Awesome! I live in Gifu for about 1.5 years when I was a little kid.
That was waaayyyyy back before Z's were part of my life.
I was like 4-5 when we were there...
Welcome to HybridZ!
Just search a lot and you won't get yelled at.
Are you looking at doing an engine swap like a V8 or staying with an L6 engine?
ZXs can still look REALLY good with minimal work. Just smooth out a lot of the plastic panels and a good paint job!
Good luck!

This thread is for a turbo swap but it should still provide good info on an EFI swap.
Spend some good time reading the FAQ section of this site and you will learn tons. It is the very top forum listed here. Just read it all.
SEARCH and you won't get yelled at...Not all are as patient as I... I was a newbie once...
Good luck on finding a 240!!!
Check the local junkyards for a good rolling body. Sometimes Zs get junked because of a slight fender bender or the engine dies.

This thread is SICK!!!! Such crazy stuff!!!
I'm guessing those cranks like the SD30 would need one heck of a balancing to be able to spin past 7000... It looks they stay under 3000 most of the time.
I have seen a valence on a Z just like y'all are talking about that covers the wiper arms. Very slick looking. I can't believe that I didn't get a pic of it. It was on a red roadster Z that had a dash that looked like a ferrari and has round tail lights.. It has been on the internet before so maybe I'll find some pics.
The one difference is that inbetween the #5 and #6 cylinder on the passenger side there is a threaded hole for some type of fuel injection sensor.
You are being taken advantage of as far as price. PM me and I can get you one for a MUCH better price. I could go even this morning and pick one up...
I sent you a PM...

I am driving around with an E88 head and the MN47 cam makes for a nice drive around cam but I lost some of the butt-dyno over my 260Z "C" cam which may have had a slight regrind. I lost top end power by a little bit.
You definitely want a cam bigger than the MN47 cam. I just used it because I needed a cam and that is all I had.
Good luck!!

I think the bad port design of the P90 is due to the raised ceiling and shorter vaves. The MN47 uses the same valves as an E88 head like the one I have. Thus the ports should be more gradual than the P90 ones because of the lower ceiling and longer valves. Just seems logical.
Remember that the MN47 still has port liners on the exhaust. They suposedly still flow well for a street motor.
I was thinking. I have had this hood vent idea for a good while now. I'll get right to the sketch..
Just look at the front end. Don't mind the huge BRE at the back.
So say we close up the front end even more than it is there. Maybe half that size.
Would completely blocking off the engine bay and diverting air over the hood be a good idea?
What about useing the same hood vents but extend the front end out like the janspeed Z's hood with the Gnose buckets.
Your SUs probably need a rebuild. WHat you can do is play with the settings a little bit. If the car is idling you should be able to lift one of the SU pistons to the top and it should just barely run. Once both of them run the same then you are close.
You could just find some rebuilt early 240Z style roundtop SU carburetors and be done with it... That would be the easy thing to do.
I agree with Max on this one.
I like your fender vents but they just need to be a little bigger to match the body lines.
With front vents like that you don't really need to have many other vents from the engine bay because no air is getting into the engine bay except what you duct in there for an intercooler or to help cool a turbo etc...
Keep working hard and you will get it!
Search for the "MN47".
I have one that I stripped the valves and stuff from. Don't pay more than $100 for it... Let me explain: You want a head that is fresh off a car... that works and you know how many miles are on it. You don't really get that with a head sitting on a shelf...
It came from the L24e in the 80-84 Gas Maxima.
"Ordered from Japan"...LOL
It is a really good head! I can usually get them for a really good price at the local yard...
They are a little hard to find but easier to find than an E31 head.
This is what it should look like. It should also have steel exhaust liners.
It has a 39 to 39.5 CC combustion chamber.
You would not believe that this head has 210,000 miles on it. Even after this quickie cleanup.
If you look at this one I wanted front fender vents but they were all coming out ugly on other sketches. This one I think is a good compromise by still keeping the original lines of the car that give it the definitive Z look.
interesting design...Those front hood vents look familiar...
I think the side of the body is too busy. Maybe if your fender vents went all the way to the body creases it would make it look cleaner.
Those fender mirrors are pretty cool!
Work a little more on perspective by using a photo to make sure you are at a proper angle for everything. I usually take about 10-15 points from a picture like for the windshield and outline of the wheels to keep perspective a little better.
Looking better than when I started! I mean just look at my first wastes of paper...lol
You COULD raise the stock spring perch...
but I was talking about mounting the spring somewhere other than the strut. Maybe a cantilever setup...still using the bare strut tube though.
You could run 6" of backspacing if you relocate the coils off of the struts...Not very fabrication friendly but it gets you a little extra space. It would be easier on the rear to do a relocation...

It is only about 15X the size of hybridZ.
Sign up and the forum doubles in size.
EVERYTHING you wanted to know about fabrication, sheetmetal forming, welding, and tons of other metal stuff.
Just wanted to give y'all the heads-up...
www.zclub.net is an awesome Z car site that most USA guys don't know about...
based in the UK...
Lots of rally Zs and even a forum on hybridZs...
The Gallery is the best part...
Still not up to the engineering par of HybridZ.
Not too many Zcar~ish flame wars over there...
It sounds like a good idea...what about your heating/AC blower fan? I would think that the engine would be pulling such a vacuum that it would make the fan strain(as if it doesn't already). Unless you blocked it off from the most of the cowl vents.
