  1. ooh... pretty... that will sound mean in that 3.1 ...
  2. I stripped the paint off the other side of my roof. now time to do the other "C" pillar... I may upload pictures tonight of my progress. My Illuminas should get here in the next few days so I can start on reassembly. I now need to get some new balljoints from Dats...umm...Nissan. I was just thinking...don't you love it when someone says their Dad or Cousin had a 240zx...
  3. hey on3go check out the website www.zdayzevents.com I am going this year but it is the same day your other obligation...May 19-21... There are going to be more than 200Z cars and G35s and 400 people... check out the map of the "tail of the dragon"...pretty cool
  4. that is pretty cool. it seems as if it would pull us away from our Zs too much...addicting...maybe
  5. cool...since it is the red-headed stepchild of the early family just go crazy with it...lol 3 S0s...hmm...you have too many for a sane person...
  6. finally someone has fallen into the roll on paint crowd with me...looks good. Just your first coat should not cover the color or base metal below it completely. then the second coat should cover any under color. The third should take out any big scratches and from there it is just insurance.
  7. it is fun if I am sitting in the car and some kid says "look at that old car daddy!" and just blow em away...Maybe I'll make a video to show how loud it is...the old horn was not as loud as my exhaust plus it took a few seconds to get to "full" DB sound level...$30 well spent. and it has about 3/4" clearance from my tires.
  8. I put these on since my stock horns are not very loud...these have 12 and a 14 in. horns...and are really loud. if you blow it in the garage with the door closed it really hurts. I put the small air compressor on the emissions bracket in the engine bay and ran the hose through a hole in the inner fender
  9. here is the frame of the seat. I am going to make some shoulder wings, cut off those hooks at the bottom of the seat back, and reinforce the seat a little bit. you can see where the sides are but it is about 3-4 inches too wide to give any support so I am going to make support there.
  10. I am redoing my stock seat completely. I removed everthhing dow to the basic frame. It seems like the stock seat frame has a nice dish to it so I want to take advantage of that. I am going to add in some metal sides and weld them to the steelback of the seat. I haven't decided what to do for the seat bottom but I am thinking of putting thick nylon in between both sides of the seat and remove the springs. Then add aluminium sides to keep you from shifting any at all. I will post some pictures on monday of my idea. In a few minutes I will post the picture of the frame that I already uploaded to my other site.
  11. It is really that I work on it every week and a half but I work one whole day and get a lot done. Today I modified the stock upper spring perches to hold the 2.5in. I.D. springs cetered on the perch. My stuff is functional withut being bling...black threaded collars, dirty struts, unpainted control arms and it will most likely stay that way. I don't want a car that looks like I have put $20k into it. I am doing this build as cheap as possible. I culd not justify buying $20 top hats just when my sort of ghetto modification of the stock hat will work just as well. When I do Camber plates eventually I'll probably get those techno toy tuning ones and just paint everything black.
  12. some places have the firewall blocking xanga...I am going to be out of town until Monday so I can't really do much until then.
  13. no... the main purpose of the cage is not to stiffen the car...hear my reasoning... it is a TT cage so...you have twin turbos at the back of the car and the pressurized air is pushed through the cage and up to the engine. thus a Twin Turbo cage...lol
  14. well that is realy thin steel. What size wire are you using? you should probably use .023 wire for something that thin. What company made your MIG? Miller, Hobart(same as Miller), or a Lincoln?
  15. where in GA are you? are you in the Atlanta area? As you can see I am just sort of ripping my Z down to bare metal. I don't plan on this being a great looking paintjob but I think it will look good cuising down the road. I am just rolling the paint on while the car is on jackstands. you can look at my worklog under misc. tech or my thread "here we go again...rolling paint" onder this body kits and paint a little further down .I am definitely a NOOB at paint myself. just want mine to look decent and better than the peeling black that it is/was
  16. www.zena.net is the end to your questions. you can use their generators for welding just like an alternator. give it a look it is probably worth it.
  17. I just put a wire wheel on my angle grinder...and my toothbrush is a small wire brush...I seem to have this problem with my gums bleeding when I brush my teeth. who knows... In all reality I use the blue gloves and they work good on general stuff but on the small work they come off.
  18. going 70 on a dirt road...that would do it in for sure...and kill the passenger in the meantime.
  19. My springs are QA1 springs. The rears are 250lb/in and the fronts are 225. they are 10 in long. definitely not a bling coilover setup. I'll post some more pictures later. I was saying that the part of the passenger side floorboard that is up on the firewall is gone. it is just the lining that is on the inside of the floorboards that is keeping junk out of the passenger's face...
  20. is this it? it looks like a porsche designed front end...the picture says 350zx...
  21. my sheet of aluminium is .063 which is 1/16" which is 20 ga. Aluminium guage thickness for aluminium is different than steel thickness
  22. now I know what to do with the last of my sheet of aluminium that I am making dashes out of. I need to reinforce my urethane air dam...
