my Z like in the condition of the 6th picture for like 8k miles...and I barely made enough $$$ to pay for gas... I just bought like $800 in suspension stuff in this rebuild plus the Polyurethane I bought back in the fall. I am driving this FORD Exploder every day and it gets like 13-15 MPG... My Z was getting 15 right before I put it on jackstands...and that was not granny-driving...the exploder I have to granny drive or else I will burn $50 in gas in 225 miles...If I drive it slow I get 300 miles...
  23. think of the Matrix...this is where we are heading...well everyone except us Z guys...we will have the roads to ourselves!!!!!!muahahahahaha
  24. you definitely don't want to use those flat top junk carbs...get some SUs... and a header, 2.5 exhaust... build yourself a 175-190hp driver...and junk that emmisions stuff.
