  1. here is the link...overdone for what it is. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/280-Z-STREET-LEGAL-AUTOCROSS-OR-CAFE-OR-JUST-DRIVE_W0QQitemZ4631238446QQcategoryZ6187QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  2. oh I like that. could you do mine black with red lettering and stripes like that? or just red lettering and polish the rest then cover in clear?
  3. Well I have now seen all of these bad threads about all of the clutch companies except 10k rpm...I need a clutch for my 2.6 NA Z that will never make more than 225hp until I go to a bigger engine way in the future. I was looking at the spec clutches but then up came the thread about them. I have a budget of $350 for a clutch and I would really like it soon before the ZdayZ event in a month. I also want to drive the break-in period for at least a week before the event to be safe. any help would be apreciated. 10K rpm seems to be a bit expensive. their clutch disc is like $279...or is that the entire clutch?
  4. here is another shot of the paint but a little closer.
  5. no problem at all...I just would like to put in a new clutch if I have the time. mine is starting to feel it's age. My buddies that are coming over are going to get a fast crash course in what METRIC is and how to rebuild a Z. then after that if we get the suspension and diff in then I will put them to work on stripping paint for me...lol I'll take it on a local curvy road and get video of it. I am going to be getting video of the dragon if I can get the mount built. I am also going to weld a tube inbetween the rear strut towers and weld my inner fenders back up.
  6. sure it is not the new JDM only 450Z?
  7. I have thought about a pinstripe but am not decided yet. If I do it will be after I finish the black and red. I am thinking about painting the top of the hood bump black for a little excitement in the paint.
  8. I thin it until it feels just thicker than water..I mix it with a flat blade screwdriver and watch the drips off the end from when it goes from a stream to drips...sort of like liquid benadryl... the thinning allows it to dry in a reasonable amount of time and flatten out quicker... just try it in a small piece of scrap metal. I just figured that my banged up fenders are not worth scrap that they would work. you need to experiment with it depending on humidity and elevation from sea level...not going to be the same for everyone.
  9. Harbor freight has a $65 auto darkening helmet that is pretty good. sometimes the price goes down to $50 when they have a sale. Northern Tool has the same helmet for more expensive. Just bbe sure if you go to H.F. to get the 2 year warranty. The helmet will die after 1.5-2 years and the warranty will save you. or you could get a speedglas for $250-$350 depending on the options you get.
  10. well I just ordered Illuminas because I need them really soon. sorry but I am really in a rush to get my car back together.
  11. this is going to be really fun. I am having a jeep and a ford guy or two over to help put my z back together. That will be an experience. I just ordered my Illuminas so they will be here in time for our reassembly party.
  12. the s12w calipers are the 86 to whenever calipers.
  13. the 79-85 is the solid rotor!!! That is what I have!!! the 86-89 is the VENTED rotor. Trust me!!
  14. I think you are doing a great job on the drawings but here is my one gripe. The rear fender line...The Zs had a high fender crease line that is very simialar to a 1967 camaro except less dramatic. I think you should raise the rear wheelwell to meet the stock or SLIGHTLY lowered fender crease. The huge open front end is something I don't really like but that is fine. I think the side "brake cooling" vents are too far to the outer side of the car thus venting air directly onto your tire cooling the tire (BAD) more than the caliper. you should also be able to see tire from the car's right side brake vent because the wheels are so deep. I wish you would do an S30 Z. That would be really cool. I have done a few drawings myself that are OK but not great. I'll post one of them up here. good work Driftn280zxt...you just need to fix that rear fender line...that is bugging me
  15. I am guessing I may be in contention for the "best under construction" award at the car show...considering what my car looks like now.
  16. you could probably get patriot to sell them to you. or you could have a shopcut them out. or you could go to www.mcmaster.com and get some material from them and bend it. Would not be as pretty but it would still be cool. go down to expanded metal down in the raw materials section. then decide what you would want.
  17. or you could just try to get the sidepipe covers and make your own pipes to go underneath the covers with your own glasspack of choice. That would be the easiest.
  18. I made a half dash for someone and am now in the process of drawing up a full dash to make for my Z. I am going to make two full dashes to fit an S30 and one will be going in my Z. If anyone would like to buy the second dash just post here. Shipping would be around $30-$40 mostly for the box to ship it in. The half dash weighed 4 pounds and the full dash should weigh about 6 pounds. This Aluminium is very thick and is hard to dent. I will post a picture of the half dash in a minute. This dash is going to be painted black so the aluminium's finish was not critically important
  19. wow...very...umm...eighties... it looks really cool though. I like home-made stuff...
  20. off topic... Here are some little band guys I made when I started welding. Notice that the piece of metal that the guitarist is standing on is the cut out of the guitar. That is some serious oxyfuel cutting skill!
  21. how not to gain spring rate... you can see where my diff was leaking all on the exhaust. arg...I hate this picture.
